Add a new client with ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing

If your client already has a QuickBooks subscription, here's how to take over a client's billing.

See your firm-billed subscriptions

To check the status of a client's subscription or see what product they're using:

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings ⚙ and then Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Your Subscriptions or Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  3. Review the list.

Here you can see each client's company name, subscription status, and QuickBooks subscription level. Select the client's name to see more details about their products.

Change a client's QuickBooks subscription

Follow these steps to upgrade or downgrade your client's QuickBooks Online subscription level.

Remove a client from your firm-billed subscriptions

When you remove a customer from your firm-billed subscriptions, they'll start paying for their subscription themselves. Their subscription will be billed at the full retail price, as it will no longer be eligible for your discount. Removing clients won't impact their accounting data in any way.

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings ⚙ and then Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Your subscriptions or Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  3. Select the client you want to remove. Note: If the client is currently inactive, make them active first.
  4. From the Select action ▼ dropdown, select  Transfer billing to client.

After you remove a client, they have read-only access to their QuickBooks company. They can see their accounting data but can't make changes. Clients get full access once they update their billing info.

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings ⚙and then Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Your subscriptions or Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  3. Find your client and their listed payroll product.
  4. From the Select action ▼ dropdown, select Cancel or Cancel Payroll.
