How do you turn off print later on checks for all ? how do you set so it will keep check number in order ? tks

Hi there, @ibemomofthree-gm.

Allow me to share some information about printing checks in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Currently, the option to turn off the Print later button is unavailable.

However, there are two ways to ensure that your created checks are in order.

First is to manually enter the check number without checking the Print later option. Note that you have to print them one by one.

Next is to mark the Print later option then when you'll need to print them make sure to enter the Starting check no. so the number will be assigned and increment to each checks.

Also, I've added an article that will help guide you to align checks when printing.

Please know that you can always post here if you have QuickBooks concerns. I'll be around to help. Take care always.

Print Later continually puts a check mark in the Print Later box...cannot keep it unchecked.  Is there something in Settings that would accomplish this?

Thanks for reaching the Community space, @ITPL.

There are times that the browser stores frequently-accessed data, thus causing websites, like QBO, to act weirdly.

To better isolate this one, let's try signing in to your account using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues.

Just follow the keyboard shortcuts below to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to unchecked the print later box, please switch back to your regular browser and clear cache. Just in case the problem persists, you can also try switching to a different supported browser.

Also, there's isn't a button in the settings that can unchecked the print later box, you'll have to manually unchecked it.

You can also edit the check created and unchecked the Print later box. Just go to the Expenses menu and edit the check from there.

Please let me know in the comment section if you have any follow-up questions with the print later button or concerns in QuickBooks. I'm always here to answer them. Take care and enjoy the rest of the day!

I've got the steps for QuickBooks Desktop, Trgreg13.

Let me guide you how:

  1. From the Banking menu, select Write Checks.
  2. Tick the Print Later field.
  3. Enter the details.
  4. Click Save & Close.

Afterward, the system will save this option moving forward.

If you want to modify the checks, you can check this guide: Create, modify, and print checks.

Leave a Reply if there's anything that I can help. I'll be happy to help you out!

I'd like to share what I know about printing checks in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The availability of some features in QBO depends on the user type and your access limit. I recommend asking your admin what user type you are.

If you are a standard user, check the screenshot below to know what you can and can't access:

If your access should have the option to print checks, you may be experiencing some browser issues. We'll perform some basic troubleshooting to fix it. Let's start with logging into your account through a private browser. It's the best spot to isolate web issues.

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you can create a budget successfully using the private browsing session, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the program. We advise our users to delete them now and then to prevent and fix issues like this.

Here's an article about verifying that an invoice was emailed and read by the recipient for additional reference.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with printing checks. Thanks and have a great day!

I am having this issue as well.  Mine is random though.  I will print a check, click that it printed properly, and go on to the next bill.  When I go to print that check, the check that I had just printed is there waiting to be printed (even though it was already done) as if I hadn't just done it, and "print later" is checked when I go to the account and look at the payment.  I hope that made sense...

Thanks for joining the thread,@dellanos1. I'm here to lend a hand with your issue about printing checks in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To get rid of this problem, let's perform a few browser troubleshooting solutions to isolate the issue when you can't print some checks in QBO.

I suggest performing the steps through a private/incognito window. The private window will not save any history, making it a good place to identify browser problems. To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you're able to print your checks using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

Additionally, I'm including these articles for additional references in recording and printing your checks:

You can also refer to this article if you need help with common printing issues when using QuickBooks Online in a browser for Windows.

Please know that you're always welcome to post in the Community if you have any other printing concerns in QBO. Wishing you and your business continued success. Take care!

Thank you for the Additional Information, @dellanos1. Let me help you proceed to fix your issue about printing checks in QuickBooks Desktop (DBDT).

Because every printer is different, many of the troubleshooting techniques below assume you're familiar with your printer's configuration. If you're not sure how to apply these suggestions, talk to your IT department or the printer manufacturer's tech assistance.

There are a few things to consider before you begin troubleshooting. The following is an overview.

  • Ensure QuickBooks is updated to the latest release.
  • Your computer is connected to the printer and that the printer software is installed.
  • For specific printing error messages, you may search the QuickBooks Support site for the exact error.

First thing that you have to do is to check your printer. Use Notepad to see if your printer can print outside of QuickBooks.

  1. Select Start and browse to Notepad.
  2. Enter some text and choose File, then Print.
  3. Select the correct printer and then select Print.

Second, if that print test didn’t work, follow these steps. If it did work, go directly to step 3.

  1. Turn off the printer, restart your computer and then turn the printer back on.
  2. Make sure the printer paper is loaded correctly.
  3. Select the Window Start button, browse to the Control Panel and then double-click Printers and Faxes.
  4. If the printer shows offline, right-click the printer and then select Use Printer Online.
  5. Double-click the printer and if there are printer jobs displayed in the queue, choose Printer, then Cancel All Documents.
  6. Close the window and then Right-click the printer, choose the Properties and then select Print Test Page.

You might want to give this article a visit. This contains more option for resolving printing issues.

To wrap up, I'm including these articles for additional references in fixing the print alignment and modifying checks.

Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment down below. I'll be waiting for your response. Keep safe and have a good one.

Thanks for joining this conversation, @queenie6340. You can view your print queue in the Expenses menu. Here's how:

In the Expenses menu, select the expenses tab then filter by Print later. See this screenshot below:

Additionally, you can find your for Print Check later checks in the printer's queue.

Here's how:

  1. Select + New, then select Print checks.
  2. Load your checks into the printer, then eelect the checking account that you created the check from the dropdown.
  3. Enter all the necessary details of the checks in the field, then select the checkbox next to each check you want to print.
  4. Select Preview and print then check if correct, select Print.
  5. If your checks print correctly, select Done.

Here's an article for your future reference about printing sales forms and checks in QuickBooks.

Get back to me here of you additional concerns in printing your checks, I'll be there to help again.
