Hello,
I was able to switch to Firefox and add one new item. Then went to the second item and had the same issue as with Chrome. Cache and cookies have been cleared in both.
The ability to designate sales tax is gone on both Chrome and Firefox. I have come to assume it has something to do with the tax edit area being gone. Before this happened if sales tax wasn't edited the software would not save a new item.
Thoughts?
Hi JaeAnn,
I was able to enter a new item once using Firefox. I moved on to the second and got the same result as Chrome, unable to Save and Close.
One thing worth mentioning is that with both, the ability to edit sales tax when entering new inventory is gone. In the past, until I designate whether an item is taxable or non..., the software would not let me Save and Close.
I have re-booted, opened and closed, logged on and off..., and nothing brings back the tax editing portion of entering new products. I beleive that is the problem. Is this the QB Online glitch of the day?
Thoughts?
Thank you for your effort in troubleshooting the missing option on your inventory item, 2A. Let me share a workaround to ensure you can add sales taxes and save them.
The checkbox for taxable items is no longer available during the setup. However, you can add them to the invoice form and edit sales tax from there. Here's how to do that:
I recognize the convenience of having the option to make an item taxable when adding or editing a product or service. Since this field is no longer available, I recommend submitting a request regarding this change so our product developers can consider reinstating it in future updates. Follow the steps below:

Hi Jamaica,
I'm not sure if I'm chatting with the right department. I need technical support for a problem I am having entering items in inventory. Yes, tax a part of the equation, but first I need to have the ability to add inventory for new items that were received yesterday and today. There is some urgency here as I have customers coming to purchase some of these items and they need to be in stock for me to do so.
Can you forward this conversation to tech support so I don't have to repeat myself?
Thank you

Hello,
I'm having the same issue as the other person ~ I can't add new inventory items either. Like the other user, I also noticed that the Sales Tax editing area was suddenly missing from the inventory Add screen, but in my case that was a blessing because our sales are non-taxable anyway... but the fact that the missing Sales Tax area coincided with my sudden inability to add new products made me think those two things were related. When I enter all of the product information and click "Save and Close", that button is unresponsive ~ nothing happens, so I have to just close out of that screen without being able to add my product. I really need to be able to add new products, so please advise ~ I've already tried clearing my cache, and in fact I've tried this on two different computers with the exact same results. And we've been adding new inventory products almost every day with no issues whatsoever until very recently. Today was the first time I had a problem. Fast help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

Good morning,
After an hour and a half on the phone with tech support, we have still not resolved this issue. For those of us using QuickBooks as a POS to conduct day to day over the counter sales and inventory management, a 1-2 business day resolution is not acceptable. After digging deeper, we did find an error in settings. Is it possible that our accounts have been downgraded and inventory management is not showing as subscribed? Please find the attached screenshot found under Account and Setting.
Good morning, @2A.
Thanks for coming back and adding some additional information.
I see that you're running into a subscription error when trying to fix your inventory issue. That can be frustrating!
There isn't any on-going investigations with this error message at this time. With that being said, we recommend contacting our Customer Support Team for further assistance again. They have other tools that we can't use due to this being a public platform. Here's how:

I am able to add a new product, however, I cannot choose 'taxable' or 'non-taxable' in the set up. That section is GONE!
This is a necessary piece of setting up & editing products!!!!!
Right now, if I set up a new product, it's automatically 'taxed'. If I open a product that's already been created, it switches automatically to 'taxable'. I can't put it back to 'non-taxable'.
Now, when I create an estimate or invoice, I have to remember to unclick the 'tax' box on the right side of the line item.
This could really mess up our sales tax reporting!
My QBO customer service member told me that today she just learned that this piece of the product set-up screen has been removed from the program. WHAT?!?!?!
We received no notice, before or after the removal AND no way to work around this issue!
I have to have the sales tax section put back. We all do!!!!!
