I've been looking for the fee schedule for direct deposit and haven't been able to find the information. I'm using basic payroll on desktop. Can anyone help me with what the fees would be to start using direct deposit?
Thanks!

Your confusion ends here, @JHelming.
Allow me to fill you in on everything about the direct deposit fees for QuickBooks Desktop with Basic payroll.
There will be a standard fee of $1.75 for every Direct Deposit transaction processed in QuickBooks for employees and vendors for existing customers using the old payroll services. However, if you currently subscribe to the new payroll offered by Intuit, it does not have Direct Deposit fees for employees. But there will be additional fees that may apply to the number of employees you process payroll at a given month period, which is $2/employee per month.
Besides, if you're processing Direct Deposit for 1099 contractors (which isn't included with the per-employee fee), you'll still get a $1.75 fee for every Direct Deposit check paid towards the vendor account.

Great, thanks so much!
Have the fees increased?
I am running Quickbooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants and I just ran two checks for my employer and the fee shows as $3.71. It used to be $ 3.50.
Thank you
Jane

I just upgraded to the 2022 Enterprise Version for desktop and I was told that I wouldn't be charged any additional fees for direct deposit. I just saw a charge for payroll services. Can you explain what this charge is for?

What place was that that charged 2.00 per pay for direct deposit?
Good day to you, @sonofcarl31.
Allow me to chime in and fill you in about direct deposit (DD) in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
The $2.00 you're referring to is the previous fee for each DD process for existing users of the previous payroll service.
If you subscribe to the new payroll offered by Intuit, there will be no charge for every DD transaction. However, they'll be an additional fee for each employee you'll add to your QBDT depending on your payroll subscription.
I've got you these articles that can help you learn more about payroll and DD in QBDT:
Furthermore, I'm adding this resource that will help process DD for your employees: Set up direct deposit for employees.

How do you know if you have the Payroll Enhanced version? Is it the same as Intuit Quickbooks Payroll Annual Enhanced? If, so I just spoke with someone from Quickbooks and they said it was $1.75 per DD, which is conflicting to the answer. How can I find out how much it will cost to switch to DD.
Thank you for joining the thread, @DSB88.
QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll has four services: Basic, Standard, Enhanced or Assisted. You can go to the Company menu to view your services and subscriptions.
Here's how:
QuickBooks Desktop Pro Enhanced Payroll is a do-it-yourself option where you can process payroll and file taxes directly through QuickBooks. While on Assisted Payroll, someone will work on your payroll taxes and file returns for employees to keep them in compliance with a penalty-free guarantee.
Additionally, for existing QuickBooks Desktop Payroll users (with Enhanced Payroll for up to 3 employees or Unlimited Employees), there is a standard fee of $1.75 for every direct deposit transaction processed for employees and contractors. This old service doesn't have a per-employee usage fee billed on top of the monthly/annual subscription fee.
With the new payroll subscription, there's a fee of $2.00/active employees or contractors that only applies when you process checks in a given month period. I would also suggest reaching out to our sales team to check which plan is best for you. Please click here to view the price list.
I'll be sharing with you some articles that will guide you on how to set up Direct Deposit for contractors and vendors:
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to help you out. Have a great day ahead.
When did the direct deposit fee of 1.75 per employee rise to 4$ per employee? So far this year, my fees are up 128% over last year!
