There does not seem to be an option to re-align the 1099s like there is the W-2s. Is this an oversight?
Will it be an issue if things are partially printed on the red areas?

I've got your back, @mcshipley.
Let me help you align and print your 1099 form. To start, ensure that your pre-printed forms are ready. Once ready, open the 1099 Wizard and follow the on-screen steps until you see the Choose a filing method window. Then, follow these steps:

My problem is the I can get the top 1099 to align, but not the bottom one. If I align the top to fit in the correct boxes, the bottom one then is totally off.

I'm having the exact same problem. When printing 2 1099 recipients, I can't fix the alignment because the top half is always off more than the bottom half, therefore the page is not equally misaligned. This is obviously a software issue. Please help!
I'm having the exact same issue. When printing 2 1099-NEC recipients, the top half is misaligned but the bottom half is not. Trying to fix the alignment using this online suggestion (which I've already spent a lot of time troubleshooting) doesn't work because either the top half is misaligned or the bottom half is off, they are not equally misaligned. This has to be a software issue that Intuit needs to fix asap as 1099 deadline is approaching fast since I have multiple clients to prepare 1099s for. I did not have this issue when preparing previous years 1099s. Considering the amount of time I've already spent trying to get the alignment to work, at this rate I'd be more efficient hand writing them all. Ugh.
We'd really want to make sure that you're able to print your 1099s so you can file them on time, Mwilson2.
Can you also tell us where you did buy the pre-printed 1099 forms? One of the causes of misaligned printed copies if the papers that you're using is not compatible with QuickBooks. You can get a compatible pre-printed kits from this link: https://www.intuitmarket.intuit.com/tax-forms/1099-forms.
If you're already using a compatible paper, I would recommend reaching out to our Payroll Support Team. They can take a closer look at this and check for more options on how we can sort this out. Here's how:
Please take note that they're open from Monday to Friday, from 6 AM to 6 PM Pacific.
Lastly, let me share these articles for additional guidance when filing your tax forms:
Let me know if you need anything else.
I purchased preprinted forms online (not from Intuit) and they were marketed to be compatible with Quickbooks, and I purchased them from the same provider in previous years with no alignment issues. I already called QB support and unfortunately because I didn't order forms from Intuit they didn't have much help to offer. Therefore I'm back to square one. In my opinion Intuit preprinted 1099-NEC form kits are grossly overpriced at $72.99 for 10...this is the price shown for the state I'm located in (WI).
All of the other boxes in the 1099-misc align perfectly in both the top and bottom forms, however, box 10 prints too low. Boxes 1 & 3 are fine. I haven't had to use others. How do I align on box on form 1099-MISC?
Thanks for posting here, @JulieM2,
We want to make sure there are no delays with your 1099 processing, so we're here to help you out with the alignment.
As discussed by my colleagues in this thread, you can set the alignment within the program. Try these steps first in your QuickBooks account:
In the meantime, you can use a blank paper for testing and see if it aligns properly to the form. See this article for the steps on how to print 1099s in QuikBooks: How do I print my 1099 forms?
Furthermore, you can use AlexV's recommendation to use Print Repair Tool if in case the first troubleshooting doesn't work.
Kindly update me on how it works so I can provide some more troubleshooting when you need it. I'll be right here anytime.
Quickbooks is a joke.
There is no possible way to print inside the red portion without the Payers box printing outside the print area. I spent 3 days trying to file electronically on the Tax1099.com site. Gave up and went to Office Depot and purchased the forms. Gonna print the best I can and file them.
Quickbooks did a terrible job with the 1099-NEC roll out
Has anyone been able to resolve this issue? I have the same problem, I can align the top, but not the bottom. I purchased QB compatible forms from Amazon, like I have in prior years, and have not had alignment issues this severe.
Is QB interested in resolving this at all? I have spent way too much time already going through every trouble-shooting measure and possible workaround there is.
If you will have a resolution in place soon please tell us. If we should just go ahead and hand write our forms because we didn't buy Intuit's ridiculously overpriced forms, please tell us.
But please tell us something because we are running out of time.
Hello, @KFisherRM.
Let me share some information on how your can print your 1099 forms from QuickBooks.
When printing 1099 forms, one of the requirements is to make sure to use QuickBooks compatible 1099 forms. These forms are designed to print directly from QuickBooks and put information in the correct blank section of each form.
In the meantime, let's check your PDF settings and make sure that general alignment settings apply the following changes:
Once verified, let's try aligning and printing your forms again. You can follow the steps shared by my colleague, @DivinaMercy_N, in this thread. Also, you can refer to the Make fine alignment adjustments section of this article for more details on printer setup: Align, checks, invoices, and other forms for continuous-feed (dot matrix) printers.
If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They can check your account securely and provide troubleshooting steps to resolve the alignment issue. Here's how:
Keep me posted on how your call goes. I'll be right here to help you if there's anything else that you need.
I have already tried the pdf thing; none of the workarounds work for me.
I have never had an issue with QB compatible forms in the past. Seems like something changed drastically this year to really screw with the alignments and force folks to by Intuit forms. QB has to acknowledge that their forms are ridiculously overpriced. $150 for NEC and MISC forms? Truly a racket.
The issue is that the 1099-NEC is three vendors per page and QuickBooks is printing two to a page.
Good evening, @eddamon.
Thanks for following the thread and sharing your concerns.
We are aware of the 1099-NEC 3 form change. However, we currently don't have a specific time frame when the printing option will be available in QuickBooks Desktop. I recommend turning on the Automatic Updates. This process will keep your data file updated to the latest release when they're available.
Here's how to do it:
Please know we will keep you posted as updates come available. We appreciate your continued patience.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
Will QB have this fixed in time for us to meet filing deadlines? I've used QB for 26 years and have never had this problem. I only have 2 1099's to print and the alignment tool is not a practical fix for this situation.
Every time I try to align the program crashes and exits. I'm using Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020

1099 Alignment issue RESOLVED FINALLY:
Spent a lot of time fixing this so hopefully my post will help others:
1. Upgraded to 2022 QB enterprise
2. Go to Help-->Update QB desktop
3. Go to Options-->Select "mark all" to include fed forms and forms engine.
4. Then go to update now and update.
5.Print 1099 forms.
6.In my case, everything defaulted to 1099 MISC but I needed 1099- NEC
7. Went to 1099-MISC and selected "omit these"
8. Back to 1099- NEC and the drop down populated!!! (this step took a while coz it was grayed out and did not know the process)
9. take a break, go for a run or do 10 jumping jacks! good luck.
Hope that I get a thumbs up for my 5 minute write up! time is precious!

Hi,
We have the same situation in our QB. But we our using premier plus edition and we can seem to find the "option" tab you mention. Would you please provide some print screen please. Thank you.
AP
I have looked at all the corrections to Align but when I try to align it doesn't change at all. I have tried every number to make it move and it still prints the same. I have changed the Align under Printer Settings and nothing. How else can I get it to align?
