Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention, jacksource1.

Great work on the troubleshooting so far. I'm researching to see if anyone else is encountering the same issues at this time.

In the meantime, I've identified some additional steps that may help to resolve this issue. However, I want to make sure I'm on the same page as you, so I'd like to clarify if you were able to set your forms for the envelopes?

If you haven't, then we'll start by making sure it's set up to fit the printed form in the window envelope. You'll find the instructions for doing so below:

To set up your forms for window envelopes

  1. Click the Gear icon, then Custom Form Styles.
  2. Select the form you're using, then Edit.
  3. Go to the Design tab.
  4. Click Edit Print Settings.
  5. Select the Fit printed form with paystub in window envelope option.
  6. Click Done.

There's also a detailed guide on how to print forms for window envelopes here that can offer additional information.

Please keep in touch with me here if you have already tried these steps, or if you have any additional questions. I want to make sure you're taken care of. looking forward to hearing from you again, wishing you and your business all the best.

I tried those steps already.  One would think that if i used the standard invoice from quickbooks and purchased the envelopes from Intuit there would not be an issue.  Why doesnt QB online allow you to move individual parts of the invoice around to format for printing?  I pay for the subscription so that i dont have to worry about upgrading additions.  Updates from QB never seem to happen.   When is a software update on the platform going to be released to fix bugs.

Good day, Jacksource1.

The feature to move parts of an invoice is only available in the Desktop version. I suggest sending feedback to have this considered by the software engineers for inclusion in future updates. You can do that by clicking the Gear icon, then choosing Feedback

We don't have a specific timeline to when we release an update. Though, we release updates every now and then to fix any bugs in our system.

If you need more help, don't hesitate to leave a comment. Happy New Year!

JackieSource1 -  did you ever find envelopes to fit the invoices.  I'm discouraged right now also that my invoices aren't fitting in any envelope.  I really want to single space the address but cannot figure out how to, or even if it's an option.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks for joining us in this thread, sunshine233.

I appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. I'm here to lend a hand and ensure your printing invoices fit window when printing.

The resolution provided by my peer, AldrinS, usually resolves issues like this. Have you tried following the detailed steps outlined in the article above? If you haven't, I suggest trying them out.

If the same thing happens, let's ensure your Adobe Reader is updated and browser is up to date.

To update Adobe:

  1. Open the Adobe Reader app.
  2. Go to Help and click on Check for updates.
  3. Follow the onscreen instruction in the Updater window to install latest updates.

Then, follow these steps to align invoices:

  1. Open the invoice you want to print.
  2. Select Print or Preview twice.
  3. Click on Print.
  4. Make sure to select Letter as the Paper size.
  5. Uncheck Fit to page and ensure scaling is set to 100.
  6. Click on Print.

For further guidance, you can also check out this article: Print sales forms.

After following these steps, your invoices should fit to window envelope once printed.

Please keep me posted how this turns out. I want to make sure everything you're all set with this concern.

Hi @LNCPAS,

I'm here to help and guide you in the right direction as to where you can get a hold of the correct envelope for your invoices.

We suggest getting the envelopes from our Intuit Market. You can find the contact details in this article: Order checks, tax forms, and other supplies. You can be sure that the envelopes you get are compatible with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In case you missed it on this thread, you can view this article to learn how to print forms for window envelopes. You'll find the steps for setting up your QBO for window envelopes.

I'll be around should you still need help. Feel free to post in the comments below, and I'll be sure to get back to you.

I can't line them up either. And I'm a printer! What kind of operation is QBO running that we can't print and invoice and make it fit into a window envelope?

Hi there, poetal.

Sometimes when you start printing an invoice, the line item will not be in the right position. This can be caused by browser compatibility.

Let's use a another browser to confirm if the  compatibility with the  browser  is causing the issue.

If using another browser works,  please check this article on how Downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader, or update will control printing checks in QuickBooks Online: Align how your checks print.

Please check this article for more details in setting up forms for window envelops and find out what forms and supplies are available for QuickBooks Online: How to print forms for window envelopes.

I'll be glad to help you if you have any other questions. Have a good day!

I too bought form envelopes from Intuit Market, and when I print invoices thru QBO, they do not line up correctly and I end up having to fold them all on the side as well as the normal fold. The steps provided on how to "fix" this issue do not work, and I cannot believe not only is this even an issue, but that there have been no steps taken to FIX this issue. I'm getting really close to cancelling my QBO subscription because it's not worth the time and hassle.

