Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

Appreciate your time reaching out to us, @lburnip

We have received reports with other users getting the same performance issues when trying to export reports to excel.

We have already submitted a ticket about this issue. Our engineers are all hands on deck working together for a fix to sort everything out. At this point, we can try saving the report that isn’t exporting as a Customized report. Some users were able to export their report by following the workaround provided.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu.
  2. On the Search bar, type the report that you want to export.
  3. Click Customize and choose the specific filter.
  4. Click Run report.
  5. Click Save customization and fill in the necessary information.
  6. Click Save.

Once you’ve done creating customized report, here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Click on Custom Reports Tab.
  2. Look for the report created.
  3. Click on the drop-down list in the Action column.
  4. Click Export to Excel.

To receive resolution updates, please contact our QuickBooks Online Care Team to add you to the list of affected users. To contact support:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Online.
  3. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  4. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

I appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue working toward a resolution. If there’s anything else you need help with, please don’t hesitate to reach back out. Take care.

I'm now having this same issue and its over month later since you wrote "Our engineers are all hands on deck working together for a fix to sort everything out". If this was a ship we would be sunk. This wasn't an issue a day or two ago. It just began today

Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

It's August 2019 and this is still an issue.

I used the workaround, and it still exports without any of the numbers populating the cells.

I made it work this way: In Excel, when the report is launched, I clicked on to make the document editable. Only then did all the numbers become visible. I then saved to write over the blank non-editable version.

How is this not fixed yet? At first glance, it looks like the whole thing isn't working, when in fact it is; it's just not visible.

Hello there, @GamerEdie.

To make the numbers from your exported report visible in Excel, let's update your Excel app to the latest version. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Open Excel.
  2. Click Blank document.
  3. Click File. 1.png
  4. Select Account.
  5. Click Update Options.
  6. Select Update Now and allow the updates to install.

If you don't see the Update Options, this means you already have the latest version of Excel. If that's the case and the numbers are not visible when exporting it to excel.

I suggest contacting our support team. This way, they can look into your account and further assist you to get this sorted out. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the (?) Help icon.
  3. Click Contact us.
  4. Enter a brief discussion about your concern and click Let's talk.

In the meantime, you also have the option to export your report as a PDF file. This way you can still be able to export your report and save it in a file folder.

You can also visit our Reports and accounting page for QuickBooks Online (QBO) to learn some tips on how to manage your reports and accounting.

Also, feel free to visit our Help articles page in case you want to learn some "How do I" steps in QBO.

As always, feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other concerns. We're always here to help you.

Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I am having the exact same issue.  When I get the QuickBooks email, with the excel attachments, on an iPhone (latest phone, latest iOS), the spreadsheet shows as all zero values.  “Sharing” the file to Excel on the iPhone and the spreadsheet works just fine.  There’s also a “report.html” that is being included in the attachments to the email, and I have no clue why.

Thank you for joining the thread, @CCChris.

I can share with you some updates or additional information about exporting reports to Excel.

When exporting reports to Excel, it brings out all the information and details that QuickBooks displays. Before doing the export process, ensure to review the transactions and numbers showing up on the QuickBooks report. If everything is correct, then follow these steps to export the information to Excel.

  1. Select Create New Worksheet from the Excel tab.
  2. Under Create new worksheet, click on the in new workbook button, then Export.
  3. Review or compare the Excel details to your QuickBooks report. The information including the numbers must be the same.

I've added these screenshots for your visual references.

For additional guides, while managing reports in QuickBooks Desktop, feel free to read the topics from this link.

You can as well check out the related resources from our help articles in case you need tips while working with QuickBooks in the future.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you again. If you have any other QuickBooks questions, please feel free to add a comment below. Thanks for coming, wishing you and your business all the best.

Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

Your instructions are ok for when someone is using a desktop version; however, this thread is for an issue with exporting a report to excel from QuickBooks ONLINE. The fact is that it is more than 2 years after the first person reported on this thread that reports show all zeros when an excel file is generated and it is still causing issues. In fact, the only way that I have been able to get a report in excel to be useful is to copy and paste the information from the generated excel file into a new spreadsheet.

