Hi there, jchoe-johnchoe-n.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, jchoe-johnchoe-n. I'll share details about producing paystubs for contractors in QuickBooks Online.
Currently, generating or creating pay stubs for your contractor isn't an option. You can create a check and print it for recording purposes.
Here's how:
For additional information, you can refer to this article: Pay a contractor with a paper check.
Please refer to this article to see steps on how you can request a direct deposit reversal to returns funds to your account: Reverse a direct deposit.
Get back to me with additional questions while working with contractors or anything about QuickBooks. I'd be more than happy to help. Have a good one.
When I make out checks to them, it does not include the information that typical paystubs have like our business name address, and pay period.
I'm looking for a paystub, not a check, for my contractors. How can I do that?
Hi there, jchoe-johnchoe-n.
While we're unable to print pay stubs for your contractor's check, you can purchase pre-printed ones that you can customize and add business details to it. For more details, you can click this link: https://intuitmarket.intuit.com/checks. You can follow these steps in setting up your printer settings if you already have your pre-printed checks.
Another way of paying your contractors is through Direct Deposit for a paperless transaction.
Let me know if you have other questions. Take care!
I hoped to generate paystubs for my contractors whom I paid through direct deposit. It appears that this feature is not supported at this time.
I know it's important to some businesses to generate paystubs to their contractors, Jchoe-johnchoe-n.
We are taking notes of our customers' insights and ideas. I suggest sending feedback directly to our software engineers. Let me walk you through:
The more request it has, the more likely it'll be added in future updates.
You can also visit our QuickBooks Blog to check for the current updates of our program.
Let us know if you have other concerns. We're right here to help you. Take care!
I'm looking to do this as well. Important they have pay stubs so they can apply to rent an apartment etc.
We are also needing to be able to print paystubs for our contractors that we pay via DD. Most places will not accept a screenshot of the payments when applying for things such as apartments and car/home loans. Do you have any idea when this feature might be available?
Hi agrealish!
I understand that you need to print contractor paystubs. I'm here so I can help you with it.
Currently, we can't tell when a requested feature will be added to QuickBooks Online. However, the more feedback our engineers received, most likely it'll be prioritized.
For now, what I can suggest is to visit the Apps menu. From there, you can search for a third-party application that you can integrate into QuickBooks Online that can generate a paystub for contractors.
Lastly, I added this link if you need help in running the expense report by vendor: How to run and save a monthly expense report by vendor.
Post again here if you need more help with direct deposit. Take care!
Did anyone figure out how to do this? my contractor is hoping to apply for an apartment and I'm not sure how to go about this.
Hello there, @cameranthelady.
As of the moment, generating or creating pay stubs for your contractor isn't an option. You can create a check and print it for recording purposes.
Here's how:
1. Go to the Payroll menu on the left panel.
2. Select the Contractors tab.
3. Choose the dropdown next to the contractor's name and click Write check.
4. Select the expense account you use to track paychecks from the Corresponding account in QuickBooks field.
5. When you're ready to prepare the check, hit Save and Close to send the check to your print queue. Or if you want to print the check now, select Print Check.
To pay contractors by direct deposit, see this article as a future reference: Set up and manage direct deposit for your contractors.
Don't hesitate to comment below if you have additional questions while working with contractors or anything about QuickBooks. I'd be more than happy to help.
i need to be able to generate pay stubs for contractors too. I cannot believe this isn't an option. very disappointed.
Is there an update on this issue? I also have contractors that need a pay stub for verification of employment. Quickbooks please fix this!
Hi SHIREY2390,
Thank you for also sharing your interest in providing paystubs to contractors. While this is still not a feature in QBO, I encourage you to submit feedback (Gear > Feedback), so our engineers will know that you need it, too. In the meantime, you can consider the suggestions of my colleagues in the previous replies.
On the other hand, if you want to see more references for QBO, you can visit the main support page, scroll down a bit, and click More topics.
Let me know if you have any other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one.
