Hello Inet Arlington,
I'm here to help.
Let's make sure first that your computer meets the system requirements your software needs. Once you're done verifying, you can then begin downloading and installing your QuickBooks 2012 through this link:
https://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/Support/ProductUpdates.aspx
Note: QuickBooks 2012 is no longer a supported version of QuickBooks. If you're using a product affected by the service discontinuation (QuickBooks Payroll Service, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services through the QuickBooks 2012 software) and want to maintain access to your services, you’ll need to upgrade to the latest version of QuickBooks as soon as possible.
Feel free to let me know if you other concerns.

QB 2012 cannot run on W8 or W10, as well.
QB Pro 2016 is under $200; your data file is now falling further behind. It might be the right time for the new computer to get a new and Supported and QB updated program.
QuickBooks ran on my Windows 10 computer for years until last night when it died and says that I need to re do IE8 for it to work again. I can't find my original disk and license key.
Hello gpom,
There different ways to locate the license and product numbers. You can find it:
You can use this link for more information: Find QuickBooks Desktop and Point of Sale product and license info.
Once you've retrieved your license and product numbers, you can go to this link and download the QuickBooks Desktop: https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products.
Make sure your computer meets the system requirements before installing the program. You can use the links within this article if you're using a different version.
From there, you should be able to install and activate QuickBooks without any issues.
Feel free to let me know if you require additional assistance with this.
please update the link for this query; it no longer works
thanks

I have a similar situation with my old hard drive dead and retrieving my quickbooks 2012 that has my current 2019 and 2020 quickbooks on the files. If I get a new laptop and load 2012 quickbooks to it and then move files to it, will it work good enough to get info off and then update quickbooks to 2020?
Hi there, JackielBCLC.
Thanks for dropping by the Community. You should have no issues downloading QBDT 2012 to port over the files to a newer version. I'm happy to provide some additional information on the transfer process as well.
You'll need to upgrade your company files so you can continue using them in your latest version. First, you'll need to log in to Windows as an admin user. Then, prep your company file and upgrade it. Here's how:
Once done, QuickBooks will prompt you to upgrade your company file as you open the newest version. Ensure all users are logged out before opening, then follow these steps below:
QuickBooks will now start to upgrade. Once completed, click Done. You can now open your existing company file in your new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's an article for your reference: Upgrade your company files after switching to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
You can also read through our help article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. This will guide you on how you can update your QuickBooks to its latest release.
If there's anything else you need, feel free to post here anytime. Thank you for your time and have a nice afternoon.
You may try converting your QBD 2012 company file on QBD 2015 or QBD 2019 prior to opening it on QBD 2020 or 2021.
I need help with the installation and registration of my QuickBooks premier accountant edition 2012. I moved my operations to another PC and ever since I tried to register online a dialogue message keeps popping up "checking whether you're online and currently registered" it keeps reloading even if I restart QuickBooks. I still have my product number and license number with me. I need urgent help
Hey there, DoreenT.
QuickBooks Premier - Accountant Edition 2012 is a discontinued and no longer supported version of QuickBooks. Registering it online is currently unavailable. Intuit discontinues live support and access to add-on business services of older desktop versions of QuickBooks to focus on supporting more current versions.
You might want to consider upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop so you can continue and back to running your normal business processing.
However, if you want to keep your QuickBooks version, I'd suggest getting in touch with our Support Team to help you install and re-register the program using a validation code. Unlike in this public forum, they have the tools required to get the correct authentication code.
I'll be sharing with you this article: System requirements for QuickBooks 2020 and Enterprise Solutions 20.0. It contains information about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop.
Please know that you can always get back into this post if you have more questions. I'll keep an eye on your response. Have a good one.
I have purchased QB Pro2021 but need to convert our company file which is QB Pro 2009 to it. I understand I have to move it 3 years at a time - to QB2012, then QB2015, and so on until I can open it in QB2021. I happen to have a version of QB2015 and can get a trial version of QB2018 online. I just need a version of QB2012. Help please!!
I'd be glad to help you download the 2012 version of QuickBooks Desktop, @Volunteer50.
You can download the 2012 version of QuickBooks Desktop by going to this link: Downloads & Updates. Just make sure to select the right region and version. I've attached a snip for your reference in this process:
After that, make sure to restore the file in between versions to avoid file damage.
Once transferred, let's start to upgrade your company file. Here's how:
Once done, you can now open your existing company file in your new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks for the link to get QB2012 - however, it asks for a licence # to do the download. Do you know, is there a Trial Version for QB2012 I can download to do my conversion from QB2009?
BTW, I have the Canadian version of QB Pro - both 2009 and the newly puchased 2021.
Thanks!
If you are using QBD CA version, contact Support CA and ask them for any trial license you need to upgrade your old file. Another option, consider purchasing a 3rd party upgrade service.

I'll share the steps on how you can get your QuickBooks license and product number. There are three ways to see your product info, either in the product information window, camps.intuit.com, or our license tool. Here's how.
From the Product Information Window:
To view via CAMPS:
Lastly, you can use our license tool to retrieve your info.
If you forgot what email address you're using, go back to camps.intuit.com then choose Claim Account. This will let you connect accounts that have different emails.
About recovering your lost data, you can follow the steps found in this article on how to restore a backup of your company file.

HI there. My Canadian company updated my PC recently and I need to reinstall QuickBooks. I had already pressed F2 while running QuickBooks, to found out that it is the "Quickbooks: Premier Contractor Edition 2012 Release R16P". I have written down the license number and product number. I then proceed to this download link
However when I put in the license number and product key, it says "incorrect license/product numbers". I have doubled checked and all numbers are correct. Is this because this version is the wrong version? Please let me know and point me to the correct download link. Thanks!
It is possible you have a license for QB Desktop 2012 CA version, not US version. The download site only provides the installer file of QBD CA version for 2016 version or later.
I have QB Pro 2021. Our account number is [removed]. I need the product # and License # to install on new computer. New computer has Windows 11.
Login to your CAMPS and find your license information in there. If you are unable to access your CAMPS as Primary Admin, Intuit may not recognize your license.
