Quickbooks pro 2022 pro plus

I currently have Quickbooks pro plus 2021.  I will have to renew around 800 dollars around 400 for Quickbooks and 400 for enhanced payroll.   My question is I saw on Amazon that Intuit is selling Quickbooks pro plus 2022 with enhanced payroll for around 600 bucks.  Does anyone know if I buy a new version can I use it and cancel my current subscriptions?  I've tried talking with Intuit support but I don't know if they don't understand or just don't want to answer the question but they don't know.  Does anyone know?

I'd like to provide insights about managing your QuickBooks subscription.

 

Yes, you can purchase a new QuickBooks version at a retailer and use it. Make sure to activate it before the expiry. Please note also that QBDT sold at the retail store is not subscription-based.

 

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to Employees, then Payroll, select Install Payroll from Box.
  2. Fill out the fields in the Payroll License and Product Information page.
  3. Hit Continue.
  4. Perform the on-screen steps to complete your payroll activation.

Furthermore, I recommend canceling your QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2021 auto-renewal to avoid future charges. Having said that, let me share with you the QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.

Every Best buy and Amazon store I've been to is selling Quickbooks pro subscriptions here is just one example,

Best buy is also selling subscriptions to Quickbooks so i'm not sure why you are saying they don't sell these in the stores because even Walmart has Quickbooks subscriptions in the store.

Plus Amazon has it every, retail location I've been to has it.  Why would you say what you did about retail stores not selling Quickbooks pro subscriptions?

Let me clarify about the non-subscription-based Quickbooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro purchased at the retail store. This way, the confusion will address accordingly. 

 

Buying QBDT in Best buy, Amazon or Walmart is probably a 1-time payment. You don't need to pay the monthly or yearly membership in QuickBooks. Also, your membership is not directly to us since you buy the subscription in the retail store. 

 

If you'll renew your QBDT, I recommend you contact our Customer Service team. They can provide you with guidance on how to obtain a direct subscription to us. To contact them, see this link for the steps and their availability: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

How do we upgrade a retail version of Quickbooks Pro Plus 2022 Subscription purchased from Amazon that clearly indicates it includes a 1 year subscription on the box and CD to receive the "Subscription" version of DT Pro Plus??  We would like to use the app to upload receipts.  

 

If you are indicating that we have to purchase directly through QB to have a "Subscription", this is very deceptive when we already purchased the "Subscription" version from a retailer that you sell through.  Are you indicating we have purchase this again directly to QB to be able to use the "Subscription" service we have already purchased.  Is there not a way to use the "Subscription" that is included in the version of Quickbooks Pro Plus Subscription that is purchased from your retailer?  We must be missing something here...  Help?

The QBD 2022 Plus license that you purchased from a retailer / partner is the same product when you purchase it directly from Intuit. Once your license is registered, you will find it on your CAMPS later.

I'm required to update my 2019 Desktop Pro version so I can continue with my payroll subscription. Both come due about the same time. Payroll renews in April and the 2019 version expires in May. Can I buy the QB Desktop Pro 2022 with Enhanced Payroll to replace both of what I have now?

You may purchase QuickBooks with a payroll subscription in two ways. You have the option of paying on a monthly or yearly basis. With this, if you choose yearly, you can get payroll included for 1yr. To verify the subscription you've bought, I recommend logging in to CAMPs account. With CAMPs, you can manage your accounts, products, contacts, billing, and user ID access. You can review charges, update your payment method, change a credit card, as well as update billing information and email addresses. 

 

On the other hand, QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll lets you pay employees directly from QuickBooks. It simplifies payroll tax filing and payments, and lets you easily prepare, file, and send W-2s and 1099s. With Enhanced Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop automatically fills in the latest State Tax Forms. QuickBooks Desktop will guide you in processing the forms and help you stay in compliance with your State regulations.

Hello,

 

This chain looks promising but I have an additional twist. I had payroll before, let it expire because I had purchased it through retail already.

 

I am trying to activate the Enhanced Payroll portion of the retail product purchased. All instructions say go to Employees then choose Payroll. But I don't have that in my drop down menus. I believe it is because I had payroll active before and there is data there.

 

How do I get to the place to activate my payroll feature?

Let me help activate your payroll service bought from the retail store, Genne.

 

The steps to activate the payroll service depends if you purchased it online, by phone, or from a retail store.