Thanks for joining this conversation, laruecomm.

Since the issue persists after trying all the solutions provided by my colleagues above, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team. They're able to check your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using their screen-sharing (remote access) tool and investigate the root cause of the issue. They can also perform other troubleshooting steps to fix this for you.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click the Help (question mark) icon at the upper right of your QBO account.
  2. Select Contact Us at the bottom to connect with our live support.

Just in case, I'll be adding this article for future reference: How to print forms for window envelopes.

Please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns in the comment section. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. Have a good one.

I can get the address to line up with the window envelope. However, the ship to address also appears in the window since it prints to close to the right side of the regular address.

I cannot find a way to move the shipping address so that it won't appear in the window.

Any suggestions??

Thanks for jumping into this thread, katy2020.

You can adjust the margins of your template to move the shipping address so that it won't appear in the window. I'll show you how to do it:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then Custom Form Styles.
  2. Select the form you're using, then Edit.
  3. Go to the Design tab.
  4. Click Edit Print Settings.
  5. Under Page margins, adjust the Top, Left, Bottom, and Right columns.
  6. Click Done.

Thanks for posting here, @MT26,

I can share some insights on how you can align your invoices on Windows envelopes. For this, let's try opening your account in Google Chrome then follow the steps below:

  1. Find the invoice to print.
  2. At the bottom, press Print or Preview twice.
  3. Click Print to open the print preference.
  4. Make sure to select Fit to page then pick the envelope under Paper size.

This article also has the steps to set QuickBooks to print forms on envelopes: How to print forms for window envelopes

If the steps still won't help align the forms, I recommend contacting our Support Team. Our agents can initiate a viewing session or report this problem to our engineers. Here are the contact options below for your reference:

  1. Go to the (?) Help menu and click on Contact Us.
  2. Type the keyword Payroll Account Management and Billing in the What can we help you with? box.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down to the Choose a way to connect with us section.
  4. Choose Start messaging to initiate a discussion with a live agent or Get a call for callbacks.

When using the messaging option, a small discussion box will open at the bottom right section of your monitor. An agent will be with you after filling in the information. See this:

See this link to know more about our support operations: Support hours and type.

Let me know how it goes, as I want to make sure this is taken care of for you. I'm also here if you need further help with anything in QuickBooks. Have a lovely day!

If the fix QB provided doesn't work, try asking for a sample from Blue Summit. I ordered a sample to try out before I purchased the #9 double window envelopes.

I'm having this same issue and it's been YEARS since the problem was brought up.

It appears I have 3 options for printing INVOICES to use with #9 envelopes and all are less than optimal solutions.

Option 1: Click gear icon, edit the invoice form, and manually control the margins. This allows me to use .75" for the top margin so that the name of my company (along with all the other data I can't add/delete) shows in the window. Great, except it pushes down to customers address so it isn't in the second window. This option is USELESS.

Option 2: Click gear icon, edit the invoice form, go down to print settings, and choose "Fit to Window" option which automatically moves my info and the customers info to a specific place on the paper that is supposed to work, but I have no adjustment controls for. In my case, the customer information shows correctly, but the top line of my company info, WHICH IS THE NAME OF MY COMPANY, is too high up and doesn't show. The most infuriating part about this is the entire wasted line that says "US". I'm a pool service company, I don't service outside my county, let alone my state or country. This is highly irrelevant information. But even if it wasn't there, it probably wouldn't move my company name down. This option is USEABLE, but SUBPAR.

Option 3: Build my own custom template. Oh wow doesn't this sound fun!!! Well I attempted it and guess what, they don't include the same templates you're able to choose from in the pre-built edit template screen. I thought for sure they would have included Airy New, Modern, Fresh, etc. All I want to do is take Airy Fresh and adjust the margins for "company info and customer info". I don't want to build a new template from scratch!

One last complaint - Why can't I have the option to display my logo next to my company text without having to build my own custom template?

It's now been 3.5 years since this thread was started and it STILL doesn't work!!!

Just let us adjust invoices and cheques formating so we can put things where they need to be! This is beyond frustrating. And, I swear, if someone from QB responds with the same "follow the same instructions that everyone says don't work" I will scream.

Also having trouble with printing invoices and not having them fit in the window envelopes.  Have followed the customization steps as noted and it does not work.  There are no options for spacing between the return address and the mailing address or lining up the margins correctly.  This seems like a simple basic thing that should function and is frustrating having to spend a lot of time and not be able to make it work.  Also had a call to customer support and they had no idea how to fix it.
