When you're having trouble signing into your account, it's because you may have entered the wrong credentials. If you're not sure of your user ID or password but still have access to your phone and email on file, you can reset your information. To do so, follow the steps below:

 

  1. Go to our sign-in help page.
  2. Enter the phone number, email address, or user ID for your account.
  3. If you enter a phone number or email address, we’ll send you a text or email with a verification code. If you enter a user ID, choose which method you prefer.
  4. Enter the verification code we sent, or follow the instructions in the message. We may ask you for a little more info to make sure it’s you.
  5. When prompted, reset your password. Or, you can select Skip.

I can see how important it is to send your invoices to your customers on time from QuickBooks Desktop. 

 

There are possible reasons why you are unable to send an invoice in QuickBooks. One of the reasons is that the QuickBooks Desktop version you are using is outdated. Make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release

 

The other reason is that something in your web email security settings is preventing you from sending forms through QuickBooks. To fix this you'll need to review your email provider's security settings and other filter preferences.

 

If you're using Gmail, here's what you can do:

 

  1. Enable access for less secure apps.
  2. You can also set access preferences for specific apps such as QuickBooks.
  3. Return to QuickBooks and email yourself a test transaction. If it still doesn't work, you can disable the 2-Step Verification feature in your Gmail account.

 

Also, you'll be prompted to authorize QuickBooks Desktop whenever you send a transaction if you've set up Gmail to use enhanced security. You can use this link as a reference: Reauthorize QuickBooks Desktop to keep using Gmail


If you're using Yahoo! mail, here's what you need to do:

 

  1. Go to your Yahoo Account Security page.
  2. Turn on the Two-step verification and Allow apps that use less secure sign in features.
  3. Go back to QuickBooks and email yourself a test transaction. If you still can't send emails, use Yahoo's generate third-party app passwords tool. It creates a random password you can use to connect QuickBooks. You only need to do this once.

Have you lost your QuickBooks Desktop icon in your desktop window? If so you can follow these steps on how to show it:

 

  1. Go to your Desktop window.
  2. Right-click and hover your mouse to view.
  3. Tap on show desktop icons.

However, if you're referring to your QuickBooks data, then I can give you steps to recover your data, but before doing so let's make sure that your QuickBooks is up to date.

 

Here are the steps to recover your data:

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. Create a new folder and name it QBTest.
  3. Open the folder where the company file is saved and look for the QuickBooksAutoDataRecovery folder.
  4. Navigate for the.TLG.adr and .QBW.adr files. These files have the same name as your company file.
  5. Copy the.TLG.adr and .QBW.adr files and paste them to the QBTest folder.
  6. On your QBTest folder, remove the .adr from the end of the file name. 
  7. Open the company file that is saved in your QBTest folder. Use your account register to verify all transactions are there.
  8. To check the data integrity of the recovered file. In the top left, click on File then Utilities, and then Verify Data.
  9. If the company file copy is valid, you can move the damaged file to a new location and transfer the copy from QBTest to the original location.

Here are a few reasons why the error message "There's a new QuickBooks software update waiting for you. Looks like you don't have the needed permissions" appears:

 

  • When QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) isn't run as an administrator.
  • Or, there are pending QuickBooks updates that need attention.

 

I've got guidelines you can follow to fix it. First, run QuickBooks Desktop as an administrator. To do this, right-click the QuickBooks app icon, and choose Run as Administrator.

 

Next, enter your login credentials as you access your company file. If you can't log in, you can try manually resetting your password. Alternatively, use our Automated password reset tool.

 

Moving forward, ensure you're in single-user mode. Go to the File menu and then select Switch to Single-user Mode. Then, update your QuickBooks to its latest release after logging in successfully. It will get you the newest features and fixes.

 

Follow these steps to update your QBDT:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.


     
  2. Select the Options tab, and then click Mark All.
  3. Pick Save.


     
  4. Proceed to the Update Now tab.
  5. Check the Reset Update box, and then click Get Updates.

 

Close and open your QBDT after the upgrade is complete. Restart your computer to refresh the program and apply all the patches.
