QuickBooks has a time-saving feature to help you prepare your 1099s from the info you already have in your accounts. When preparing 1099 forms, if you choose not to e-file with Intuit, you'll want to print out copies to mail and complete your filing with the IRS, plus print and send a copy to each of your contractors.
Intuit offers 1099 Forms (two per sheet) with a size of 8 1/2" x 11" and compatible double-window envelopes of 5 5/8" x 8 3/4". However, with the new tax year 2021, form 1099-NEC was resized, and the height of the form was reduced to accommodate three forms on a page. That said, QuickBooks can print 1099's three to a page instead of two to a page.

I'd like to inform you that QuickBooks is not yet updated for the recent changes about printing 3 to a page 1099 Form.
We will definitely let you know once QuickBooks will release an update that will allow you to print your 3 to a page 1099s. The release update will most likely be implemented before the 1099 filing season begins.
Just make sure to download and install any payroll updates once prompted. You can also it manually by following these steps:

I can see the urgency to be able to print the 1099- NEC forms, @dgates.
As of this time, QuickBooks prints two forms per page for 1099-Nec.
Before year-end, QuickBooks update the form to be compliant with IRS. Thus, I recommend checking our Product Updates page for reference to be notified of any news and updates about QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
As a way around, you’ll want to look for a third a party app that lets you print 3 pages of the 1099 form. You can go to the Apps Center from your QBDT software and browse for an app from there.

What would the app be called and is there a cost? I can't see a print app.

We're unable to suggest a specific third-party tool and printing app to use. This is because each app has different functions and benefits. I suggest visiting our App Center website. You can scan through the site to get a better comparison of the available apps to achieve your goal.
With regards to printing the 3-page 1099-NEC forms, we don't have a specific time frame when the printing option will be available in QuickBooks. Rest assured that the release update will most likely be implemented before the 1099 filing season begins.

My QB 2019 for Mac is up to date but will only print 2 1099s per page and the form has 3 per page. How do I print 3 per page?

As of the moment, what my colleague mentioned above that the 1099 NEC form with 3 parts is not yet available. Currently, we don't have the specific time-frame as to when will be the completion of printing the 3-page 1099-NEC forms in QBDT. Rest assured that will keep you up to date via email or in-product notifications with its availability.
Right now, we can only print two 1099 forms per page in QuickBooks. It would be convenient if you could print three forms per page. Here's an article for more details about printing 1099 forms: Set up and print 1099s (Mac).

Currently, a 1099 NEC form with two to a page is unavailable. A 3-part form will be accepted by IRS. For now, let's wait for the next release of the QuickBooks Desktop for the complaint.

What a bunch of bull. What QB is saying is that THEY didn't think ahead of time to comply with IRS changing the 1099 NEC forms for 2021 to 3 to a page, so QB will only print in 2 to a page. So what us millions of QB bookkeepers are left with is:
Try to find a 2 to a page form SOMEwhere, which I haven't found;
Call IRS and see if we can get 3 to a page forms by Jan. 31;
See if IRS will accept MISC forms since QB messed up;
See if there is a form 1099 to buy with software;
Try to do it thru IRS online.

I can share some information about printing the 1099-NEC forms, @rayc325.
You should now be able to print 3 to a page for 1099-NEC. Just make sure to have the latest release with the appropriate critical fixes.
Follow the steps below:
When the update is finished, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. Click Yes to install the updates, then restart your computer.

Just to be sure - after I do the update I will still be able to print 1099-MISC 2-Forms per page and the 1099-NEC will then print 3-Forms per page. Is that correct? Thanks, Mike Delancey

When updating QuickBooks, you’re allowing it to apply for the latest maintenance releases. This will resolve any unusual behavior you encounter in the program and let it apply the patch for critical fixes.
Yes, you’re correct. You’ll still be able to print the 1099-MISC (2 forms per page). While the 1099-NEC is printed on 3-forms per page.
I can see that my colleagues already provided these articles. I’m adding them again for additional resources. From there, you’ll learn how to print the federal tax forms. Also, process the tax forms in the desktop program.

There are over 20 QuickBooks users with 7 company files nationwide in my organization.
Since I am the only person that produces Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC is it OK if only I apply the latest maintenance release to the computer I use, rather than everyone applying the latest maintenance release to all the computers. Will we still all be able to share & update the company files on our network server?

The update process in a multi-user environment involves updating the QuickBooks server first. Then, update each workstation later. Until the QuickBooks server has been updated, all workstations should exit QuickBooks.
That being said, updating one computer won't share updates to other computers.
You can follow these steps to perform an update in a multi-user environment:
Please know that it’s not recommended to run different releases on workstations in the same network. Therefore, once the update process has been started, it’s important to successfully complete it on all workstations in the network.

I have done all the updates and restarts and still cannot print 3 to a page. These deadlines are coming soon. What do I do now.

I know this is crucial for you to print the 3 to a page 1099 NEC, and I also feel that haste since the deadline is near. For you to print it successfully, ensure that you have the required release below to print 1099 NEC and the latest tax table:
QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Windows:
QuickBooks Desktop for Mac:
To review what release you have, press the F2 button if you're opening the QBDT program right now.
Once done, follow these steps to download the Critical Fixes and ensure the Reset Update box is checked to get the updates.
After this process, ensure to hit Yes when receiving a prompt to install the latest updates. In addition, make sure to remap the accounts and omit all mapping under the MISC tab. Doing this will cause you to remap NEC and MISC accounts again and be able to print the 3 to a page 1099-NEC form.

I am using Enterprise 2020 - I went online and got the latest release and installed it . After pressing F2 it indicates that I am running R13_28. You noted that I should have R13_39 or later. Please confirm that that is correct and if so where can I get R13_39 for Version 20 Enterprise.

I've went through all the steps suggested below and reran all the updates with Reset Update checked and still getting two part 1099-NEC on Quickbook Premier Nonprofit Edition 2019. Any other suggestions?