This thread was created over a year ago. Why is there still no update on such an important feature? A year's worth of feedback and requests for the same feature and still nothing? Why aren't you guys responding to the QB clients? The # of replies here is not a clear representation of the number of QB clients actually in need of this. I felt obligated to say "do something about this"! It's kind of crazy theres still NOTHING. And please do not refer me to feedback to send the same request already sent over the past 18 months. Just do something about it already.
Would love to hear from Quickbooks on their developments of this issue. I recently switched BACK to Quickbooks to pay my contractors and mentioned the need to print/send pay stubs frequently on the phone with tech support, meanwhile it wasn't mentioned once that this wasn't an available feature. Is this an issue that's even on Quickbooks radar? I rejoined QB expecting the capability to generate paystubs, I'm at a loss as to why this issue isn't a priority.
Thank you for joining the conversation, toddelkins88.
I understand that this would be useful and convenient for you. However, we haven't got any news about having the ability to print paystubs for contractors as of the moment. You can consider looking for a third-party app that can generate paystubs in QBO.
I'm just around if you need further assistance.
But you have this as an option for employees? I don't understand what the difference is between paying an employee versus paying a contractor other than taxes. I'm paying for a payroll service, a pay stub should be included in the package, ESPECIALLY if it's included in a similar one. I was told this was a feature multiple times while on the phone with customer service. Now, you're telling me it's not? Can you offer me ANYTHING else other than more ways to spend more money with other companies? I'm already regretting switching back to Quickbooks. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. Immediate REGRET. Every paycheck should be accompanied with a pay stub, that's a no-brainer.
I'm being forced into paying and searching for third-party applications that provide paystubs, since Quickbooks fails every company who employs contractors. I'm really not looking to sift through your 50 third-party app(partners) to find this one mini feature I'm looking for. What is the application for pay-stubs? Ffs, I thought I found the solution I was looking for to find out today on a forum that yall are still trash.
Any update on this? It's mid 2023 and nothing?
Thanks for joining the thread.
I can see the need for generating paystubs for your contractors inside QBO. Upon checking here on my here, the feature you're trying to access is unavailable inside the program.
To help you get through this, I'd recommend resending feedback to our Product Development Team. This way, once they see your recommendation, they'll consider adding it to the next program update. I'll gladly input the steps below so you can proceed. To begin, these are the steps:
Moreover, here's an article to help you ensure your data stays accurate inside QBO: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
As always, the Community space is open 24/7 if you need assistance performing specific tasks or accomplishing goals inside QuickBooks. Feel free to post here again. We got you covered. Stay safe, and have a good one!
So it appears that some nonsensical tweaks were performed on the QB Online ie you now have to select edit to add to your invoice instead of just clicking on the invoice number. BUT we still don't have the ability to send paystubs for DD Contractors?????
Any update on this issue? QB should address this!!! There are better platforms out there now with better and more accommodating features it is 2023!!!
Hi there,
We recognize the importance of this feature in generating contractor paystubs for your company.
As of now, there is no option in QuickBooks Online to create paystubs for contractors. But we'd still love to hear your opinion. I recommend sending feedback to our Product Development team using the steps outlined by my colleague
@Kurt_M above.
While we can't say when this feature will be available, you can look for a third-party application that can be integrated into QuickBooks Online and allows you to create contractor paystubs. To find one, go to the Apps menu or use this link: Apps help QuickBooks run better.
Feel free to come back to this thread if you still need help or have other contractor-related concerns. I'll be happy to help.
Not trying to be mean but don't lie to us, Archie.
If this importance of this feature was recognized, it wouldn't have sat as an unsolved thread for 2 years. From a coding perspective, it isn't that hard to pull all the payments made from a certain period and throw it together into a single doc. Much like how the invoices pull in your business info, client info, etc.
So just tell it like it is. Tell us that there's no plans for this feature in the near future. Stop leading us on to wait indefinitely for something you never intend to do. That's BS.
