How do I re-activate inactive client?

Hello there, @bisic.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out here in the Community. I'd be happy to help you with reactivating your inactive client in QuickBooks Online.

If you're trying to remove a client's company in your QBOA account, please refer to the steps below:

  1. Login to your QBOA account.
  2. Click Clients under YOUR PRACTICE on the left menu.
  3. Look for the client's company and click Make active under the ACTIONS column.

Capture1.PNG

However, if you're referring to a customer in your QBO account, here's how to reactivate the client:

  1. On the left pane, click Sales.
  2. Select the Customers tab.
  3. Click the Gear icon above the ACTION icon.
  4. Put a mark next to Include inactive.
  5. Find the customer and click the Make active link in the ACTION column.

Capture2.PNG

That should get you back on track. For future reference, you can also visit our Blog to learn what new updates are being rolled out, as well as additional references while working with QuickBooks.

Please know that I'm just a post away if you're referring to something else or if you have any other questions while working with QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you out. Wishing you and your business success.

I have inactived several clients.  I do not see any of my inactive clients in the customer list.  None of the answers provided are helpful.   Where does Quickbooks Online store the inactive client list?

Ask no more, @BoxesNearMe1.

I have some clarification to provide regarding your question on inactive clients. As detailed in my colleague's post above, your Inactive Clients won't display until you've clicked the tiny Gear icon (⚙) and checked the box to Include Inactive as shown in Step 3 of the picture below.

Once you've checked this box, all Inactive Clients will be displayed on the Clients tab. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me here should you have any additional questions or concerns, I'm always up to talk QuickBooks. Thanks for coming to the Community, wishing you a safe and productive rest of your week.

5. Find the customer

So you don't list the 'how' to find the customer. No search results are returned when searching inactive (deleted) customers. They're listed below if you can ever get to them scrolling down & hitting 'next' one page at a time. :(

Ever since we moved to QBO the inactive customers will show but they are NOT SEARCHABLE. So I literally have to scroll down & hit next until I've gone enough pages forward to find them in the list with their old customer number & the word (deleted). This is NOT efficient as some are 100 pages or more down the list. All of the customer data is there, but none of it pulls up with the Search Field entries. MAKE IT FIND THEM WHEN I SEARCH!!!!! please I can't take this nightmare anymore

Let me share some information on how to look for these inactive customers, @TH_PERS.

An inactive customer is still searchable from the Customers page. Just make sure to include all the inactive from that page. Once done, you can click on the search box beside the Batch actions drop-down and type deleted

That'll show you all the customers that you've marked as inactive. Check the screenshot below:

Here's more information on how to add, delete, merge, and restore a customer

Please let me know how it goes or if I can be of additional assistance. I'm only a post away should you have any follow-up questions.

Thanks for joining this thread, eas22487.

I've reviewed our list of investigations and can confirm there's currently an ongoing one (INV-56168) about subscribers not seeing a Make Active option for some of their inactive customers.

Initially, I'd recommend troubleshooting the browser you're using. This issue could be related to temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause issues when viewing certain webpages. You'll want to access your account in a private window and try reactivating their profile again.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift P
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If you're able to see your Make Active options, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by temporary internet files. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.

In the event it continues not displaying, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team and referencing INV-56168. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and add you to the investigation as an affected user. This ensures that you'll receive email communications about any updates related to it.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!

I'd love to show you how to reactivate your payroll subscription, @atmgrls7.

There are a few ways to do this; via your Desktop file, through the web, or from the cancellation email. Before you begin, make sure you have a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Desktop File:

  1. Go to Employees and select My Payroll Service.
  2. Select Account/Billing Info.
  3. Sign in using your Intuit Account login.
  4. Under the Service Information section, select the Reactivate link next to your service status.
  5. Choose your payroll service, and select Proceed to Checkout
  6. Select a Payment Method, you can update or add the payment info. Then select Submit
  7. Select Place Order.
  8. Click Next and then Return to QuickBooks.
  9. Verify that your service is active by signing back in, and selecting Employees, then My Payroll Service
  10. Then select Account/Billing Information, check the Service Status.

Through the Web:

  1. In the Manage your QuickBooks page, select the product you would like to manage.
  2. Under the Products & Services tab, select the Payroll Subscription tile.
  3. The status of your subscription shows below the blue Toolbar. If it says canceled as the status, select the Resubscribe link.
  4. Confirm all the information in the Reactivate Subscription fields are correct. Then, select Save and Continue
  5. Review the details and billing info. Select Reactivate
  6. You'll get a pop-up message that will show your payroll subscription has been reactivated, click Got it.

If you received an email about the cancellation, you can click on the Resubscribe button in the email. You can refer to this article: Renew or Reactivate your Payroll subscription.

You can check this article on how to fix issues verifying your payroll subscription: Troubleshoot.

How do I re-activate inactive client?

Hi there, @OBO_Usering,

Allow me to share some insights about reactivating customers. Inactive customers can only be reactivated by doing it manually. As much as how hassle-free it is, however, it's unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Let me guide you on how to reactivate customers.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Sales tab, then select Customers.
2. Click the Gear icon to filter, then tick the Include inactive.

3. Locate the customer you want to reactivate and select Make active.

For detailed information, please visit: Add and manage customers in QuickBooks Online.

You may also want to learn how to send statements to show customers summaries of their invoices, payments, credits, and balances: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.

Should you need further assistance with managing your customers, feel free to leave a reply. I'm here to help you anytime. Have a great day ahead!

I know that this was a challenging procedure for you, @SPR Kim. I'll assist you so you can resume managing your customer information in QuickBooks Online.

Can you send me a screenshot of the specific error you encountered in your company file?

When there is a cache, it affects the functionality of QuickBooks and might result in missing tabs and features. It is also a method to lessen issues that arises when using QuickBooks.

Follow the steps below:

1. Restart your browser.

2. Log in to your account and try in an incognito or private browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: press Shift + CTRL + P

3. If it works on the private browser, go to the regular browser and clear your cache.

4. Then, sign in back your account using your regular browser.

Furthermore, to have an optimal experience while navigating QuickBooks Online, we recommend the following computer operating systems and internet speeds. See this page: System requirements for QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can use classes to track your transactions by departments, product lines, or any other meaningful segments in your business. Want to know how? See this article for the complete details: Get started with class tracking in QuickBooks Online.

How do I re-activate inactive client?

Greetings,

How-to reactivate inactive customers / clients in a bulk or a batch action.

I took bad advice from a CRM that integrates with qbo and inactivated many clients for a specific need.

Now i need to reactive all those clients/ customers.

To reactivate a customer / contact is only possible by performing this task one at a time as described in this thread?

Please help!

Thanks for joining this thread, d00b1e.

You're correct, as DHeraV's post mentions, inactive customers can be reactivated one at a time. You can do so by following the steps in MaryGraceS's post.

I can certainly understand how an ability to reactivate multiple customers at the same time could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear () icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. If necessary, attach a file with your Camera () icon.
  4. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a lovely day!
