Update or change your payment method for QuickBooks Time

Learn how to update or change your payment info for your QuickBooks Time subscription.

Keep your payment info up to date for a seamless experience with your QuickBooks Time. You need a credit or debit card for QuickBooks Time subscriptions. PayPal and ACH transfers are also accepted.

If you want to update or change your payment method, here’s how:

Update or change your payment method

You'll need to update payment info in QuickBooks Time using a web browser. You won't be able to update from the Workforce app.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Time as the primary admin.
  2. Select your Profile, then select Billing and Subscription.
  3. Next to your payment method, select Edit ✎.
  4. This will launch the Wallet list. From this view you can:
    • Edit your payment method (expiration date, billing address, account holder name). Note: The billing address on the card must match the country listed on your company's address.
    • Add a new payment info
    • Switch QuickBooks Time billing to previously stored payment method
  5. After saving your changes, the payment method will be displayed on the Billing and Subscription page.

Note: Your card will be billed monthly to keep your account active. If your account becomes inactive and you want to resubscribe, you must use the same payment method and billing frequency as before. You can switch your payment method after resubscribing.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Time as a primary admin.
  2. Select your Profile, then select Billing and Subscription.
  3. Review the information in each section.
  4. In the QuickBooks Time tile, select View payment history. Your billing history shows the last 6 months’ bills.

There are several reasons why a PayPal, credit card, or debit card payment may be declined. If you receive an email from QuickBooks Time indicating that your payment method has failed, follow these steps.

  • Update or change your payment info
  • If the payment is still declined:
    • For debit cards: Contact your banking institution.
    • For credit cards: Contact the company that issued the card (for example, American Express).
    • For PayPal: Contact PayPal or the banking institution that is linked to PayPal.

When updating the payment info, make sure:

  • All subscription and billing fields are completed.
  • Verify credit card details are correct.
  • Confirm that the address for the credit card matches the address in your QuickBooks Time settings. 
  • Checked that there are no special characters or symbols (such as @ or *) in your billing address.

If you're still receiving an error message or are unable to update your billing details, try using Incognito mode, or clear your cache and cookies.
