I cannot get into my files. It is saying I have subscribe again. They have 2016 as active and the pro 2021 they say I canceled??? I'm not sure what quickbooks has done.
Login to your CAMPS and check your license status there. If you had a license of QB Desktop 2021 Pro Plus, you have to renew it. Otherwise, consider purchasing a new one time license for QB Desktop 2021 Pro (not Pro Plus).
Hello @Apap,
Yes, all the information about your account and subscription is found in CAMPS. This is a portal showing the QuickBooks you, as our customer, are using. I'll show you how to check your license.
In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about finding your license number: The Products & Services Section of CAMPs.
On top of that, I've also included this reference helpful with the other resources you can use while utilizing the portal: How to Use the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) for QuickBooks Desktop?
You can always leave a comment below if you have follow-up questions with this or start a new thread if you have any other concerns. I'll be here to lend a hand. Stay safe!
I also purchased the Desktop Pro Plus that came with a 15 month subscription and I don't need any of the benefits of the subscription it has expired but I can't access my program !!!
Small business accounting 2021
I appreciate you for joining us here in the thread, @SAS0730.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment down below. I'll make sure we'll get this fixed. Take care!
When did you purchase and install the license for the first time? Login to your CAMPS to check your license status.
Hi. I use QB 2021 desktop premier. May 11th I was locked out (QB installed on May 10, 2021). I called QB three times. First answer was my computer needed a server upgrade. The second kept questioning my authorization. And the third said I would need a subscription. No matter the answer, my lockout remained in effect. I do not need updates, live banking, etc. as only use for recording purposes for a small nonprofit. I'm confused as to whether a subscription, license, or whatever is needed. And if I need a one year license, where do I get it? Thank you muchly.
Hello, lpfm.
I appreciate the details and sharing your experiences you had regarding your call with our support. I'd like to clear things up and ensure you'll be able to access your QuickBooks Desktop data again.
The QuickBooks 2021 license may have been expired, which is why you were locked out of from the program. It also looks like you've purchased a one-year license, judging from the dates you've mentioned.
We can check the details of your license and the exact expiration date by going to CAMPS:
We'll want to renew your license to use the program again if it's expired.
There may be some offers for nonprofits, so I would recommend checking our support for this. They'll set you up and ensure you'll be able to record your entries again.
We can use the same phone number to reach them. If you don't have it handy anymore, we can follow the steps in this article: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support (we have the option to contact them both outside and inside the product).
If your license is still good for another set period of time, we'll also want the agents to take a closer look at this.
Alternatively, we can consider Fiat Lux - ASIA's offer on getting a one-time license. We can take a look at their replies for more details.
We can also look for other resellers in Google that still offer licenses for QuickBooks Desktop.
After fixing the lock-out issue, I'm sure you'll have other tasks to do in the program. You may be wondering how your organization is doing. Take a look at this article to help you run reports in QuickBooks: Understand reports.
You're more than welcome to ask any other questions regarding your data in QuickBooks. If you have some concerns in adding some entries on your books, let me know and I'll guide you through. Hoping to see you soon.
You were using the subscription license for QB Desktop 2021 Premier Plus. You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021 Premier edition. For the time being, consider to utilize the trial version for QB Desktop 2021 to open your file immediately.
We switched to online and have been told by sales people and this post that we will only lose access to updates and such, not the software, if we cancel our desktop subscription. Now that we canceled, the software is locking us out. We are only using the desktop version to access historical data, maybe once or twice a month. We were told this would not be a problem but now it is. How do we get back in to the software with out a subscription? If you say we can't then several of your employees and this post lied.
Hi ingallspw,
I'm here to share some information about canceling the subscription.
Once you cancel your QuickBooks subscription, you'll lose your license to use the QuickBooks Desktop Software. Thus, you can no longer continue to use any other service included with your plan.
If you wish to go back to QuickBooks Desktop, you'll have to purchase another subscription.
I've also added this reference for the detailed information about the cancelation policies: QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.
You can always mention my name whenever you have concerns with QuickBooks. I've got your back!
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
We are on 2022
The sales team told us we could keep using the software as an archive if we moved to online.
That's the thing... we didn't cancel our "QuickBooks subscription" as we are still using QuickBooks, just online. Seriously, how hard really would it be basically allow the software to enter a "read only" mode instead of just a total block?
If I can create "Read Only" users myself then I know the software could simply say, "IF License = Expired THEN AllUsers = ReadOnly" Really.. Read Only. That is next to useless for 99% of people. Trying to hijack and hold data hostage is really making me question our decision to move to stick with QuickBooks.
Don't confuse license and data files. When your (subscription) license expires, you can no longer run the program. But you still have the data files as archives and can open them in any active license or trial license.
Hi there, @ingallspw.
Let me shed some light on this situation.
Fiat is right. Once your subscription period ends, you will no longer be able to use or access your QuickBooks Desktop account. Your company file will remain on the device, but you'll need to re-activate the service, so you can open or view the data.
If in case you will not be renewing the subscription, you can purchase a single QuickBooks Pro license instead. This license is locally-installed and supports a single user.
It only means that you can only use the software for manual tracking and keeping your company data. Here's an article you can read for more insights: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.
In addition, you can check out this resource that provides detailed information about QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies: QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.
Keep me posted by leaving a reply to this thread if you have more questions or concerns about managing your subscription. I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Stay safe and take care.
Yeah... tricky tricky.
.
Intuit:
"Great news! You have full access to your file even after you cancel your subscription! I am sorry you didn't realize it is scrambled but you still have full access to the file. Please pay to unscramble."
.
Ransomware:
"Your files all still exist but they are encrypted. Please pay to unencrypt."

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so... blackmail-ish. How do they send these responses with a straight face?
I can not open QB desktop to be able to use the help function. I have paid for a one year subscription last week, the fee was deducted from my Visa card and I still can not open QB. I have used QB since the 1980's and have never had this kind of problem before. Is there anyone out there that can correct my problem.

I'm here to assist and ensure that you can open QuickBooks Desktop.
Let's run QuickBooks as Administrator so the program can be launched with an unrestricted access. To do this, right-click on the QuickBooks icon on your desktop and choose Run as Administrator.
If that doesn't work, we can repair QuickBooks by updating the installation permission so you can open it.

If you are still looking - switch to the online version but don't get it through Intuit ... go to a company called Tech Soup (specifically for non profits) and purchase the online subscription through them -- I work with three non profits that have gone that route.
I stopped using you guys as my payroll so I cancel all subscriptions. QuickBooks will not open up at all. I called and I was told that I have to have a subscription just to be able to get to my registry. if I’m not using anything but the registry there’s no reason I should have to pay you to use it. According to what you’re saying I don’t but I just called customer service and they’re telling me that I cannot use it unless I pay them a subscription fee

Don't confuse license and data files. When your (subscription) license expires, you can no longer run the program. But you still have the data files as archives and can open them in any active license or trial license. Otherwise, purchase a 3rd party service to open your file and convert it to another brand.
