Add inventory option not showing up under products/services

Hi there, anastasiarogers9.

 

This feature is only available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced. If you're using either one of them, let's make sure that the feature is enabled for you to see the Inventory option.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon and click Account and Settings
  2. Under the Sales tab, click the Pencil icon in the Products and Services section. 
  3. Check the box for Track inventory quantity on hand. This will enable you to select Inventory when creating a new item under Products and Services.
  4. Click Save.

This is not working for me. Do I possibly need to upgrade my version of quickbooks?

There's no need to upgrade if you're using the Plus or Advanced version of QuickBooks Online (QBO). Simply follow the steps provided by my colleague above to add the inventory option in the Products and Services. However, if you're using Simple Start or Essentials, you might consider upgrading your QBO to activate this feature.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top right to get to the Account and Settings20.PNG
  2. Choose the Billing & Subscription menu at the left pane, then click Upgrade in the QuickBooks Online section.
  3. Pick a plan you want and select Upgrade.
  4. Verify the payment information, then hit Save to complete the process.

This does not work at all.

All the help points to BS. Their text help does not work either.

If you don't have the option given by my peer, JenoP, in the Plus version of QuickBooks Online (QBO), then I recommend reaching out to our Support Team. They have more tools to pull up your account information and will be able to look into this further.

 

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Sign in to QBO.
  2. From the Help menu, choose Contact us.
  3. Enter your concern in the What can we help you with? field and select Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start messaging or Get a callback.

The Inventory feature is only available in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Plus and Advanced. If you're using either one of them, just make sure that the feature is enabled for you to see the Inventory option. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and click Account and Settings
  2. Under the Sales tab, click the Pencil icon in the Products and Services section. 
  3. Check the box for Track inventory quantity on hand. This will enable you to select Inventory when creating a new item under Products and Services.
  4. Click Save.

 

However, if you're using Simple Start or Essentials, you might consider upgrading your QuickBooks Online subscription to activate this feature. If the same thing happens, try logging in to your account using a private browser to single out the cause of this unexpected behavior. You may use either of these shortcut keys to access your account using a private browser: 

  • Google Chrome, press CTRL  Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL  Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

 

If it works fine, access your account using the original browser and clear the browser's cache. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

Currently, we have an open investigation about being unable to see the Add Inventory Items and Turn on Track Inventory on Hand options. Rest assured, our software engineers are actively working to get this rectified as soon as possible.

 

I'd recommend getting in touch with our technical supports to add your account information to the list of affected users. You can provide this investigation number to our representative for a faster transaction: INV-61493. When you're ready, here's how to connect with us:

 

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Select Talk to a human.
  3. Enter "Talk to a human" again in the search bar.
  4. Choose I still need a human, then click Contact us.
  5. Select Get a callback or Send a message to start a conversation.
