Hello treasurer16,
We've been seeing posts similar to yours. The recommended troubleshooting step to be able to e-file and e-pay tax forms is to clear browser's cache. Once done, please go back to the Payroll Tax Center page to e-pay and e-file your tax forms again.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Did these troubleshooting steps resolve your problem, it has not mine.
Hi, @USRPAPA.
I appreciate you for sharing the result after clearing your browser's cache. I can share with you some additional troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.
First, I recommend checking out the payment method set from the Payroll Settings. One possible reason why you aren't to pay the taxes electronically is when the manual option is selected.
Here's how:
After that, try to pay your taxes again. Just in case you're getting an error, I would be glad if you can share the message here on this thread. This way, I can gather enough resources and give you the right resolution to fix the issue.
For more resources about filing and paying taxes in QuickBooks Online, I recommend checking out these articles:
Moreover, here's an article you can open to for more tips about processing year-end payroll/form in QuickBooks: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.
Please let me know how this works out on your end. I'm determined to get this resolved for you. Keep safe!
I'm getting an error as well when I try to pay the federal taxes. I tried clearing the cache, etc. and double checking my filing selections. When I try to access help, it doesn't connect me.
Welcome, @anabananz4.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. Let's work together to get this resolved.
Before digging into this issue, I'll need to gather some more information from you:
Can you provide me with the error message you're receiving?
This will allow me to look on the back end and make sure there's no on-going investigations that are open about this problem. I'll be waiting for your response!

When I tried to reach support earlier it wouldn't allow me to. Clicking on "get a human", "still need a human" didn't open a new window that gives the option to chat or call.
Where is this mystery "Your Company" option?
Hi there, @CECS1.
I'm here to help you locate the Your Company option in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If you have a payroll subscription, the payroll settings will show under the Your Company. Please see the screenshot below for visual preferences.
In the meantime, you can e-pay your taxes directly to your state website. I'm also adding this handy article about the commonly used articles to get started with Payroll.
Please know that we're always here to help you so don't hesitate to reach us anytime. Thanks for posting and have a lovely day.
Thank you Deb - that helped. Why your collogue didn't start their instructions with "Click the Gear Icon" I will never know.
But, alas, on the Your Company -> Payroll settings page there is no " E-file and e-pay section".
Joining in on this thread to help you access the E-file and e-pay section in QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can automate the filing and paying of taxes, @CECS1.
With QBO Payroll, you may have us automatically pay and file your federal and state taxes on your behalf. If you don't have the option to e-file and e-pay, it's possible that your e-services aren't enabled yet in your account.
Here's how to set it up:
After completing all tasks, I advise contacting our customer support team. They are equipped to handle the processing of your enrollment with the IRS, state, or local tax agency. Some admission may take time, so we may offer instructions to pay and file them on your own until it's finished.
I'll share this article for the full details: Set up e-file and e-pay in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
Moreover, QBO offers several payroll reports to help you get a closer look at your business' finances in more detail. They include information of your employee wages, taxes, and deductions that will better assist you during tax filing.
Keep me posted on any additional concerns you have relating to electronically filing your taxes. The Community is open anytime to address your questions. Be safe and have a nice day ahead!
Thank you JaeAnn - I contacted online support and they explained that the State filing was still pending approval (I'm not sure if it is approval for our specific company or for Quickbooks Online to file in my state for any business), however they said that we should get an email in about 4 weeks to confirm if it is active, and that in the mean time just to pay manually.
Nothing on Quickbooks Online explains this, so you really need to contact an agent to find this out, which isn't ideal.
Thanks for following up with the Community, CECS1.
I'm happy to hear JaeAnnC was able to help you find out more information about your registration for e-services.
Since e-services aren't active yet, you can pay taxes manually if necessary.
Here's how:
You can also file forms manually:
I've also included a detailed resource about paying and filing taxes/forms which may come in handy moving forward: Pay & file payroll taxes/forms
Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have an awesome Wednesday!
