Please tell me QBO doesn't think they have fixed this problem. It is NOT fixed!!!!!. For any users that are converting from Quickbooks desktop or have individual cards that were set-up BEFORE QBO made the change, DO NOT delete and try to re-connect until you are 100% sure this bug has been fixed. It is MUCH easier to manually input payments or interest charges going thru the parent account than to manually enter all of the actual transactions from the sub accounts or hassle with going old school with the BOA download and import into QBO.
Thanks for joining the conversation, @publishingsoft.
Connecting the parent or sub-accounts in QuickBooks Online can be different from our Desktop version. Since you start having the issue of downloading transactions after switching, I recommend giving our Customer Care Team a call for assistance in resetting it.
They can pull up your account in a secure environment, which we are unable to do so here in the Community for security reasons, and perform a screen-sharing session to investigate further.
Here's how to get in touch with support:
Please read through this article for more information about connecting multiple accounts in QBO: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.
I want to know how the call goes. Leave a comment below or post in the Community again for any questions. Take care!
If you actually bothered to read my posts, you would get that I am very experienced and if you actually understood the issue with BOA you would understand what you posted is truly less than helpful.
I appreciate you trying to reach out, but unless you can represent that this problem has been fixed, there is no point in me contacting customer support.
Here are some key facts:
1) It worked fine in the Desktop version with 1 BOA parent account (which includes payment and fee transactions only) and 2 credit card sub accounts (with all of the credit card charges detail).
2) After converting to QBO, the parent account was working and 1 of the 2 credit card sub accounts was working and the other credit card transactions were missing.
3) UNFORTUNATELY, I followed the QBO advice to disconnect and reconnect the accounts and that resulted in ONLY THE PARENT ACCOUNT transactions being imported. So, it made things WORSE instead of better.
4) Now I have gone back to the relative "stone ages" to export and download the transactions from BOA and import into QBO. Obviously, NOT ideal because it is not real time. As you can imagine, super frustrating to be paying more for a product that does not include this most basic functionality.
SO, unless and until you can tell me that users can now successfully connect and get the BOA parent account AND all credit card sub accounts data with direct connect, there is no point to try it.
What I described above is the EXACT same behavior the other users have reported. I'm certain it can be replicated 100% of the time. QBO needs to fix it ASAP. If the bug is not fixed, I will definitely be looking for another vendor in the near future.
Hi @publishingsoft,
I'm here to share some insights and clear things up regarding parent and sub-accounts for credit cards.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) acts a bit different compared to QuickBooks Desktop. You can either connect the parent credit card, which will pull up all transactions including its sub-accounts. Your other option is to add all sub accounts to your QBO company, leaving out the parent account. To connect both the parent and its sub-account(s) will result in an error message that was mentioned above.
With that said, this isn't a bug in the system. I understand where you're coming from and I can see the feature you mentioned to be very helpful for all users with connected online credit card accounts. I appreciate that you have pointed this out, and we have taken note of it.
Further details on how you can set up credit card sub-accounts in QBO are in this article: About bank or credit card sub account setup. This will guide you om how best to proceed with connecting your online credit card accounts, with respect to how you're individual bank sends the downloaded transactions.
If you have other questions, leave them below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Hi Ryan,
After reading the all the posts on this I'm happy to know that I'm not alone. I have done exactly what you suggested and connected to the parent account hoping it would download all of the transactions for the sub-accounts. You said in your post that "[connecting the parent account] will pull up all transactions including its sub-accounts" and that is incorrect. It will only pull up the transactions on the parent account which will be the monthly payments and fees. I have attached a screen shot to show you the year-to-date transactions that were downloaded when I added the parent account. As for adding the sub-accounts, I'm unable to do it because when I log into Bank of America, it will only display the parent account. So, you see the problem. For now it looks like I will have to manually import the data but I just wanted to let you know that the problem is ongoing for users who have multiple sub-accounts under a parent account.
I appreciate the detailed information about your concern, bkdavila_jrd.
Transactions should usually be downloaded when connecting your sub-account under the parent one in QuickBooks Online (QBO). In this case, I highly recommend contacting our Support Team.
From there, they'll be able to look into this further with more tools and may raise an escalation to our engineers.
Here's how to contact them:
Please let me know how it goes or if you have any follow-ups. I'll be here to keep helping. Have a good one.
I reported the same problem via messaging but the issue still exists.
Thanks for keeping in touch, bwlc2019.
I appreciate you for reaching out to our support. Updates will be disseminated via email once the permanent fix is available.
The steps on how to reach us out are provided by my colleague above in case you need to get in touch with us again. Otherwise, go to this link for additional information: Support hours and types.
If you have a reference number, I'd also suggest keeping it handy so there isn't a need to re-explain the situation.
Let me know the results. I want to make sure everything is taken care of. Wish you all the best!
Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed? I have a client with a new employee sub account credit card and we can’t get it to connect to BofA to get the cc transactions. The other 4 sub accounts are working just fine. I’m trying to figure out if I should give up trying to fix this or just input transactions manually (not too many).
Hi there, AutD456.
We received different cases related to connecting credit card accounts from Bank of america and these have been reported as resolved.
To assist you further on this, can you provide additional information like getting an error message or code?
