Currently, I understand and apologize that there are no updates available for QuickBooks Desktop for the Mac version yet.

 

And for the QuickBooks Desktop version, you need to ensure you get the latest payroll information. Make sure you have an up-to-date QuickBooks Desktop release and payroll tax table

All updated and still not able to print 3-Part forms ordered from Intuit Quickbooks. Is a fix forthcoming?

I was using QuickBooks Desktop 2020 (Windows version)-not Mac.  I did all the updates, which showed that I was totally up to date.  I still couldn't print out the one 1099-NEC that I needed to print.  I could print the 1096 transmittal with no problem.  I decided to skirt the problem after having wasted so much time by making a dummy client in the Desktop 2021 version with the information needed for the 1099.  But thanks to all for the suggested help.

The problem is QBDT is not cable of printing 3 tops 1099 NEC forms. We can't find 2 part tops 1099-NEC forms in market. How came QBDT is not be able to find a solution for this matter? Quickbook itself sales on 3 part tops for a lot money but it's comparable to QBDT.

I want to make sure you can print the 3 part 1099-NEC, @Daily1, @cloud2, and @Habtamu.

 

Updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release with the appropriate Ultra-Light Patches (ULIPs) applied, you should be able to print the 3 part 1099-NEC. Since the option isn't still available on your end, let's verify what release of your QuickBooks. To do this, you can click F2 on your keyboard. Below are the releases required to print 3part 1099 NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows:

 

  • QuickBooks 2022/Enterprise 22 - R3_71 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2021/Enterprise 21 - R8_62 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2020/Enterprise 20 - RR13_39 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2019/Enterprise 19 - R16_55 (or later)

 

Once you have the latest release, go ahead and print your 1099-NEC forms.

I have Quickbooks Desktop Mac 2020 Version V19.0.10 R11.  It looks like your solution is available for the Windows version only.

I see you are saying you have to update the payroll tax tables to get the 1099s to print properly on three part but what if the QB file is not using payroll and only needs to print the 1099s. All updates have been performed and still only printing 2 up.

Currently, our engineers are still working to have QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020 updated. Once everything's good, be certain that you can print 1099-NEC three tax forms per page. Just always make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is updated.

 

For QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, please check the following versions required to print 1099-NEC:

  • QuickBooks 2022/Enterprise 22 - R3_71 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2021/Enterprise 21 - R8_62 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2020/Enterprise 20 - RR13_39 (or later)
  • QuickBooks 2019/Enterprise 19 - R16_55 (or later)

I have struggled with this problem and have tried all the posted solutions with no success.  I have QB 2022 desktop.  I finally resolved to uninstall and reinstall the software.  During this process I was given the option to fix the software.  I chose this option.  After completing this I am now able to print 3 part 1099s.  Maybe this will help.

Thank you but when I run the updates for 2021 it shows it is R8_51 and for 2019 shows R16_34. I have done download updates twice today on each of these versions and that's what it has updated to.

  1. Click on Help.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Choose Contact us.
  4. In the description field, enter something like 1099 NEC concern and hit Continue.
  5. Click Message an agent.

I am in QB desktop 2022 v R3_78 and the NEC's are now not printing at all.  I spent 2 hrs with a rep yesterday afternoon and have another appt scheduled with him tomorrow to try and resolve.  The agent was very knowledgable and even tried some .NET updates for Windows and ran the tool hub several times - stil a no go.

 

All other forms print including the 1096 for the NEC's but the 3 up has a quick flash of an error box that blips but not able to read but does not print or send anything to a queue to print and also won't open a pdf since I did the last update. 

 

Are we still waiting for a fix or should I try and pursue another fix today?

I did all the recommended fixes with QB support, and I still can't print the 3 part 1099-NEC forms, but my QB is the 2022 version. QB support is telling me they will have a fix out before the 1/31/22 deadline.

I'll be sharing details on how printing the 1099 form works in QuickBooks. Then, ensure to provide another solution so you'll be able to achieve your goal of printing 1099 NEC.

 

Preprinted copies or three up 1099-NEC forms are available in QuickBooks Desktop and are compatible with QuickBooks 2019 or later versions, including the Mac version. However, 1099 for three per page isn't possible in QuickBooks 2018. You can get more information about QuickBooks Pre-Printed 1099 Kits by clicking on this link: QuickBooks Pre-Printed 1099 Kits

 

Additionally, services for older versions of QuickBooks Desktop are discontinued. You can no longer use the 2018 version to utilize payroll services like paying taxes are unavailable. To know more about it, I recommend checking out this link: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information. I suggest updating your QuickBooks 2018 to the latest version. This is to keep your software up-to-date so you'll be able to file taxes without any issues. All you need to do is check what operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run the latest version.

 

On the other hand, sometimes QuickBooks Desktop acts unusual behavior that might cause unable to print the 3 part 1099-NEC forms or unexpected error. I suggest downloading and installing the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This helps fix common errors and you'll need to close QuickBooks to use the tool hub. You'll have to use Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit for the best experience.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Then, save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and approve the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install completes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

 

If you're unable to find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program. Once done, run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool in the Tool Hub. Please follow the steps below.

 

  1. From the QuickBooks Tool Hub, choose Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.
  3. Attempt to print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

 

If the issue persists, I reccomend opening this article to see the additional steps to fix the issue and start the following Solution 2: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Lastly, the Form 1099-NEC due date is February 1, 2022. Make sure to submit the form before due dates to avoid getting penalties. For more details, you can check this article: Tax year due dates

Thank you for your information - I am in QuickBooks 2022 Accountant version and spent 2 1/2 hours yesterday on the phone with support with no answers.  We did the tool hub for all areas including the printing but that did not fix the situation.

I have another appointment for tomorrow to try and fix it.  As for right now I am typing them by hand.  Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@Lrentz FYI, QB 2018 is no longer supported by Intuit and will not be updated with the new 1099-NEC format.

@dblaes - I was replying to Lrentz since the Employee did not respond to him/her that 2018 is no longer supported. For your issue with 2022, I have had success installing on a different computer, like a laptop. Good luck.

Hi, thank you for your reply. How can I run the critical fixes again? Our computers are locked down. I had automatic update on. I think it may have installed, but didn't take. I have to "unfreeze" the computer and re-run the critical fixes. Can you tell me how to re-run the critical fix? It shows nothing new to install.

Thank you, Can you tell me how to re-install the critical fixes? Our computers are locked down, I had the Quickbooks update on automatic. The fix probably ran, but did not take. I will have to "unfreeze" the computer first then re-run the fix. Please help.

I'm using QB 2022, was walked through all the repairs you listed, by QB support, and nothing was resolved. They have told me that QB is aware of the issue and is working on a fix, that should be out before 1/31/2022. I'm not sure what else I can do to fix this?
