How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

I have a list of checks entered to be printed at a later date. But they all want to print with an incorrect date. How do you change the date to reflect the date of printing?

How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

Hi there, @c-mbrammer.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can change the check's date by manually editing each of them. The option to batch update the info of the checks is unavailable. Once done, you now print your checks

You can also look for a third-party app that integrates with QBO to help you batch edit the checks. Here's how:

  1. Head to the QuickBooks Apps store page.
  2. From the search bar, enter a keyword of the feature you needExample: Batch edit check's date.
  3. Then, press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Also, feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team to help you do any of your QBO tasks. Our live support operating hours are from Monday to Friday 6 AM to 6 PM and on Saturday 6 AM to 3 PM Pacific Time.

If you need further assistance changing your check's date in QBO, feel free to post a reply below. I'm always here to help.

How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

I can change the date before it prints but it changes it back as it prints to today’s date.   I’ve tried saving it and also creating it as a memorized check. But neither solves my problem.

example…. I want to print a check with the date 9/15/2021.  I change the date from 9/12/2021 before I select print. The check number comes up in the left upper corner and I select print.  When the check finishes printing the date flips back to 9/12/2021   When you get the check out of the printer tray it also says 9/12/2021 not 9/15/2021.

I know how disappointing it is when we're unable to get the output that we expect to see. Worry no more. I can help you change the check date and print it.

Let's update your settings for Checking and ensure that you ticked the Change check date when non-cleared check is printed box in the company preference.

Here's how:

  1. From the Edit menu and then select Preferences.
  2. Go to Checking and then choose Company Preferences.
  3. Tick the Change check date when non-cleared check is printed box.

  4. Hit OK.

Well done! You can now print the checks with the date entered. For more information about updating check details, you can reference this article: Create, modify and print checks.

How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

Thank you....Thank You...THANK YOU!!!

I spent 2 days trying to figure this out.

I had changed the "default date to use for new transactions" and that didn't work.

I didn't see the "change check date when non-cleared check is printed".   You saved me days of agony.

I guess the setting must have changed in a recent up-date.

Best Wishes and Blessings to You!!

In my company settings the box is checked for change check date when non-cleared check is printed and it still prints the current date.

Thanks for trying out the steps to fix the problem, 4425.

I've got another troubleshooting you can try to resolve this. You can use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix the issue.

Here's how:

  1. Close the QuickBooks software.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file and save it to your preferred location.
  3. Run the QuickBooksToolHub.exe file.
  4. Proceed to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Note: If you can't find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program.

Then, run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool by following the steps below:

  1. Using the same file you downloaded (QuickBooks Tool Hub), select Program Problems.
  2. Choose QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.
  3. Try printing the check again and see if it resolves the problem.

If you get the same result, follow Steps 2 to 7 in this article according to the order listed: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Reach back out to me how the steps work. I'll be right here if you need more help.

How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

Hello GlinettC,

I am having the exact same problem as the Original Poster. I have followed all of the suggestion you have made so far:

Re-Booted the PC

Ensure the box "Change check date when non-cleared check is printed"

Rebuild and Verify File

I also ran the QB Tools Hub PDF & Print Repair tool as well as the Program Diagnostics also in the Tool Hub.

None of this has worked. No matter what I do I keep getting checks with today's date.

Please advise.

Thank You

How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

Hello,

So I tried unchecking the box "Change check date when non-cleared check is printed". This seems to have fixed the issue. If it's checked then it overrides whatever date you entered with today's date. But if you uncheck it then it uses the date that you entered on your check.

So I think I am good now. Thank You

That doesn't work. When I go to write a check in desktop, I put a future date in and the go to print and it changes the dang date to the day I am printing. WTH? How do you get the checks to print the date I want them to go out in the future?

How do you change the date of checks TO BE PRINTED if there are a lot?

Hi there, @Gail5701.

I see how challenging it is on your end to print your check with the desired date. Let me help you with this.

Let's try turning the Change check date section in the Preferences. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Edit, then Preferences.
  2. Select Checking.
  3. Choose Company Preferences, and tap the box of the Change check date when non-cleared check is printed to remove the checkmark.

After that, if the same issue persists, let's perform Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop to find the most common issues and the rebuild tool fixes them.

You might want to change or void checks. You can read this article: Create, modify, and print checks.

Feel free to return here if you have additional questions about printing checks. I'll be willing to help. Keep safe.
