Capital One - Credit Cards

I am trying to connect to the Capital One - Credit Cards service to get my CC information/transactions.

Every time I connect using QB Desktop it crashes and terminates. I can connect to Wells Fargo with no problem.

I use Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022

Thank you for posting here on the Community page, sbennett2234.

I'm here to make sure you'll be able to connect Capital One- Credit Card in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can start the troubleshooting by updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes.

Here's how:

  1. Select Update QuickBooks Desktop from the Help menu.
  2. Click the Update Now tab.
  3. To begin the download, select Get Updates.
  4. Restart QuickBooks after the download is complete.
  5. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

For additional information, about the process check out this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If the issue persists, you can run QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub to fix any issues.

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file.
  3. Open the file.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Once installed, double-click the icon on your desktop.

For detailed instructions and visual reference of the process, please visit the Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub article. Aside from that, it contains some important notes that you should know.

Let me know the result once you've tried the steps. I want to make sure your concern is fully addressed and I'm here to provide further assistance whenever you need it. Have a great day.

So,

I get this error from the tool hub:

But, when I open QB - Desktop the Capital One - Credit Card option is not available anymore even though it is on my QB Online. Is that option not available? I am just trying to switch to the Desktop version from Online. Just rrying to set up the same connections...

I want to stop this issue from happening to you, @sbennett2234.

Thanks for the update and for providing the screenshot. I have other troubleshooting steps to ensure you can connect the Capital One - Credit Cards and get rid of the error in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To start with, we can update your Financial Institutions Directory. It will ensure that you have the latest information from your financial institution.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend following the troubleshooting steps below to fix the problem:

Once connected, the transaction will download to your account. You can continue to add and match your transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

We have another way to bring in the bank transactions from Capital One. You can use the web connect feature to import them manually. All you need is a .qbo file from your Bank’s website.

Did you know that you can easily export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QBDT? This will keep your data pooled into one account.

Lastly, check out these articles on how to personalize your register and reconcile bank accounts in QuickBooks:

If you need to complete other tasks, please let me know. I'll give some details and essential information on how to get things done. Take care always,

sbennett2234.

Thank you,

I updated the Financial Institutions and the Capital One - Credit Card option is available now. My Wells Fargo account no longer syncs, the Capital One card  screen comes up, is blank, and crashes everything.

Is IE the only browser that can be open? Why IE when it is going away? Why does a browser have to be open for the desktop? Is it just for logging into the Intuit account?

I am going to run the toolkit again...

Also, running Tool Hub, I still get the same error I sent to you in the screen shot.

Thanks for completing those steps, sbennett2234.

According to the export article there are a few different supported browsers available to use for this process.

Regarding what you mentioned about the financial institutions, I recommend reaching out to a member of the QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. Agents have the necessary tools available, such as the ability to screen share, to take a closer look to determine what's causing Capital One to crash within the system. Here's how to get in touch with the team:

1. With QuickBooks open, press the F1 key on your keyboard.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Enter Support in the field and click Continue.
4. From here you can begin a live chat session with an agent.

The following linked article provides these steps if you ever need them again in the future: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team

With this info you'll be back up and running in no time. Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions.
