I've done the critical update in QB 2021 and still wants to print 2 to a page. Advice?
I have QB for Mac 2020. The instructions the Quickbooks people are sending are for Windows. Does anyone here have a solution for Mac?
I did the critical update for QB Pro 2021 desktop and says nothing new downloaded. The 1099-NEC forms still set up 2 per page and not 3 per page. How much longer do we need to wait for the update?
Hello there, SAaccountant.
After the updates, you should be able to prepare and print your 1099s with the three tax forms per page. We can reset the update and check if it already available.
Here's how:
Then, update the QuickBooks Server for Mac

I have Desktop Pro 2020 and it doesn't work on mine either for the new 3 per page 1099-NEC. How do I get an update for this since you say it works for my version?
Hello @karma0016.
Thanks for checking in with the Community for information about 3 up NEC forms. Those are available in QB Desktop 2019.
I see that you’ve run the updates, let’s try that one more time.
When you’re updating to the most current release for QuickBooks Desktop, please make sure to enable the Reset Update option. It usually fixes issues related to any critical update, as well as other possible errors within the product. In case you need the steps, here's how:
Enabling the Reset Update option is critical especially if you’ve run updates recently. Once you’ve updated, I recommend closing QuickBooks and restarting your computer once again.
If you’re still not getting the update, your next step will be to uninstall and reinstall your QuickBooks and try to get the updates again.
That should do it! Let me know if you have any additional questions or if there is anything else I can help with.
Hello. I have been checking for updates several times every day for the past week. My system says I have 18.0.12.3448 R13. Is this the most recent update?? If not how do I get the most recent update (s)? I have QB 2019 for Mac.
Hello. I have been checking for updates several times every day for the past week. There aren't any. My system says I have 18.0.12.3448 R13. Is this the most recent update? If not how to I get the update??
Hello there, Bella613. You're QuickBooks Desktop for Mac account is an updated one.
At this time, our product engineers are still working on the 1099s printing for the 2019 and 2020 versions. If you're using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 and 2022, it's now supporting the printing for 1099s.
In the meantime, you can consider downloading the form from the IRS website, then manually filling out the 1099s that have three tax forms per page.
To know more about the updates in QuickBooks Mac, I recommend checking our blog: https://www.firmofthefuture.com/product-industry-news/product-updates/.
To learn more about 1099s, here's an article that you can read: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop.
Please know that you can always get back into this post if you have more questions. I'll keep an eye out for your response.
When will this update be issued? I don't see it yet on my 2020 QG Mac Desktop.
I did the exact update you suggested & it is still only printing the 2 per page 1099 NEC Form. Any other suggestions. I noticed this was also suggested 2 weeks ago & it didn't work then either.
as of today there is no update posted to QBDT.... still waiting to do my IRS docs... HELP!
I have 2019 manufacturing and can not figure out how to print 2021 1099NEC, since it offers 3 in one page, I also have to do 1099MIS, so it is very confusing since QB has print set up just for 1099s
Is any one have any idea how to print these two different forms
Hello, @Hesa.
Thanks for following along with the thread and sharing your concerns with the QuickBooks Community. It's great having you join us.
As my colleagues have mentioned above, we currently don't have a specific time frame when the printing option for the 1099-NEC 3 will be available in QuickBooks Desktop. You'll want to ensure you stay on the most recent updates. To do this, you can follow the steps that my colleague Monica has provided above.
We will keep you posted as updates come available and appreciate your continued patience.
However, to print these forms, I've included some steps below.
Check out Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop for additional information about this process.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
Wow - this is stunning. How many millions of 1099 NEC are not able to be printed because Intuit didn't address this in time? Hoping the update to be able to print 3 per page on QBDT 2020 Mac comes before the deadline.
HELP!!! nothing yet for my QB2019 for Mac, this is unacceptable !
I'm here to provide information about your 1099-NEC forms printing concern, @robwolo.
To isolate the issue, you have to ensure that you have the latest release of a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop. To verify the release you have, please press the F2 key on your keyboard if you are in QuickBooks right now. If you're not in the latest release, you can perform the following steps:
Additionally, below are the releases required to print 1099-NEC forms 3 to a page in QBDT for Mac:
Just in case you want to view, print, email, or mail the forms you've created and submitted, you can follow the steps in the Tax1099 article for the detailed instructions: Where Can I See My Submitted Forms?.
Drop a comment below if you have any other questions in processing your 1099 forms in QBDT. I'm just a post away to help. Have a good one.
Any idea of when "soon" is?
Hello, robwolo.
I understand how important it is that you print the new NEC form 3 pages. When our software is built, we are not given the most recent 1099 form. We'll have to incorporate them into our code much later. We typically add this information through patch releases and payroll updates.
At this time, we don't have the exact time frame as to when this will be available for QuickBooks Mac 2020 and QuickBooks Mac 2019. Rest assured, our engineering team is already working on incorporating it into the next update.
Once the new update already rolled out, all you need to do is to update your QuickBooks. You can follow the step outline by my colleague
Catherine_B to update your software.
I've also added this article for your reference: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop.
The Community always has your back, and I'm just a post away if you need further assistance with processing your NEC forms. Just leave a comment below and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with a very kind Quickbooks consultant, but even though we tried every conceivable way to get Quickbooks 2022 Pro Plus to print 3 up 1099 NECs, it was not working. One fix even did to me what it did to some others- fixed all payments in the box 15 with no option out of it. After running the repair system, that corrected itself finally....BUT STILL NO WAY TO PRINT 3 UP 1099 NECs!!!!!!
This is a major problem and Quickbooks needs to fix it immediately. There is no call to stress out all your customers who have their own customers waiting no so patiently for the 1099s to be completed. Please address the issue in a truely CORRECT way. And yesterday, if possible.
That is interesting because you sell the 1099's with the new 3 to a page yet you don't update your software to be able to print this forms. ARGH!
Has anyone gotten ANY version of Quickbooks to print 3 per page 1099-NEC ??? Please share what version you used if successful. I have downloaded all patches / updates etc in both Desktop Enterprise 19 and Desktop Pro Premier 2021 and they are still not working. Please let our community know if anyone has had sucess yet. So far Quickbooks Reps have been completely unhelpful
Thanks for chiming in the thread, @shelliott423.
Allow me to share an update about your 1099-NEC forms printing concern.
Below are the releases required to print 1099 NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows
When getting the most updated release for QBDT, I'd suggest enabling the Reset Update option. This will fix errors related to any critical update, as well as other possible issues within the product. Let me guide you how:
Once done, I'd recommend closing your QBDT program and restarting your computer.
If you’ve can't still see the 3-part 1099 capability after performing the instructions above, the next step is to uninstall and reinstall your QBDT.
You can check out this article for more details about preparing 1099:Print your 1099 Forms in QuickBooks.
Please feel more than welcome to send a reply if there are any additional questions about printing the 1099-NEC 3 per page. I'll be right here to help you.
@shelliott423 - I am able to print 1099-NEC 3-up forms with QBDT 2019, 2020 and 2021 with Windows 10. I think some folks are having trouble with Windows 11. Some of my clients are having trouble with their local QB files on their own computers, but my workaround has been to copy their Company file to my computer and print the forms for them. If you have another computer available to you, you might try printing from it instead. Good luck to you!
