The potential issue is that it still mentions IE11 (32 bit) in the system requirement document. That's why we have to wait until they release it next week.
Thank you for that clarification. Finally having QB as a 64-bit application is a good thing, even if they are late to the game as usual.
2019 pro
Consider to clean install your QBD 2019.
https:// quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/install-or-update-products/clean-install-quickbooks-desktop/00/201980
how would a new install affect the need for IE11?
You should try it. Half of our team is running QBD 2012-2021 on Win 10 version 20H2. We dare not upgrade to 21H1 at this time
That leaves you only 7 months before you have to upgrade from 20H2 (MS ends support in May 2022). and of course, that's hoping that none of your users click on the upgrade before then.
Hopefully Intuit will get on the ball before then.
As it is, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of irate customers over the next few months after Windows 11 releases tomorrow.
Did that, no success
It looks like you've tried Fiat Lux - ASIA's recommendation, 10293847. We want to ensure your issue gets fixed.
I suggest reaching out to our customer care support so an agent can take a better look at it. Here's how:
Feel free to take note of the support hours so you can get hold of a live agent.
We're available 24/7. You're always welcome to post if you have other concerns. Keep safe!
What did you do? Did you clean install QBD 2021 on Win 10, or else? For some cases, we had to install the trial license of an outdated version (e.g QBD 2015) in compatibility mode Win 7 to trigger the installation of IE.
WHAT? This whole thread is going the wrong direction!!!!!
My original post was about IE as the only browser allowed because of the security. NOT AN INSTALL!
WILL THE QUICKEN TEAM PLEASE TRY AND ANSWER A QUESTION CORRECTLY?
@jcweb wrote:WILL THE QUICKEN TEAM PLEASE TRY AND ANSWER A QUESTION CORRECTLY?
Quicken Team? You should ask the question to Quicken Community.
Hi, jcweb.
I understand that you don't want to use that browser. As this moment, QuickBooks Desktop is still using the IE 11, it relies on integration with Microsoft products. This browser will continue to receive security updates and technical support for the lifecycle of the version of Windows on which it is installed. I'm more than happy to give this feedback to our developers. I'd also suggest sending feedback . Just go to the Help menu, click Send Feedback Online, then choose Product Suggestion. Requests entered there will be considered by the software engineers for inclusion in future updates.
For additional reference, you can check this article to learn more about the system requirements in QuickBooks:
If you're using Quicken , you can use this link to get in touch with them: How to Contact Quicken Support. It provides several ways on how to contact them.
Don't hesitate to post again here if you have other questions or concerns with your IE issues. I'm always around happy to help. Take care and stay safe!
I have posted in other threads about how Microsoft is going to retire Internet explorer very soon. They are not going to provide updates they are not going to provide a way to install the software. The programmers at QuickBooks need to get it together and stop using Internet explorer within the program.
I'm so tired of seeing people suggest stuff contacting support or sending feedback for help.
Bottom Line: IE is still REQUIRED for even the latest versions of Quickbooks Desktop, IE no longer works, can no longer be reinstalled and can no longer be accessed for many people on the latest versions of Windows 10 Home Edition.
To date, in spite of their users begging for help, no published resolution has been delivered to their QBD use by Intuit, who knows their program is dead until they fix it!
Moderators, please stop insulting our intelligence with the same suggestions that don't work and never have. And stop asking us to call support. It's a waste of time for the users and the technicians. THEY CAN'T HELP US!
I, and surely everyone else reading this thread, are wondering why the moderators constantly send us to contact Support when there is no published solution by Intuit for this problem! Please stop doing this!
The fruitless calls to support and the negative results they bring only makes us more frustrated because they can't help! If they had a solution, they would have published it long ago to avoid people from calling support and getting nowhere! PLEASE STOP THIS!
Has anyone on this thread lost access to Internet Explorer on Windows 10 Pro? I've only seen this impacting Windows 10 home PCs. PCs running Windows 10 Pro seem to be unaffected even with the latest updates to Windows 10.
Try installing an older version (eg QBD 2015) to trigger your machine to also install IE. Otherwise, install the QBD 2022 trial license once it becomes available.
@Fiat Lux - ASIA assuming installing QB 2015 works to install IE, where are you recommending people go to download QB15?
I'm not seeing anywhere on QB's site to download anything other than buying the latest version.
Download the installer file from the site
https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products
Contact us in private and we may share the trial code. Bear in mind, this workaround didn't work for everyone.
Thank you for the idea @Fiat Lux - ASIA
I downloaded and installed Quickbooks Desktop Pro 14 and no luck. Same IE error on startup. We knew that might happen but it was worth a try.
I posted about this problem on the Microsoft forums and one of their employees was good enough to help submit a email request to the Microsoft Team responsible for helping users with implementing Microsoft Edge's IE compatibility. We'll see how that does. If I works out, I'll post the results here for everyone.
Take care,
Mike Vail

Is there any update on whether QB 2022 no longer uses Internet Explorer. I know they've finally upgraded to a 64-bit version, but I can't find the information anywhere about the IE requirement.
As Microsoft is removing IE permanently from Windows very soon, this is really important to know.
"After June 15, 2022, the Internet Explorer desktop application will be out of support and disabled, automatically redirecting users to Microsoft Edge. Organizations with Internet Explorer websites or apps are encouraged to move over to Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge will be supported through at least 2029."
