Hi there, @Anonymous.

Welcome to the Community. Let me address your contractors concern so they can accept your invitation.

You will have the option to resend the invite if contractors' Personal details weren't completed yet.

Here's how:

  1. Click on Workers.
  2. Select on Contractors.
  3. Select the contractor's name.
  4. Select Send a reminder.

If you do not have the option to resend the invite, chances are, Personal details of the contractor have been completed. Follow the steps 1-6 in sending an invite to existing contractors to make the Send a reminder link available.

To learn more about inviting a contractor in QuickBooks Online, please check out this article: Invite a contractor to add their own 1099 tax info.

That should do it! Please let me know if I can be of additional assistance. I'll be around to help you out. Take care!

I invited contractors to add personal details, but they're getting a message that the link has expired. Quickbooks doesn't give me an option to resend. What do I do?

Since the update (two or three) the resend email option is missing and I have no way to get our contractors to fill out their information. The link they have is expired (seems to only be good for a couple days which is hard when you have part-time contractors and traveling contractors - some don't get around to it for several weeks as they're super busy and working more than one job. This is frustrating and should not be this hard considering the cost and charges being incurred for every little thing.

Since the update (two or three) the option to RESEND is missing UGH! This is super frustrating and all the links are expired so they're unable to use those. We have contractors that are part-time and work other jobs and travel; some haven't had time to fill out the information and when they do get to it - it's useless and I'm unable to resend to them since it's no longer an option. It should not be this hard to navigate and do considering the costs associated and charged for every little thing. Please advise - and yes, I've done 1-6 and removed things and saved and still no option to resend; and I receive a circle with slash on the 1099 so no way to send that either. Am I missing something? It used to be semi-simple to resend the link out so surely there must be a way (had hoped it would show back up after today's update - but no.

Hi there, @lsfs.

I appreciate your effort in performing the steps provided. I’m here to make sure you’re able to resend the email invite to your contractor in QuickBooks Online.

One possible reason why the option went missing is because of local internet files. Sometimes the cache stores up in your system and causes issues in your web pages like functions inside your QuickBooks not working.

Before attempting to resend the link, log in to QBO on a different browser or using a private window. Let me show you how:

  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Internet Explorer)
  • Command + Shift + N (Safari)
  • Ctrl+ Shift + N (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox)

If it works, you need to clear your browser’s cache and make sure to take note of your saved passwords and URLs. Once done, here's an article with the steps on how to perform clear cache: Delete or disable cache and temporary internet files in your web browser

Now, try to resend the link to your contractor. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Workers tab in the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Contractors.
  3. Click the contractor’s name.
  4. Choose to Send a reminder.

Check out this article that provides additional details: Invite a contractor to add their own 1099 tax info.

That should now allow your contractors’ to add their personal info and get back to business. Reach out to me if you have any follow-up questions, I’m always here to help. Have a good one!

Cache is cleared already (we also do not keep any history etc) and we have it just in case each time internet is closed that cache empties.

As stated, I went through all the steps - not just 1-6 (everything I could read/find) ...

Hi there, lovehate.

Thanks for joining us here!

The most possible reason why you're unable to see the Send a reminder button is due to a browser issue. If you haven't yet, please perform some troubleshooting steps. Let's first use an incognito window and send the reminder from there.

  1. Go to the Payroll tab and select Contractors.
  2. Select the contractor’s name.
  3. Click the Send a reminder link.

These are the shortcut keys:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: Ctrl+ Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

I also suggest clearing the cache since it causes errors in QuickBooks Online. Lastly, make sure that the browser is updated or use a different one.

If this behavior continues, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Support Team so they can further check this. The new "Help" menu interface:

  1. Click the (?) Help icon and choose the Talk to a human option (then type it again when prompted).
  2. When asked by the bot, type "Invite Contractor."
  3. Select I still need a human, then proceed with Contact us.
  4. Tap Let’s talk then choose either Get a call or Start messaging

For the old "Help" menu:

  1. Click the Help icon, then the Contact Us button.
  2. Type "Invite Contractor" in the What can we help you with box.
  3. Proceed with the Let's talk button.
  4. Select either Start messaging or Get a call button.

I've added these links for more details:

I'll be here if you need anything else. Stay safe and healthy!

I'm having the exact same issue, and it's not the first time I've seen this.

I've cleared browser cookies/cache, used incognito windows, different browser... nothing is helping.

I've also tried incognito windows, clearing browser cookies/cache, different browser... the contractor's invite has "expired" and I can not send any reminder, and there is no way to delete contractors and restart the process.

It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing for such a mature company with such a prominent piece of software to overlook this kind've issue.

Thanks for joining us today, @materialinstinct.

I have some information about sending a contractor's reminder. Appreciate your for doing the basic troubleshooting steps. If the W-9 info is not entered in QBO, you can resend the invite by choosing Send email instead of a reminder.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to Payroll then Contractors.
  2. Select the contractor’s name.
  3. Choose Send email.

Once they're done filling out the form, check their profile in your account.

  1. In QuickBooks Online go to Payroll then Contractors.
  2. Select the contractor’s name.
  3. Click the Details tab to see the contractor personal info and the Documents tab to see a copy of the W-9.

For details about inviting contractors, check out these links below:

Give us a call if you're unable to send an email, so we can investigate further. Use this link to reach us: QuickBooks Online Support.

In case you need help with other QBO tasks, browse this link here and look for one that suits your needs.

Feel welcome to message me if you still have questions or concerns about the program. I'll get back to you the soonest. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Having exact same problem.  No "send reminder" option available.  I also do not see an option to "send email".  I have two contractors saying they never saw the original email and asking me to re-send and I can't.  Looking at thread it seems like this has been an issue for some time now.

