Payroll "Save For Later" Not Saving Regular Hours

I currently have it setup so that we have multiple 'services' that we perform and bill the customer for (rigger, rigger overtime, rigger doubletime). We punch these against projects using the enter weekly time ticket so that when we go to invoice they can be carried over to the invoice easily. That seems to work great.

However, when I go to punch payroll, regardless of whether I put it to overtime or doubletime services, it still puts the hours in the employee's regular hours.

I manually move the OT/DT hours to their proper categories in the payroll section, and hit 'save for later'. When I come back, the OT/DT hours are still in their proper columns BUT it also reset the regular hours to their original totals, meaning all the OT/DT hours are doubled.

I am essentially unable to use the 'save for later' feature because of this, since I would have to fix time for 15 employees every time I use it.

Is there a better way for me to be doing this or is this a known issue?

Payroll "Save For Later" Not Saving Regular Hours

Hello, Adalius.

Let’s check if the issue you’re experiencing has to do with the browser your using. There are times that the overloaded files saved on your browser’s cache and cause the program to misbehave.  To check.

Try to run the same process you did on a private window. Here’s how to start:

  • For Chrome, press Ctrl+Shift+N.
  • For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl+Shift+P.
  • For Safari, hold down Command+Shift+N.

If it works fine on a private browser, we would recommend clearing your browser’s cache .Just be sure to close the browser after doing the troubleshooting steps for the changes to take effect.

You can also try switching to other supported browsers on your system to check how it works.

Payroll "Save For Later" Not Saving Regular Hours

When I first did it I wasn't in a browser, I was using the desktop 'app' for QBO. Then I tried in Chrome and Edge, both had the same results. It's more like payroll goes back and looks at the jobs they were posted to and re-sums their regular hours every time you go into it as opposed to it just not saving...

Payroll "Save For Later" Not Saving Regular Hours

I have the same problem. We use TSheets to import hours and will adjust if a mapping was incorrect. However when I click "save for later" all the adjustments made in QBO do not save and I have to redo everything. Was there any resolution to this issue?

Thanks for bringing this one to our attention, gcmcpa.

We can try signing in to QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

If the problem persists, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. You may send a message via chat, call us at a time convenient to you, or we’ll get in touch with you instead. To ensure we address your concern, our representatives are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturdays, PST. See our support hours and types for more details about this one. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon on the top right.
  2. Enter your concern in the search field.

  4. Click the OK. To get you to the right human, in a few words, tell me what you need help with option and tap I still need a human

Payroll "Save For Later" Not Saving Regular Hours

Same problem. I log my daily hours in Projects. The pattern I have noticed is that it tends to NOT SAVE the last entry of the day. The other entries are saved. It loses the entry almost every time the next morning I have to re-do it.

Can you please fix this bug? I am paying a lot of money for QB online version. Thank you.

I'll make sure you'll be able to save your daily hours in Projects so you don't need to redo the process every time, @Annette171. That said, I'll share some troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.

This behavior can be affected by your browser's cache. For now, I recommend tracking your time through a private window to narrow down the result. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts to save you time:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

Once done, review if the system saves your entries or not.

If it works fine, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh.

However, if you're getting the same result, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they'll be able to check your account securely and investigate this behavior further.

On the other hand, you can review the resources from these links for more tips while managing and tracking your time against projects or tasks from these links:
