@useraccounting9

Make sure you are migrating data from any supporting QBD version (i.e 2018 or later). If you are using an outdated version, utilize the trial license of QBD 2021 to convert your file and migrate to QB Online.

Hi. I cannot see the Export option under Utilities even though I have logged in as Admin using QB Desktop Premier 2021 Trial Version to restore client back-up and move to QBO. Any idea?

Thanks for joining this thread, @adezyanian.

I'll make sure you'll be able to export your data and import them to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we begin, you'll want to read this link to learn what data will be exported and imported to QBO: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

Nevertheless, I can share some steps on how to isolate and fix this issue. I suggest running the Verify Rebuild data tool in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This scans your file for potential errors and quickly fixes them. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Window menu and select Close All.
  2. Then go to the File menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Click Verify Data.
  5. Go back to the File menu.
  6. Select Utilities.
  7. Click Rebuild Data.

You can also check this link for more detailed steps: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop

Once done, you can now restore and export and import your data to QBO. Please make sure to run both financial reports in your QBDT and QBO to check if the data was transferred successfully.

When everything is all set, you can refer to these links for guidance in knowing your ways around QBO:

I'm always to back you up whenever you have other questions about moving your data to QBO. Take care and have a dazzling day ahead!

Your post is in US community. Do you need to migrate data from QBD UK version to QBO US version or QBO UK version?

Not sure what is wrong with Quickbooks Desktop 2023 version. There is no link for exporting/migrating Desktop data to the Online version. I tried using File>Utilities option too, but no luck. My IT person says, it is not possible to export, but I am sure QB must have some solutions for it.

You can follow the steps mentioned by 4Gal.

Keep in mind, it is only applicable converting your data to QBO US version. You need other options converting data to QBO non-US version.

@4GalThank you so much for the detailed steps. Prob is only that Export option is not available even in Company menu. I checked out all the Menus, but found it nowhere.

We appreciate you for joining us here in the thread, @Arpan. Let me help you move your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) data to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QuickBooks enables you to transfer your data files from QBDT to QBO for an enhanced business management experience. Before moving to QBO, it is recommended to learn about its benefits. Ensure your QuickBooks software is updated and the company file is not too large when importing to avoid any issues.

Since you followed 4Gal's process to export the file but still have issues, contacting our support team is suggested. They will assist you in exporting your QBDT data to QBO. Here's how to contact them:

  1. In your QuickBooks, click Help (?).
  2. To get started, choose either tab:
  • Assistant: Choose a suggestion or type your question for fast, personalized answers.
  • Search: You can either search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly or select Contact Us to connect with us.
  •       Start a chat with a support expert.
  •      Get a callback from the next available expert.
  •       Ask the community to get help from businesses like yours.

Once done, you might want to gain a deeper understanding of how data is being transferred in QuickBooks Online: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

On the other hand, use this article as a guide to start your business inside QBO: Learn what to do after you move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

Reply to this post for more questions about exporting data from QBDT to QBO. I'm always here to assist. Have a great day!
