Error when creating customer statements

Next step for the Moderator is to talk to Tech Support software, and ask their programmers if this can be done, and how long it will take to get this into production, instead of just posting the same answer about selecting individual customers. If your programmers can't make this happen, then we will all know the answer, that we will need to move on from Quickbooks, as your software team is incapable of handling a simple programming feature that all other software companies can do. Get us some feedback from your supervisors in the development team so we know what are next steps should be. Is this inadequate software going to be updated to fix this problem.

Error when creating customer statements

We just encountered this error after upgrading from 2021 to 2023 since support for 2021 was ending. We are working around it by selecting statements by customer type, rather that all customers. At the moment, we do not have more than 4500 customers in any given customer type but this is only a band-aid.

Please email [email address removed] about this issue.  Obviously, no one that monitors this site has the ability to get this problem resolved.  Maybe if enough of us email this address someone with a little authority can get some results.

Wow!  They won't allow me to post the email address.  I've reached out to an email address that hopefully will have an impact.  I'll keep you all posted.  Not getting my hopes up!

Error when creating customer statements

I have been seeing more emails lately regarding this unusual "statement" issue.  It has been a problem since the beginning.  I also had major issues updating the QBPOS to QBD23.  I finally got in touch with the Office of the President, and I did get results but not on this specific problem.  I haven't had time to focus on, but I will now.

I have thoughts that maybe they are not putting attention to it because they are going to make the desktop go away altogether within 5 years anyway.  I did not hear that officially, but it is a hunch.

I used to have so much respect and high regards for QuickBooks.  They have completely diminished my thinking on their product.

Oh I hope they don't get rid of desktop!  I tried the online version about 5 years ago for another smaller organization and was expecting to like it better and did not like it at all.  Sigh.  Well, thank you for trying on this!  Much appreciated!

Well, this thread can be closed.  They have no intention of fixing!

I received the following from Tech Support as I tried to pursue this issue further:

I've shared your feedback and the link from our community site with our Office of the President team as well as sharing product feedback through the help drop down in my program.  I've also shared this feedback with contacts I work with that partner with our engineers.  Unfortunately, at this time there is no plan to increase this limit.  Our engineers have taken this feedback seriously.  They are focused on ensuring the program doesn't crash when creating statements and decided that going above 4,500 customers could cause the program to crash.

I know this limitation impacts your workflow of generating statements and I'm sorry that there is no plan to change the limitation in the near future.

You can close the thread if you want to, however I did get in contact with a higher representative that is going to talk to her Supervisors and Engineers.  They might have known at the top what was going on, or the people that have received the complaints on the lower tier level were not forwarding it to their supervisors.  The last time I reached out to this particular office I did get results.  They actually rewrote the POS system so I could import the inventory into QBD23.  At the time of the conversion, they were written on two different platforms.  That didn't make sense to me since it was the same company. The problem was resolved.

They couldn't promise me that it would be fixed but they did say they would look into it and get back to me.  At that time, I brought up the questions regarding them discontinuing the QBD within a 5-year period.  They said they have not heard anything like that as of yet.  Time will tell.  I do have confidence that I will get an answer one way or the other even if it is not what we are looking for.

This is bull. If I had known this I wouldn't have bought Enterprise 24. I've done all the steps, multiple times, and the problem is your programming. Why can't someone put it back the way it was in the older versions? If anyone has another system they've tried that makes statements easy, like they used to be, please let me know. This is frustrating. I've got about 7000 customers and only need 100-200 statements a month. Why doesn't the "don't print" options work anymore?

It has been three weeks now since I did here from the Office of the President.  Did not hear back however this morning was a critical update 5/3/2024.  Hopefully it was fixed.

Wow. Completely losing any semblance of trust in Intuit at this point. Has this really been ongoing for 2 years?

Almost everyone is saying, hey the 4,500 selected customer limit is probably okay, just fix the filters so it reduces the selected customer count based on the balance, inactive, and other filters to the right.

We can understand the intent of implementing the limit to prevent problems, but Intuit has BROKEN their statement functionality for many of their Enterprise customers. I would wager this flawed implementation has caused WAY more collateral damage than it has prevented.

Intuit needs to do one of the following:

  • Fix the filtering to happen before customer selection limit check
  • Give customers the option to accept the risk and disable
  • Remove the limit
  • Lose a lot of Enterprise customers

We updated last night. We still have the problem. Statement printing is blocked by the 4,500 max customer selection limit regardless of the filters set to the right (inactive, balance, etc).

We are on Enterprise 24 release R6P (64bit)
