Hi there, @tpcpa52.

Currently, there's an ongoing investigation where some users where being rejected in submitting E-payments. Rest assured our engineering team is working for a fix.

In the meantime, you can make the payments on the EFTPS site and record your payment in QuickBooks.

On the other hand, I encourage you reaching out to our engineering team so they'll include you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be notified via email of any news and updates. Let me guide you how.

In your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT):

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact us.
  4. Then, choose you're preferred way to get in touch with them.

Then, in case you want to learn how to adjust the payroll liabilities of your employee's, I've got you this article for reference: Adjust Payroll Liabilities in QuickBooks Desktop.

As always, you can reach out to us if you have other concerns. We're always here to help.

We have the same issue. What was odd, everything worked fine with QB 2017 Desktop, but when we upgraded to QB 2020, it stopped working.

We'll get this working in no time, LGavin.

Since you've mentioned that you've just upgraded to a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop, there are a few thing we need to do. I'd recommend updating the following:

  1. QuickBooks release version
  2. Payroll Tax Table version

After that, you can try your EFTPS password to see if it is now working. If the same thing happens, we can try updating the password. This would also help refresh the connection between QuickBooks and the EFTPS website. You can use this article for more information: Update your EFTPS Internet password.

Please get back to us if you encounter unexpected results or if you need anything else.

This problem existed in 2019 and has now arisen for all of are clients.  This creates an issue id the rejection notices is missed.  We rely on the Software to work correctly.  Since noting has been done to correct this problem, it would seem appropriate for Intuit to be responsible for any penalties associated with missed deposits.  Furthermore, if the problem is not resolved now, we will have to change payroll software providers.

Hi there, @John Littleton.

I appreciate you for posting here in the Community about the E-Pay issue. I would feel the same way in that situation if the problem continues after experiencing the same one from the past.

There are solutions you can share with your clients to get back on track. I recommend checking out this page for detailed information: Troubleshoot efile or epay rejection issues.

If the problem continues, I'd suggest using the Get a callback or Start a chat feature from the Help menu. This way, they can securely access your account and resolve your issues timely.

In case you'll need the steps, here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Choose Contact Us
  3. Enter your specific concern in the What can we help you with? box.
  4. Click Let's talk
  5. Select Get a callback or Start a chat
  6. Enter your contact information.
  7. Choose Confirm my call or Send message

Our Customer Support Team is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday) and 6 AM - 3 PM PT (Saturday).

I've also attached an article you can use to monitor the payment status in QuickBooks: Check e-file or e-pay status.

Let us know if you have any other concerns related to the tax payments. We're here to help.

Hi there, tlspread.

The investigation associated with this thread concerning the e-payment password has already been closed and resolved.

I can also see that you asked the same question in a separate thread. Let me share the link with you so you can follow the steps provided by one of my colleagues to resolve the issue: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/employees-and-payroll/epayment-rejected-940-and-94....
