Good news. The update for QB for Mac 2020 is available as of today
I'm on QB Pro 2022, did all the suggested updates and still cannot print the 1099 NEC 3 up forms. Deadline is approaching quickly, hope it's fixed SOON!
Hello, Connie221.
It's important we're able to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Since you're still unable to print after the updates, the best thing to do here is to contact our Customer Care Team. They can review your 1099 setup and help you fix any issues, so you can print the form.
Please take note that our support hours for QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Plus starts from M-F 6 AM to 6 PM. For QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, we're available any time, any day.

I have updated 2021 Quickbooks desktop and when I try to print the 1099-NEC, it sends the info to the printer but then it goes away. Nothing in the printer queue. It will print the 1099-MISC but not the NEC. I don't know how to fix this to make it print. It won't even print the preview. I have updated the computer to windows 11 so that might be the problem. I was able to print the 1099-NEC from QB 2020.
Repeat what Connie 221 says. I am running QB Pro 2020, have done all the updates available. Using R13-28. Still can't print the 3 up Forms NEC.
Welcome to this thread, HT70123.
I appreciate you for trying out the suggested steps above so you can print 3 to a page for 1099 NEC.
Since the troubleshooting steps didn't work, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Team. This now requires a thorough investigation and identify why you're still unable to print 3 pages of 1099-NEC despite downloading the updates. You can follow RenjolynC's instructions on how to reach us.
I'm adding this IRS article for further details about 1099-NEC: Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC. It contains the complete set of instructions and the latest information about the form.
To learn more about what you need to do when filling the 1099-NEC, I suggest checking out this article: 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC Filing.

We purchased the new 1099 forms from Intuit. Our QB is up to date with the Enterprise Contractor 22.0 version. The new forms we bought and that the IRS is using are 3 to a page. When we try to print in QB they are still 2 to a page. WHEN is this being updated? It is getting late in the month.
Hello, @LJ331.
Thanks for taking the time to follow along with the thread and sharing your concerns here in the QuickBooks Community.
It's great that you're updated to QuickBooks 2022. However, it's important to ensure you have the latest release update of 2022. Let's try resetting your updates to ensure you get the newest one available.
Here's how:
If you’re still not getting the update, your next step would be to uninstall and reinstall your QuickBooks and try to get the updates again.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this process. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
What release version are we talking about here? All release version of all supported version of QB doesn't say something about the 1099 NEC update.
I am talking about the release version from the this link.
Hi @LJ331 ,
I just wanted to share that I tried to install the updates on my QBDT 2022 yesterday, reset the update and all that. What DID work was that after I downloaded updates, closed QB and when I restarted it, I had to right-click and select the "Run as administrator" option in order for the updates to actually install. After it updated, I check and was running the R3 release and was able to print the 1099-NEC in the 3-up format.
Good luck.
I can help you with printing your 1099-NEC form, @iamrichardlim.
You should now be able to print 3 to a page for 1099-NEC. All you need to do is make sure you are on the latest releases with the appropriate critical fixes.
Here are the releases required to print 1099 NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows:
Here's how to get these critical fixes:
When the update is finished, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. Click Yes to install the updates, then restart your computer.
Once the latest release is available, here's a reference on how to print your 1099s and provide copies to your contractors: Print your 1099 forms.
I'm always here if you have questions about your forms. Just let me know by leaving a reply below. Have a great rest of the day!
The only reply I got says that I should have, in QBDT 2020, R13_39. What I have is R 13_28. I have repeatedly updated. Critical features is checked. Nothing new downloads. How can I make it add new critical features? What stops QB from adding these additional features? Why is it not adding these new critical features?
I am running Desktop Pro 2020, have run all updates and still get the old 1099 NEC form

this did not work - I will try the support route. I have 4 hours into this already :(
I have been on a support phone call 3 different times. There is currently NO UPDATE that will take care of this issue. It is not You, it is QB. They don't have the update ready. They told me they would email me when it was ready. Last time I called was last Thursday. They had no date they could confirm with me that it would be ready for updates.
Just waiting.........
I have been on the phone with support multiple times. The update is not ready. They had no timeline of when it would be ready.

They still have not done the update for the 2021 1099-NEC forms for QB 2019 desktop and according to QB they told me I should upgrade to 2022 in order for the forms to print the correct way. This was on Friday 1/14/22. Is anyone using 2019 version able to print the forms correctly?
Finally got the help I needed from QB Call staff - I had to click "reset Update" and run the updates again, restart my program, run a payroll update and it finally is coming up 3 per page. **Note I had to remap my 1099 account to get them in the NEC form but that was the easy part!!

I tried the critical fixes update. It is not working. The 1099 NEC are still printing the old 2-up format.
These are due to the IRS next week and QB's hasn't come up with the fix. I paid to update my QP to the 2022 pro, thinking this would work. When will the fix be release?
I'm still trying to update my QP to run the 2021 NEC 1099. Have you been successful?
This did not work. Not happy!

If you have additional questions about 1099-NEC or need help with printing forms in QuickBooks, please let me know. I'll be here to lend a hand. Have a good one.
You are correct. This is UNACCEPTABLE. QuickBooks programmers should have had this fixed weeks ago!!! VERY UNHAPPY with their attitude right now. All the answers just skirt around and answer other questions that clearly are not what is being asked.
WHEN will the fix for 3 Up 1099 NEC's be ready. If I'm stuck with a LOT of 3 Up forms I'm really going to be upset with QuickBooks!!!
