Hi. I cannot see the Export option under Utilities even though I have logged in as Admin using QB Desktop Premier 2021 Trial Version to restore client back-up and move to QBO. Any idea?
Any ideas?
Thanks for joining this thread, @adezyanian.
I'll make sure you'll be able to export your data and import them to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before we begin, you'll want to read this link to learn what data will be exported and imported to QBO: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Nevertheless, I can share some steps on how to isolate and fix this issue. I suggest running the Verify Rebuild data tool in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This scans your file for potential errors and quickly fixes them. I'll show you how.
You can also check this link for more detailed steps: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Once done, you can now restore and export and import your data to QBO. Please make sure to run both financial reports in your QBDT and QBO to check if the data was transferred successfully.
When everything is all set, you can refer to these links for guidance in knowing your ways around QBO:
I'm always to back you up whenever you have other questions about moving your data to QBO. Take care and have a dazzling day ahead!
Thanks for further information. However, the issue is that there is no EXPORT DATA FOR QBO in any of the menus.

Are you sure using the trial version for QB Desktop 2021 US Premier edition?
No it's the UK version
Your post is in US community. Do you need to migrate data from QBD UK version to QBO US version or QBO UK version?
Not sure what is wrong with Quickbooks Desktop 2023 version. There is no link for exporting/migrating Desktop data to the Online version. I tried using File>Utilities option too, but no luck. My IT person says, it is not possible to export, but I am sure QB must have some solutions for it.
Do you have QB Desktop 2023 Enterprise?
Yes, I do.
1. Sign in as an admin to the company file you want to import.
2. On your keyboard, press Ctrl + 1 to open the Product Information window. Make sure your Total Targets < 750K before converting data to QB Online. Otherwise, you should consider your options.
3. Press Ctrl + B + Q, then select OK.
4. On the export window, select Start your export.
5. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
6. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop:
Select Yes to bring them over, then specify the as of date.
Select No if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks Online.
Note: Only QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced can track inventory. Both plans use the FIFO method.
7. Select the Choose online company▼ dropdown, then select the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file.
8. Select Continue.
9. Enter “Agree” in the text field, then select Replace.
10. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.
You can follow the steps mentioned by 4Gal.
Keep in mind, it is only applicable converting your data to QBO US version. You need other options converting data to QBO non-US version.
@4GalThank you so much for the detailed steps. Prob is only that Export option is not available even in Company menu. I checked out all the Menus, but found it nowhere.
