I had to do the same thing!
(In the past... anytime there was an issue, I could ask SunTrust to make those days available. Truist didn't know what I was talking about... So, I manually matched them). :-/
Glad you got it working... It was a real pain!
HERE Is more update. I was on other blog and found this for anyone who doesnt want to subscribe to direct connect. Basically when you try to download QBo file and it gives you error OL-222. Truist needs to fix this on their end but as usual they are no help.
Here is the link. I opened QBo file in notepad and deleted anything that more than 37 chracter long width and imported it and it worked. There were other things you can look for to fix but for me this worked. (FOr ex. deposit needs to be Dep, POS needs to be Debit etc etc.
Here is blog link in quickbook which has more detail discussion
Here is Video showing how to do it

Same problem - wasted so much time!!!
After reading 3 pages of responses and trying what I could...I'm in the same spot...no where! I still cannot use web connect to upload the *qbo file into QB desktop pro 2021. I have already began the investigation into a new bank that has better customer support and better planning for such a large transition to their online banking and how it is going to work with a large third party application as Quickbooks!
And these are the people we intrust with our money! What a JOKE!!
What a life saver!!!!
have not been able to update bank since February 22nd change over to Truist
100% agree. I have spent hours today on trying to get the file to upload into Quickbooks and keep getting the OL-222 error. Neither Quickbooks or Truist has been helpful. I am so frustrated! I will keep checking these threads and hope for a solution. Quickbooks recommended upgrading to newest version which I did for no improvement. Glad I spent that money to upgrade. LOL
Those instructions are only if you want to pay Truist for Direct Connect @$14.95 a month. Why pay when you can manually use WebConnect in the Checking Preferences - change from Classic to Express Mode. Import qbo download using WebConnect.- done!
To correct OL-222 importing error see my other reply post on how to fix.the OFX words & characters errors with Excel, then save & import . Transactions from before 2/21 have the Word DEPOSIT as <TRNTYPE >. The OFX coding should be DEP. It should look like this
<TRNTYPE >DEP
The other error is invalid characters.
This is & Control F, to search so in order to find all of them to delete & Example: The BB&T needs to be changed to BBT..
(I know, SunTrust was different and had a separate pin & customer id). ----HOW DO I GET THIS?
How do I upload a csv to desktop?
I've looked all over Truist accoutn. I don't have preferences anywhere. Nor can i find a place to acitive web connect. But I think it is activated. Just doesn't work Error code OL-222. It is not the & thing.
Thanks for following this thread, @knapiks. Importing bank transactions to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) using the .CSV file is currently unavailable.
You'll want to import them in a .qbo format. I'll guide you with the steps:
After you see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks, select OK. Then, go to the Bank Feeds Center.
You can also check out this article for further insights: Import web connect (.qbo) files.
For future reference, take a look at this article to guide you more when it's time for you to reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

I did not get it working. Now i am doing the pita transition to Truist. they are banks. One would think their techs could do this seamlessly.
It broke when suntrust became Truist so I need a way to import manually an non qbo file. sounds like I cannot. This is painful.
It may not be the & thing, but I am confident it is the word DEPOSIT in the <TRNTYPE> In the qbo file.
tell this to the customer service reps at TRUIST! OFX does not recognize the word DEPOSIT.
The OFX code should be DEP I,be posted how to Edit the qbo file in an Excel file…. Don’t forget to save it after changes before importing
To get around the bank feeds not working. Switch out of classic mode in checking preferences. Click Edit Go to Preferences. Find checking. Click EXPRESS mode at the bottom. You can also search EXPRESS MODE, in Quickbooks HELP.
After switching back to EXPRESS mode checking import your qbo file.. make sure it’s the one you just edited !
Hope this helps

I have been working on this for two weeks! I already am in Express mode. Do I delete DEPOSIT?
Excel file? How do I import an excel file into QB's?
No one works on sundays. I do this job on weekends only.
It was DEPOSIT. this is going to take awhile . 100's of tranactions.
What do I do if I don't have preferences? So I still need to remove & and DEPOSIT?
iS THERE ANYTHING else besides DEPOSIT and &? I removed all those. I was able inimport a week but not a month.
