Thanks for stopping by the QuickBooks Community with your question about Desktop annual renewal. QuickBooks Desktop will renew automatically for Desktop Basic, Standard and Enhanced accounts. You will receive a subscription alert in your payment center. Upon renewal, the credit card or bank account on file is debited and an invoice notification is emailed to the billing contact. If the automatic renewal isn't successful, or the credit card or bank account on file is outdated, you may get subscription alerts in QuickBooks. If this happens, you'll receive an alert. To view those alerts click the following link and it will guide you in the correct direction to go.
If there's anything else I can help you with in the meantime, I'm just a few clicks away.
Thank you and have a nice evening.
In QuickBooks Desktop versions, they offer:
Only with an annual subscription plan, you will need to renew the subscription and pay the fee.
With a one-time payment, your purchase this software program. It's yours, good for at least three-year.
I hope this helps!
You may purchase QB Pro or Premier edition with a one time license. e.g QB 2020 Pro 1 user with a one time license, you may purchase it for $300 directly, or $200 thru a partner/reseller.

I'd be glad to help with your question about renewing subscriptions, Shelley2108.
QuickBooks Plus Annual Subscription and QuickBooks Payroll Annual Subscription for One Employee are two different subscriptions.
The QuickBooks Plus Annual Subscription takes care of the entire software, automatic backup, and data recovery. The QuickBooks Payroll Annual Subscription for One Employee on the other hand gives you access to the payroll function in QuickBooks. it's an add-on subscription that includes tax table updates, automatic tax calculations, tax forms, and Direct Deposit.
You might have both subscriptions in your account, which is why you receive a notice for both licenses.
You can log in to the Customer Account Management Portal Site to see all your subscription details. You can also see how much is the renewal fee for each license. Here's how:

our non profit cant afford to renew, we want to continue with the version we have. We are completely locked out of our information. What do we do to get back in?
My non profit cant afford the renewal, we want to stick with the version we have but we are locked out. I have a meeting tomorrow night and I can't prepare the financials for the meeting.
Which QB Desktop year version did you use?
Thanks for joining this thread, @Hethmitch0208. I’ll make sure you're able to get your account unlocked.
Have you been locked out of your account after failed login attempts? If so, resolving the issue is quick and easy.

I have my password, I just can't get past the 'you need to update your software' screen.
We are a non profit and can't afford annual upgrades. the 2022 version was good enough.
We purchased quickbooks desktop pro in 2019 and in 2020, In 2021 they insisted I switch to the subscription plan but I didn't want to and I told them I didn't want to because I knew we wouldn't be able to upgrade this year.
I can think of two reasons why you're getting that prompt on your QuickBooks Desktop screen, @Hethmitch0208. Let me share with you some ideas on how you can get back to business quickly.
It's likely that your subscription has already expired or that your billing information hasn't been updated, which is why the system is asking you to update your software.
To renew, you'll need to either change your payment information or resubscribe to your plan. If not, you can export your company files using a trial edition of QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how to export:

So you were using QBD 2022, correct?
QuickBooks desktop 2022
I already did all that last month because I had a feeling that it was not going to continue to allow me to use my current version and it was going to lock me out of everything. I feel this is very bad thing to do. Not everybody can afford subscription-based programs every year. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using an old version until you are ready to upgrade.
I just bought a disc for Quick books Desktop Pro 2021 last year (1 PC) and I've been keep getting pop-up screen stating that I need to renew my subscription otherwise I will not be able to access to my account in 6 days. I spent a lot of money last year to purchase the QuickBooks for my small company, which I thought was one time license. Now they are asking me to pay almost $600 to renew my subscription. Does it make any sense?
Login to your CAMPS to confirm. If you bought QB Desktop 2021 Pro Plus, you will need pay the renewal. You don't need to renew if you bought QB Desktop 2021 Pro.
I appreciate you chiming in the thread, @Mer118. I'd be glad to share some details about the renewal pop-ups in your company file.
Based on the details you provided it seems that the pop-up renewal is for QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus Annual Subscription. Also if it's QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 is still supported.
You can log in to the Customer Account Management Portal Site to see all your subscription details. You can also see how much is the renewal fee for each license.

I bought QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2021 and they asked me to renew for $544.49/year. I don’t think it’s worth it for a small company that I own to purchase. So does that mean I will lose all of the datas that I’ve been saving this entire time if I decided not to renew my subscription? Is there any way I can still use QuickBooks without renewing my subscription considered I have spend over $300 last year?
I purchased QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2021 last year and they asked me to subscribe for $544.49/yr. Does that mean I will lose all of the data that I have entered and saved all of this time? I only own a small company and there is no way my company can afford that subscription every year. I thought when spending over $300 on Desktop Pro Plus for company last year, that will last me for a while.. never thought that will only last me one year.
You can save your data file as archive and consider your options. You can purchase a one-time license for QB Desktop 2021, pay the renewal, switch to QB Online, or switch to another application.
Hi there, Mer118.
Allow me to step in and share additional information about QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) service discontinuation policy.
Once your subscription period ends, you will no longer be able to use or access your QuickBooks Desktop account. Your company file will remain on your computer, but you'll need to re-activate the service to open or view the data.
Also, I agree with Fiat-Lux Asia, you can purchase a single QuickBooks Pro license. This is locally installed and supports a single user.
You'll want to create a backup company file so you can restore it whenever you need access to your data. Then, use the trial version.
I'm also adding these articles that tackle discontinuation and cancelation policies:

Please touch base with us if you have any questions about your subscription. We'll be here to help you.
Nick,
I have 2022 QB desktop and do not wish to renew for updates bc I don't use them. I just want to keep what I bought. How do I do that?
Joyce Kitchens
Secure the backup file and use the trial version to restore it later if required.