January 27, 2021 and I've joined the issue train as well.  This is not a small deal with all of the export and uploads that occur with auditors, etc.  Terrible response time for a significant issues.

It isn't the kind of experience that we want you to have, Disgruntled.

Let's perform some steps to isolate the issue. To start with, let's try exporting reports to Excel through an incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue.

You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

If the problem persists, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate the issue further.

You can contact them by clicking the ? Help icon. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to successfully get in touch with our agents.

I've also added this link ad your reference in exporting report: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Let me know how these troubleshooting steps work on your end. Keep safe!

Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

Adrian we are having the same issue. Spent 90 minutes with QB tech support yesterday on this ticket: Case:[removed] TECH_SUPPORT. We have 2 users with this issue. Multiple browsers, cleared caches, checked options in Excel. They need to export from QB Online to excel to bring client information into other accounting software we use. QB Online creates the trial balance and other reports in the excel file with formulas (ie =1234.56 instead of number 1234.56). All the cells with these formulas display zero. When user opens the file on their computer there is a MS warning across top about protected view. Most of our users click the edit button on this message and the zeros convert to the number. However 2 of them still see zeros; one has Excel 2016 other 2019. If they doubleclick each formula individually they can display result. Yes automatic recalculation is set to ON. Format is general. All their excel options (FILE/OPTIONS) seem to be the same as those who's systems work as expected. While I suspect the problem is with Excel we need your help since it's only happening when we export from QB Online - no other systems cause this problem. For everyone else we did develop a workaround if you have Adobe Acrobat (full version not reader). Export and save the trial balance report as a PDF instead of Excel. Then using Acrobat tool "Export PDF" select spreadsheet and open that way. Works well with trial balance but other reports (esp balance sheet) may not format correctly. Adrian please help this is very frustrating.

Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

Thanks for joining in this thread and sharing the details of your concern, @TK_Firewire.

Let me share with you more info on why you're getting this issue.

Files from the Internet and other potentially unsafe locations can contain viruses, worms, or other kinds of malware that can harm your computer. This is the reason why your other QuickBooks users see the PROTECTED VIEW when opening their downloaded reports to Excel.

To exit from it, you'll need to click Enable Editing on the yellow Message Bar. This way, they can edit the file.

enable editing.PNG

However, if you're still getting an issue when editing the Excel file, I'd recommend reaching back to our customer support. Then, provide them with your case number. This way, they can review the troubleshooting steps that were already given and provide your further help. They can also run some diagnostic tests to check where might this issue is steaming from.

Here's how you can reach out to them:

Option 1

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Hit the Contact Us button at the bottom.
  3. Enter your concern in the description, then click Let's talk or Continue.
  4. Select Get a callback.

callback.PNG

Option 2

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right hand corner.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human", then press Enter.
  3. Look for I still need a human and click on it.
  4. Click Contact Us.
  5. Select between Send a messageSchedule an appointment, or Get a callback.

In the meantime, I'd suggest taking the workaround that you've shared. This way, you can bring your client's information from QuickBooks.

Additionally, you can customize your reports before exporting them to Excel. This will help you in bringing the details that matter the most to your business.

The Community always has your back, so please let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be more than happy to help. Keep safe.

Reports are not exporting to excel anyone else having this issue?

The reason I posted this IS THAT I DID CONTACT YOUR SUPPORT AND THEY HAD NO SOLUTION. Reaching back out to support for another 90-120 minutes to re-explain the problem and get the same answer is not productive. Please ask someone who is very knowledgeable about your QB Online excel export function to look at ticket [removed] from 2/8/2021 where i worked with your reps. Yes they indicated that Protected Mode was a likely culprit. But I have compared excel options on our computers (people who have the problem vs those who don't) and I can't find any differences in how their respective excel functions and options are set up. PLEASE SEND HELP - calling and re-explaining and getting the same answer isn't helpful. Thanks.

I fixed this exact issue by rebooting Excel. Same symptoms as you. I saw the values in the field, but it appeared in the cell as 0. I could get them to appear by clicking on each cell and hitting enter. Fix is that I closed all windows of Excel and rebooted the application and then tried opening the .xls again. Worked!
