Join nowBeen days, no weeks now and can't access my old premier 2011 quickbooks to download data for this years taxes or to add to my new quickbooks online. I have talked with customer service and they were able to import some things from the file, but I need to get inventory and such that they don't do.
I get this message. Tried lots of things, re-install, firewalls, new browsers. Also there was a tool to download but the link to the tool doesn't work in any of my browsers.
Thanks for visiting the Community today, do-owareusa-com.
I appreciate you for being detailed about your concern, especially the screenshot. This will give us a clearer picture of what’s happening to the issue.
Let’s run some basic troubleshooting steps to get past the error. This way, you can import your inventory data and other transactions to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The error occurs when there’s an issue with the network you’re using. If your computer can connect to the internet outside of QuickBooks Desktop, configure Internet Explorer on your device.
To start, set Internet Explorer as your default browser. I’ll help and guide you through the process.
Here’s how:
Then, check the computer date, time, cipher, and settings. Make sure that they’re correct.
After configuring the browser’s settings, launch QuickBooks again and reset the password. If the issue persists, I recommend performing Solutions 1-3 in the following article: Fix internet connection problems in QuickBooks Payments.
When moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QBO, the desktop program should be up to date for a seamless process. Since you’re using the 2011 version, I suggest moving the data to a new one and then import it to the QBO.
You can utilize and download a trial version to accomplish this task. Before proceeding, create a backup of the company file to keep a copy of your transactions.
For additional resources, the following article provides detailed information about importing QuickBooks Desktop company file to QuickBooks Online: Move your data. It includes links on how to do each task as well as a video for visual reference.
Also, this write-up will guide you on how to verify if the data was transferred successfully: What to do after converting from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows or Mac to QuickBooks Online.
Reach out to me again if you still need help with resetting your password and importing your desktop data. I’m always ready to assist further. Have a good one.
Chat Support and ask Data Service to reset your password. Otherwise, you have to purchase a 3rd party password removal service.
If you want to migrate data to QB Online, you have to manually migrate the inventory data manually. Another option consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service to reset your Admin password of QB Desktop file and migrate your file to QB Online including inventory (with opening quantity) and attachment (if any). Hi-
Tried all that. didn't work. Also just found my old laptop from two years ago and it had quickbooks still working until I tried to log in again and then got the same error messages. I hadn't done any changed to it for 2 years, not the internet explorer or the quickbooks. So the error in password looks like it comes from Intuit. I have two cases on this so far, and when I purchased QB online they said they would help. I need the password working to finish year end closing and migrate. Who do I need to talk to?
Must be on Intuit's end. I found my old computer from two years ago and it ran QB using all the same software, but in the state from two years ago, until I tried to log back in. Then I got the communication error message.
Two case numbers, days retrying the same "try restarting it" and such and still can't open the file to finish year end closing or migrate to online. When I purchased the online version they said specifically they would help with this.
It's like a quagmire.

I received and email from Data Services that they are doing something.
So as it stands, if they allow my Quickbooks desktop to be opened now, I will still need to log in each time I start the program. Can I continue to use the new password or are you saying I will only be able to log in once to my data?
Hello, do-owareusa-com.
Yes, you can use your new password as long as it's correct. Once it goes through, you'll want to log in to your account without entering a username or password. You can use this article for the detailed steps: Stay logged in to QuickBooks company file (sign in without entering your password)

It is approaching a month without being able to log in to my old file. Haven't heard back from Data Services yet other than to ask permission to look at my file. How long does this usually take? I will have paid for a month of online without being able to use it soon.
Hello do-owareusa-com!
I understand that you need to access your file as soon as possible. Let me provide more details about it.
It depends on the file size and issues how long QuickBooks Data Services will be able to fix it. However, it's best to reach out to them again so they can check the status of your case.
