I appreciate you for updating us on this, Tam01. I'm surprised all the possible steps to align the fields didn't work. I'm here to ensure this issue gets resolved.
Let's download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub on your computer. This tool helps fix common errors that occur in the program. I'll show you how:
Then, I'd suggest running the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. Here's how:
If the issue persists, I'd suggest performing Solution 2 in this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.
You can also check out this article for more details about adjusting the alignment in your form: Fix Print Alignment of Continuous-feed Printers.
If none of these fixes the problem, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They're equipped with tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary.
Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you learn more about preparing and filing the 1099 form. This ensures everything is accurate for the tax season: Get Answers to your 1099 Questions.
I'm only a few clicks away if you need assistance in printing your forms, Tam01. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.
I really think people are fed up with the same answers to these problems. Do a rebuild, do an update, reset your update, download and run the Tool Hub, etc, etc. Most of the time these things DO NOT work. If your updates are the problem then fix YOUR updates.
Just fix the problems, don't make it worse by guessing!
I agree! Just fix the problem. I did everything I was supposed to do and it still didn't work. Thankfully I only had 7 1099 NEC's so was able to get our accountant to run them out for me. Sure hope the problem is fixed before next year.
I ran the PDF and print repair tool, then I did a reset of the update. I have found you sometimes have to launch QB as an administrator before running those updates. I never rebooted. It seemed to work after that. I couldn't tell you if it was the repair tool or the updates, but I'm able to print now...
This worked for me! What's strange is I did the payroll update yesterday (1/27/22) and I was having the same issue of QB's not printing the 1099 (but W2's and everything else worked fine). So I thought, why not try again (1/28/22) and running the payroll update again worked and it printed as the 3 piece. Also wanted to note, I am running Windows 10 and not 11, not sure if that makes a difference.
Hi. Have you had any successful advice? I'm having the same issues. Can't wait until there is a rival software to QB. Thank you!
No! Strange that I can print the 1096 form from the wizard but not the 1099. Obviously an issue with the wizard but keep getting the same replies that do not work and I have no desire trying the online support based on past experiences.
Did you try and update payroll yet? I had updated earlier in the week but was having the 1099 wizard issues and I went and to the "Employees" tab and clicked "Get Payroll Updates" and it updated again. I went back to the 1099 Wizard and was able to print everything that I previously had issues with printing on. Not sure why it worked but it did and thought I would pass my success to you.
I do not use the payroll function as I am a sole proprietor with no employees. I will try and update QB over the weekend and see if I can print 1099. If so many people are having the same issue and apparently is has been as issue for some time, why can't Intuit find a solution?
I finally got it to work. I had not checked the "reset update" box. After I did that, it now works. Good grief. I am constantly putting out fires dealing with QB and ProSeries functionality issues. I no longer call tech support because after 30 years (since ProSeries was Chipsoft) I know more than they do.
I am having the same issue. All is processing fine until I get to print that I get a Window that says no 1099 misc is due. I was filling a 1099 NES not 1099 Misc. QB abruptly defaulted to 1099 Misc. I can not print my
1099 NEC at all. Hope? Soon? Isn’t helping me . Over the last two days I have I have been on the phone for several hours. Still no Solution to the problem.
I have already downloaded and run the QB tool hub while a QB tech support person was present on the glance on my computer with me. She could not get the form 1099 NEC to print. But she was able to see I was doing everything correctly. She said she would continue looking for a Solution and would email it to me as soon as she found some thing that might help. The thing is time is running out until these forms are due. To the IRS
Thanks for joining the thread, @C fan.
I'll share with you some steps that could print your 1099 NEC in QuickBooks Desktop.
I know this is crucial for you to print the 3 to a page 1099 NEC, and I also feel that haste since the deadline is near. For you to print it successfully, ensure that you have the required release below to print 1099 NEC and the latest tax table.
Simply open QBDT and press the F2 button to know what release you have.
Then, follow these steps to download the Critical Fixes and ensure the Reset Update box is checked to get the updates.
After this process, ensure to hit Yes when receiving a prompt to install the latest updates. In addition, make sure to remap the accounts and omit all mapping under the MISC tab. Doing this will cause you to remap NEC and MISC accounts again and be able to print the 3 to a page 1099-NEC form.
Additionally, you may want to view these articles for more guides and answers why you have to file 1099 NEC and recent updates:
Let me know if you need clarifications about this or have additional questions. I'm ready to help you here. Take care and more power to you!
Thank you so much, following these steps worked perfectly.
Thanks for helping us find that "reset update" box. Without that the update didn't take. I sat for two hours earlier this month with support person and didn't get resolution. Then I caught covid. I left the 1099s for the last minute and boom. Problem still there. The updates are supposed to be automatic. Why did we need to check the box? Anyway, problem resolved!
This totally worked! Thank you!
This is so poor - we pay a lot for this program - I had it working for several of my clients - someone asked me today to do a 1099NEC for them - I started a new company and it won't print 3 per page - I had other clients that I got it to print without a problem - I installed the QuickBooks Tool Hub and did the repair - it didn't work - I have updated the program - I have reset the update for the program - I have rebooted and still can't print the 1099 NEC
Thanks for joining and sharing your experience in this conversation, @english7. I understand the urgency to print your 1099-NEC.

Hi,
I was able to print 1099 Misc no problem. However 1099 NEC formating is not working is printing 2 per page but should be 3 so not linning up.
HOw can i fix this?
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community, Lalolosla. I'll ensure to provide details and some troubleshooting solutions to ensure you'll be able to print 1099 NEC accurately.
This year there was an update in the printing format and in order to print 3-part 1099s, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve updated to the current release for your product. To verify which release you have, you can press the F2 button when logged in to QuickBooks. This opens the Product Information screen and look at the release version extension. It'll be the underscore and a number like the details below.
If your product information shows the release version and extension for your product year above or higher, you’re fine and have the capability to print the 3-part 1099 forms. However, if your product release and version are lower than those listed, you’ll need to update your QuickBooks.
After that, press F2 again and confirm the release version and extension have been updated. Then, if everything is correct, go to the 1099 Wizard and print Form 1099-NEC.
If the issue persists, I reccomend opening this article to see different instructions on how to fix the issue about printing 1099 and start the following from begging: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Is there a fix for this yet?

This has been fixed in QBDT 2019-2022. If you are running an older version you will need to update. There have been fixes posted by community members, not moderators on a thread called 2021 QuickBooks Desktop prints 2 part 1099 NEC... the last couple of pages contain detailed steps that need to be followed exactly in order to update your software. I am not a moderator, just a community member trying to help others. Good luck. (If I knew how to post a link to another thread, I would...)
Yes I updated quickbooks and printed the forms. It wasn't immediately clear that the reset updates button needed to be checked so I went through several iterations. I had tried to get the 1099s done earlier in the months while I was isolating with Covid, called customer service but not help then. This community is much better!
Thank you!
