FYI, I am having the same EXACT issues and have tried ALL of the mentioned "fixes," as well. All to no avail. I, too, was given the choice to extend our support services or upgrade to 2021.  $$$

Hi Guys, I'm and Admin having customers with simular issues, and no matter how much cpu, SSD ect QB 2020 sucks, I even placed the QB file into a RAMDISK and no go still the same speed so I decided to look someplace else and here are my findings:

 

I took the computer and changed the gateway address to 0.0.0.0 (no outside access) guess what, 5min to open quick books, now why do you think that would be? Well my thoughts are that QB Desktop is having to check in to QB for some reason, and on the day's its running fast such as a sunday few users trying to use QB, on M-F lots of users QB servers congested.

 

So my guess is that when opening a file some handshake is taking place with QB now that did not occur in older versions of QB, hope this helps if we can track down what its doing maybe we can trick it into not needing to check in.

I used NETSTAT to check which IP's were contacted by QB below is the list of all the IP's I found QB Enterprise connecting to when opening and open. Some of these are google analytics, why are they tracking our usage?

That sounds like a wonderful idea, lets move out of the site so that others with this issue can't see what were finding, why would you want to hide these facts from the users? What is it your hiding?

I needed to reinstall my Quickbooks Premiere 2021 on a new computer yesterday... no available download on QB site :-( But, I luckily saved my original download!

 

And, I came to the newer login enforcement and Active-X script. Again, local file, local account, no payroll or bank. Absolutely no need for the Intuit nanny to have me log in to them and risk my safe data login.

 

Fortunately the advance firewall block of outgoing TCP port 443 on QB32.exe still works for now.
There NEEDS to be a way for desktop users to work offline from Intuit servers. Please listen Intuit. This thread is over a year old and all you seem to do is avoid the issue at heart.

Scott Cook's fantastic little app and company has grown into a the typical monster. 

 

Between the issues we have with Intuit's ridiculous and inaccurate Payroll Subscription costs (close to $500 per year vs the $75 we use to pay), hideous tech support, lost  transactions, hours waiting for either boot up or the Merchant processing connection, I'm all in for a common data base free  grants all rights including  relicense OSI approved FSF approved accounting program.

You're absolutely correct!!!

 

I am a single PC user, vs multi-user setup.  So, all I did was disable Wifi/EtherNet so there is no access to the internet and QB2020 pops right up.

 

Intuit either needs to terminate this spy game, or make a dedicated connection to their spyware in order to not make start up very slow.

Nothing ever improves with the performance of the program.  In 1999 they told me 256MB data file is huge and I need to upgrade to Enterprise.  Really?  $2500 versus $250.  Just admit this is the same code base from the 80's and that QB Desktop needs a complete rewrite.  Your solution?  Upgrade to online edition with 1/2 the features and slower reports.  QB should be ashamed in this "update" scam.  The only thing you get for paying money every 3 years is chrome and lipstick.  You can cover the pig with glitter and lipstick, but its still a pig.

Have done all the adviced things as well. Still extremely slow. Specs, OS, QB all good, just simply slow in building assemblies.

I installed my QB Desktop Pro 2020 om a new computer and have the same problems!  Runs slow, report take forever. Also 1099, does not map accounts properly, pulls in omitted data.   I have been a QB user since 1996 and this is by far the worst!

File size is tiny, 329KB.  Its not the underlying SQL Database, I've used it with 60 GB Files and its lightening fast.  Its the sloppy QB programming that has been patched, patched, patched, patched.  I've worked with clients that were tricked into Premier and Enterprise editions, and there is no difference in speed.  It needed to be rewritten 10 years ago.  Finally, a rewrite but for the cloud, and from what hear, cloud version is dumbed-down, less features and just as cumbersome to use.

 

For example, the sad part about cloud version is that it STILL only supports one email address per company.  One client has 20 sales people, and they all have to fish for their replies from customers through everyone else's stuffs.  The world needs a better accounting program.  This ain't it.

Imho, Sales team doesn't need to access QB. They should use CRM or PM.

Still struggling with the speed, I upsized the partition QB runs on, to well over 4gb free space, for QB alone to enjoy, still the exact same speed....

Done that, been there. Always getting responses pointing at hardware, OS, disk-space etc. Sorry guys, it really has nothing to do with that, its QB that is simply slow, period.

When posting something like building of 100 assemblies, rest assured, you'll be on the computer for over an hour, half of that time you are waiting for the tee-tee confirmation tone.

Its simply that way. What speeds up the process is navigating away from the build-screen instead of waiting, like going to Chrome or another (unrelated) file.

The next thing you need to know is that if you click "build and new", you are faster than "build and close".

To post a thumbs us cheer I had to : 

1) Click on the thumbs up icon, which changed the url and reloaded the page that wanted me to log in. 

2) To log in, I had to type in my email address.  Then it wanted my password. 

3) I put in my password. But that was not good enough.  Intuit emailed me a verification code. 

4) After I checked my email I I opened the email from Inuit, wrote copied the verification code into the 

the little box.  

5) Then a new url opened and Intuit stated it would call my phone with another verification code. 

6) My phone rang.  I wrote down the verification code and then typed it into the little box on the screen. 

7) That opened up URL for this thread and here I am !   

9) Whoopee Dooo Intuit.  Whoopee Doo.

I loaded the new QB Desktop 2020 to a new computer, with no other software programs loaded other than what came with the OS.  As I stated earlier, I have been a QB user for decades and this is by far the worst ever!  Not to mention farming out the support to India...everything response is "perfect"  Not hardly.

Did I ever tell you the story about when I was chatting with QB's 3rd world Tek Suport and the young lady had a rooster in her kitchen?  Ask how I know it was rooster!
