Cancelled Subscription - Message insinuates access for more than a year if you have another subscription?

We recently sold a company and are now cancelling our QBO subscription. We have one other QBO account, and are about to launch yet another.

When I cancelled it, I received this message popup (see attachment): "You can view your data as long as you have another active subscription. If you don't have another subscription, you can still view your data for one year after your subscription ends."

I added the bold and underline.

We all know that we have access for a year after cancelling, but this appears to state that if we have another active subscription, that we have indefinite access.

I called support and they stated they only knew of having 1 year of access after cancellation.

Does anyone have insight as to whether or not the message is true, and how we would confirm they know we have another active subscription (in the case where we might use a different email)?

Thanks!

Thanks for the immediate response, @Allllan.

I am also excited and thrilled about the new cancellation policy update with QuickBooks Online (QBO). That's why I'm here to share further details and clarification about this.

Yes, based on the pop-up message, you'll need to have another active QBO subscription so you can perpetually access your canceled account. However, it's only possible when you're using the same email address for your other account to know that you've opened a new subscription to us and that the two share the same owner.

For the time being, we don't have any insight as to when this new policy or feature change be published by Intuit. Rest assured that this new update is now operational and implemented to canceled QBO accounts.

On the other hand, we'll let you know about the update and publish the new QBO cancellation policy on the QuickBooks blog. I encourage you to visit both the page and the article above from time to time, so stay tuned.

Once again, I'd recommend checking out one of our Help pages as your reference to guide you in managing your data and business's growth and transactions using QBO: QuickBooks Learn and Support. It also includes QuickBooks help articles, Community discussions with other users, and video tutorials, to name a few.

That's it. If you have other clarifications and account management concerns, let me know in the comments below. I'll gladly help. Take care always, @Allllan.

Cancelled Subscription - Message insinuates access for more than a year if you have another subscription?

Hello there, @Allllan.

I'm here to share some insights about the cancellation message pop-up you've received while canceling your QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription so you can manage your data accordingly.

Yes, I can confirm that the message is true. Historically, if a subscription was canceled, customers like you would have view-only access to your data for 12 months (365 days). However, going forward with our new update, all customers who cancel a paid subscription (not trials) will have perpetual view-only access to their data and be able to re-subscribe at any point.

Moreover, we're unable to confirm that you have another active subscription if you're using a different email address. It'll only be possible when you're utilizing the same one for your other account.

In case you've used a different email address for your active QBO subscription, the data of the cancelled one will be deleted completely after a year.

You can learn more about what will the subscription cancellation means for your QBO data by checking out this article: What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?.

Since you have another QBO account and are about to launch a new one, you may want to check out one of our Help pages as your reference in managing your data and business transactions using QBO: QuickBooks Learn and Support. It also includes QuickBooks help articles, Community discussions with other users, and video tutorials, to name a few.

Cancelled Subscription - Message insinuates access for more than a year if you have another subscription?

Hey @Rea_M !

The link doesn't mention anything about perpetual access. There are still some things you didn't clarify:

1. Do you need to have another "active subscription" to QBO for the cancelled subscription to be accessed perpetually?

2. How will they know I have another subscription if I use a different email address?

3. Do you have any insight when this policy/feature change will be published by Intuit?

If this is true, I am sure a LOT of people will be excited about this change!