Please don't hesitate to come back and provide more information. I'm here to help you.
It is not fixed!!! Help. We just started quickbooks and this is a deal breaker.
was this solved for anyone?
Hi there, katyordy.
Our engineers have been informed about this and they're already checking what's causing the issue to rectify it as soon as possible. You'll want to give us a short call. This way, we can directly add your contact information to our notification list.
You can follow the steps below to connect with us:
Please check out our support hours to ensure we that we address your concern on time.
We're unable to provide a time frame to when this will be resolved. Rest assured, we'll be sending you an email once we get this sorted out and I will also keep this thread updated.
For now, we can manually upload your bank transactions to your QuickBooks account. You can go to your bank's website and follow the instructions on how to download them. I've listed our supported file formats below:
You follow these steps in uploading the file:
Once done, you can go back to the Banking menu to match and categorize your bank transactions.
I'll be right here to keep helping if you have any other concerns or questions about banking.
Nope, still broken.
It has been six months since I lost connection to my credit card and there is still no fix in sight.
My company is also currently having this issue. I wish I could have found this thread a month ago instead of spending hours on the phone with QBO support reps. I've been on multiple calls with support while they use Glance to screen share while we're troubleshooting. I haven't spoken to a rep that was aware of this particular issue yet. The last one had me attempt to connect the parent credit card account from the bank list (which is the only one that shows up when you try to connect from within QBO) to my employees sub-account. This didn't accomplish anything other than throwing my reconciliation off due to it using an incorrect starting balance. (and before the half dozen intuit experts chime up on here, I don't need help reconciling). It's frustrating to read through these comments, and as a customer be aware of the problem while all of the intuit employees and moderators chime in with a lack of knowledge about the specifics of the problem. Everyone on this thread has called into support, and we've all tried the generic steps that would normally work for any other bank or credit card. Just because a previous open support ticket has been marked as solved within the Quickbooks company, does not mean the problem has actually been solved for all of us customers. Before posting the problem is solved, or sharing the same "fix" that have been shared in this thread, I would recommend moderators spend a little more time getting familiar with the specifics of this issue.
Hi, Aaron Oxford.
We're pleased to inform you that the issue has been resolved. The resolution has been implemented and all accounts should be updated now.
To fix this issue, let's perform a few manual updates.
Here's how:
1. On the left panel, click Banking.
2. At the upper right side of the page, click Update.
3. Wait until the update is done.
Feel free to read this article for your future reference: How to Manually Update Bank Accounts
Please let me know if you need anything else.
This is the type of response that is frustrating, @GraceC. I'm not sure if you're required to provide a response to each user on here, but it's responses like this can lead users to believe there is a solution to the problem when there isn't. If you have read through this entire thread, you will see that this is a specific problem between QBO and Bank of America being able to connect to all credit card sub accounts. When going through the connection process in QBO, the new credit card accounts at BoA simply do not show up like they used to for accounts more than 1 year ago. Many of us have years of experience working with QBO, and have done step by step troubleshooting with support over this issue.
For users, this is still an ongoing problem without a fix. Please do not follow anyone's advice to connect your parent account to QBO if you already have sub accounts that are downloading transactions properly. This will only break the link between your QBO and BoA sub accounts that you will not be able to restore. Instead, use the "solution" that has been stated previously until there is a real fix. For new BoA credit card users, you will have to download their transactions into a file from the bank website and manually upload them into QBO periodically. You won't be able to connect your sub account cards to download into QBO automatically.
I have very same issue and have been contacting customer support since the beginning of March. When I download the transactions from the Bank as a .qbo QuickBooks says it has to be a .qbo file. For some reason it does not see it as a .qbo. Is that hapening to you?
This does not work. It no longer recognizes a .qbo file.
Hi there, stacy31.
Can you share with us the error message that you're getting when importing your .QBO file? I just want to make sure that we give you the correct steps to resolve the issue.
Also, aside from a .QBO file, you can download a .csv file from your bank's website and import it in QBO. Just make sure to follow the acceptable format that is shared in this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.
Please add another reply below if you want to share additional details. I'll revisit this thread to make sure you get the help that you need.
Hi
I am on the exact same boat. My umbrella credit card account is the only one i can connect, and I can only see the payments made to that account, but not the purchases made with each card. Have you found a solution? tia
Hi there, @orthosolutionsok.
I want to make sure this gets taken care of so you could get back to business.
Currently, this is an on-going issue where Bank of America transactions don't download automatically in QuickBooks Online.
But I've got a workaround for you. Let's manually update your Bank of America transactions.
Here's how:
1. On the left panel, click Banking.
2. At the upper right side of the page, click Update.
3. Wait until the update is done.
I also suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Technical Team so they can add your account to a list of all affected users. Then provide this investigation number for easy tracking: INV-44095. By doing so, you'll receive an update regarding the issue via email.
You can download your transactions in web connect and upload them to QuickBooks Online for your reference check this article: How to Manually Update Bank Accounts
You've got me here if you have any other questions about this concern. I'll be around to help you out.
I am still having the same issue and it's April 2020. Bank of American sub-accounts still do not show up in the list of available connections. Please update me when it's fixed too.
