How to add a new self-employed client?

I was trying to add a first client in QuickBooks Online Accountant and I wanted to choose the Self-Employed account level. I selected "Pro Advisor Discount" as the billing option. I did not see that option in the list of products (see screenshot). The lowest account level I saw was Simple Start. Why is Self-Employed not available?

How to add a new self-employed client?

Thank you for writing this up in detail and providing the screenshot, @Primavera.

QuickBooks Self-Employed has a different website that's why you're unable to see the subscription in the Pro Advisor Discount billing section. At this point, to connect your QuickBooks Self-Employed client, they must invite you as the user to manage their account.

You can share these steps with your client:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Under About you, choose Accountant.
  3. Enter the accountant's email address.
  4. Select Send invitation.
  5. Once you see a confirmation display “Your accountant was invited”, click Done

For more information about the process, provide this article: Invite an accountant to review your accounting in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once you receive the invitation, you can now access their QBSE account through QuickBooks Online Accountant. To access the client data, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Navigator menu, select Your Practice then, Clients
  2. Within the Bookkeeping Status column, click the QuickBooks icon that corresponds with the client or company file you are looking to open.
  3. Then review and make edits to their books.

Hello, @KarenJoy. Thanks for joining the thread.

I want to ensure that you can acquire more details about how an self-employed client can receive a perpetual 30 % discount billing from you as a ProAdvisor.

In this instance, I encourage contacting our QuickBooks Online for Accountant (QBOA) Sales Department. They have the tools and information on how you can give a perpetual discount rate.

I've added some articles about firm-billed discounts that you can find helpful in the future:

Feel free to post again if you have additional questions about client billing or other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'll get back to you. Have a great day ahead, and take care!

Hello AssuredBookkeepingPlus,

As of the moment, the QuickBooks Self-Employed plan is not included in the 30% discount. You can find more details in this article: ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing.
