I don't know my administrator password

Some of my files were corrupted when I upgraded to Quickbooks 2016 for Mac. Data Services fixed the files but added an administrator password before accessing the files. The password that they provided worked last month, but now I cannot login.

To remove a Mac password in 2016 version or earlier you have to send the file to support. However... there's no reason the administrator password would stop working. Make sure you are opening the correct company file.  If you've saved the admin password to your Mac keychain you can find it with Apple's Keychain Access tool - use Spotlight to open that.  Once keychain access is open type QuickBooks User in the search field and it should show you any saved password entries. Double click on those, enter your Mac account log in password, and you should see your admin password(s).

Good day, @puzzle09!

You can find your license number directly from your account management portal. I'm here to help you accomplish this.

  1. Go to the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) page.
  2. Enter your login credentials.
  3. Click Sign in.
  4. Select QuickBooks Desktop product.
  5. Click Detail.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can use this portal: What is CAMPs and How Do I Use It?

Once you have your license number, you can now use the Automated Password Reset tool to reset your company file's password.

Know that you can always visit our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Desktop in case you need some tips and related articles for your future tasks.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section down below. I'll be always around ready to help.