I want to ensure this is taken care of, @ImaginationMan.

Usually, this error occurs when there's too much cache in your browser. To fix this, let's perform some browser troubleshooting steps. Let's start by opening QuickBooks Online (QBO) through an incognito window. It's the best place to identify web issues. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to see the send reminder option using the private window, go back to the regular browser and clear its cache. We advise customers to clear them out periodically to prevent and fix web issues. You can also try using a different browser. Here's the link: System requirements for QuickBooks Online.

However, if the same thing happens, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Support Team. This way, they can pull up your account securely and help you resolve the issue.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Click Talk to a human.
  3. Type your concern.
  4. Click I still need a human.
  5. Select Contact Us.
  6. Choose either Messaging or Callback.

This problem still hasn't been resolved. Like everyone else here, I am very frustrated that I can't perform a simple task like send an email reminder to my contractors. I have over 40 contractors, and all of them have responded that their link has expired, and I sent it less than 24 hours ago. The reason I am a paying customer of Quickbooks is to make my accounting needs easier. It's tax season and 1099s are due, and Quickbooks is only making the process more challenging. Please resolve this, Quickbooks.

This continues to be an issue for me as well. Very frustrating. Cache / Cookie clear do not fix the problem.

Tell your developers to just leave the `Resend invite` button as always available! Why hide it? Who are you trying to protect? Seems like a waste of business owner's time and your support team's for such a simple product fix.

Hi Jordan.

I can see how seamless it would be to have the Send a reminder link on the contractor's profile. I'm here to make sure that you'll be able to resend the invite.

Usually, the link is missing once the contractor's personal details (business name, email, address, and others) are already added to the system. To isolate the issue, you need to make the contractor's name inactive, then recreate it with the correct email address.

Here's how:

  1. On the contractor's profile, click on the drop-down arrow under Active.
  2. Tap on Mark as inactive, then go back to the Contractors page.
  3. Select Add a contractor.
  4. Input the correct name and email address.
  5. Hit on the Add contractor tab.

I invited contractors to add personal details, but they're getting a message that the link has expired. Quickbooks doesn't give me an option to resend. What do I do?

Hi Angelyn,

The link is not available after the contractor clicks the link and they receive a "Link has expired" message.

BEFORE the contractor clicks the link I can see the "send a reminder" link.

AFTER the contractor clicks the link this link is no longer active for me.

I know that you think the issue is because the user has already submitted their information. But it is not. I already called Quickbooks support team today and here is an order of operations on what happened.

January 22nd

1. Add Contractor A to QuickBooks via Contractors > Add Contractor workflow.

2. Send Invite to Contractor to fill out their own information .

January 23rd

3. Contractor A notifies me they have clicked the link in the email and the "link has expired". (It has been less than 24 hours and the link should not expire in such a short period. Obviously something is wrong with the links being sent from Quickbooks Online emails.)

4. I log in to QuickBooks, and cannot see a `Send a Reminder` link.

5. I search online for help and find this article.

6. I clear my cache and my cookies in my browser.

7. I log back into QuickBooks. No link is visible.

8. I contact QuickBooks Help and request a phone call.

9. Rebecca (Case# [removed]) directs me to make this Contractor A inactive.

10. I create a new Contractor A.v2 and send the invite again.

11. I instruct Contractor A to please register their information.

12. Contractor A clicks the link and the system informs them they've been locked out of the account. They were just logged into Quickbooks 20 minutes prior attempting the first link.

13. I wait 20 minutes.

14. Contractor A tries to login again, this time they once again get the "Link has expired" message. It has only been 20 minutes since I issued the reminder so it should not have expired.

15. We give up, I take down his information manually.

As I pointed out to Rebecca, this service from Quickbooks is obviously broken, as evidenced by the many complaints here.

I'm sure that someone, somewhere within the Quickbooks enterprise is a qualified UX Expert and can speak to a simple solution to fix this:

just always display the button! Why do you hide it ever even after the contractor has attempted to click the link and the session gets corrupt?

After speaking with your UX Expert, perhaps put a Back-End Engineer on the problem and figure out why these links keep expiring? Someone built something poorly, and it seriously hampers the operations and productivity of businesses who are affected and counting on QuickBooks to deliver a stable product and services.

Thank you,

J

Being held up like this when you just want to get your job done can really be frustrating, @Adubs,

I know this has impacted your workflow in QuickBooks Online, but this issue is currently an ongoing problem in the program.

We received several reports about the program not displaying the "Send a reminder" link in Contractor's profile. Our engineers are working on a fix, but we don't have the exact turn around time on when this will be fixed.

The recommended troubleshooting for this problem is creating a new contractor to send the invite again. Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Online go to Payroll then Contractors the select Add a contractor.
  2. Enter the contractor’s name and email in the fields provided, then select Add contractor. We’ll send your contractor an email in real time. The contractor’s profile will save in both the Contractors tab and the Vendors tab.

For additional steps about how to add contractors, see How to set up contractors and track them for 1099s in QuickBooks.

In the meantime, we recommend contacting our Support Team to add your account to the notification list. Once added, you'll receive live updates of the current status of the issue and its fix through email.

Our Live Help are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM til 3:00 PM on Saturdays. To get a hold of a representative to check your account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Help menu then choose the Search tab.

  4. On the next screen, scroll down to How would you like to connect with us section.
  5. Choose Chat with us to initiate a discussion with a live agent.
  6. Enter you account contact information then press Get a chat.
  7. When using this option, make sure to enable pop-up windows. The chat box will appear at the bottom right section of your monitor, and an agent will be with you shortly after. See this:

Reach out to us during our operations hours. You will see it here: Support hours and type.

Provide this investigation number INV-57782 to our representatives so they can add your account there.