 

For the payroll service that was bought from a retail store, you can follow again the steps below.

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. Select Employees, then Payroll, and then select Install Payroll from Box.
  3. Enter the info on the Payroll License and Product Information page. You can find your license number on a brightly colored sticker on the folder inside the box. The product number is in the directions on the folder. You’ll get a 16-digit service key to enter during step 5.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete your payroll activation, including entering your service key.

 

If you don't have the Install Payroll from Box option, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Team. They can pull up your account and activate the service for you.

I have tried asking customer support on this issue, the difference between subscription and not subscription.  I talked to 2 people and it's like they either don't know or have been told not to say.  I still don't understand the difference.

Welcome to the Community. Allow me to step in and provide clarification about QuickBooks Desktop.

 

There are two options you can choose from when using QuickBooks Desktop. You can choose the Plus version (annual/monthly subscription/renews yearly/monthly) or the one-time purchase of QuickBooks Desktop (which entitles a maximum of 3 years of usage and supportability).

 

However, Desktop’s one-time purchase products are no longer available in 2022. If you purchase QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus through a retailer, your subscription is valid for one year only.

 

Once it expires, you'll need to renew your subscription. Users will have access to the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs). From there, you can renew your account.

If you are still using QBD 2021, you can still purchase a new one time license for QBD 2021 to replace your existing license. But if you are using QBD 2022, your can only replace it with the one time license for QBD 2022 Accountant edition.

I saw your message that QB Desktop one-time purchase products are no longer available in 2022.  Does this mean after one year I must pay again or I won't have access to my company file?

 

Also, do you know if QB Desktop Pro 2022 includes employee timesheets without payroll?  I use Pro 2018 and have timesheets.  I'm a consultant and bill my clients for my time.  I have no need for payroll, just the timesheet entry to create invoices for my clients.  I've called customer support and they have no idea.

Unless you purchased QBD 2022 Accountant edition with the one time license, when your QBD 2022 license expires, your QuickBooks program will be locked on your machine. You can open your file with the trial license on your machine or on another machine.

For your first query, you can still access your company file but you no longer receive updates and are unable to use the add on features such as payroll, online banking, etc. For more details about this, feel free to check our QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy site.

 

To answer your other question, yes, you can still create a timesheet entry on QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2022 even without a payroll subscription. To do so, you simply need to utilize the Enter Time option under the Employees tab. To further guide you, here's a video presentation that you can use as a reference. timeentry.PNG

It's a little concerning that someone else answered and said my program would be locked :). 

 

I currently have a 2018 version and don't use the bank downloads, etc., so as long as I'll continue to be able to use the 2022 program after one year without the add-ons I'm fine with that.  Thanks for providing the link.

 

That's good to hear about the employee timesheets.  When looking at the Intuit website and comparing products, the line for "Enter employee timesheets" does NOT have a check mark for QBDT Pro, so it appeared that was a service I'd need to buy separately.  I'm happy to see that's not something they've taken away - it's how I track my billable hours to create invoices.  When I called Intuit to ask no one was able to answer the question!!

Divina says (similar as I mentioned earlier) you can still access your company files but don't forget your program (i.e QBD 2022) will be locked when your license expires. Don't confuse company files and licenses/programs. You have pay the renewal fee to keep using your program.

Sorry to bother you, but I'm getting a different answer when I call Quickbooks directly.  I'm being told that my company file will be in "read only" mode.  I can access it to look at it, but won't be able to make ANY changes.  Your answer made it seem as though I could work in QB, just not use the add-ons like online banking.

 When I explained to the person on the phone that I received a different answer here, from someone it appears is an employee, she sent me the licensing agreement.    This points out that we're only purchasing a license, not the actual software, and that if we don't continue paying the license we won't have access to the software anymore.  I wanted this answer to be out there for other people to see, since there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding, even among people that should know.

 

2. LICENSE GRANT AND RESTRICTIONS

 

2.2 You acknowledge and agree that the Software is licensed, not sold. 

c. If your payment and registration information is not accurate, current and complete, and you do not notify us promptly when such information changes, we may suspend or terminate your account, terminate your license and refuse any further use of the Software.  (this would happen at the end of the subscription period if I didn't renew)

The person you were talking to has given the correct explanation. We never owned the product (ie QuickBooks). We as users only buy their permission (i.e. license) to use it. That's why they can refuse to generate any activation code for outdated versions.
