How do you update your EFTPS password in quickbooks

Hi there, @Mary G1.

Let me step in and assist you in updating your EFTPS password.

If you're using E-Pay in your QuickBooks Desktop, you'll have to change your QuickBooks Desktop password to match your new EFTPS Internet password the next time you make an E-Payment.

Before updating your EFTPS Internet password, you'll have to update your QuickBooks to the latest version and download the latest tax table updates. Keeping your QuickBooks updated prevents unexpected issues within the program.

Please follow these steps to update your EFTPS password.

  1. Go to the Payroll Center, then select Pay Liabilities.
  2. Choose the federal liability to e-pay in the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, then click View/Pay.
  3. Verify the E-Payment is selected, and select E-pay.
  4. Remove the checkmark in the Remember My Information for the next time box.
  5. Enter the 4-Digit PIN and new EFTPS Internet Password.
  6. Fill out all the information needed in the fields.
  7. Click the Submit button.

Re-enter your 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password in the next time you make e-payment. Then, select the Remember My Information for the next time box.

I've also added an article to help you learn more about E-Pay tax liability payments.

Please know that I'm always around here in the Community to help. Keep safe, and have a great day.

We can void the rejected e-payment so we can resubmit it, Mike.

Let me guide you with these steps:

  1. From the Employees tab, select Payroll Center.
  2. Select the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. In the Payment History section, select the E-Payments tab.
  4. Click on the Agency Rejected link.
  5. Hit Void Rejected E-payment.

Afterward, you're good to resubmit the 941 e-payment.

Once done, you can check the status. Here's an article as your guide on how to do it: Check E-File or E-Pay Status.

There you have it, Mike. Feel free to mention my name if you need help. Take care!

How do you update your EFTPS password in quickbooks

I just updated my EFTPS password and while I was connected to EFTPS I paid the tax liability that had been rejected through Quickbooks.

With that in mind, is there another way for Quickbooks to be updated to show that I have, in fact, paid the tax liability without rejection?

Let's record the payment you've made manually, @MCLancaster.

You can record the tax payment you've made outside QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) using the Enter prior payments feature. This option can be also used for historical tax payments for the current or previous years.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top to get to the About QuickBooks.
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Y or Ctrl + Shift + Y keys to open the Setup YTD Amounts window.
  3. Click Next until the Enter prior payments section.
  4. Select Create Payment to record the payment in the Enter Prior Payments window.
  5. Enter the Payment and For Period Ending dates, then choose the payroll tax item that you've already paid in the Taxes and Liabilities field.
  6. Click on Next Payment or Finish to complete.

Check this article for more information: Enter historical tax payments in Desktop payroll.

Please let me know in the comment if you have any other issues or concerns in recording your payroll liabilities. I'm more than happy to help. Have a great rest of the day!

How do you update your EFTPS password in quickbooks

I got one of those letters in the mail from the IRS telling me I have not been making my 941 tax payments.  Not true.   Sure enough I go to the epayments tab and for two months FED has been rejected.  Nothing has changed.  I went to EFTPS and logged in with my pin and password - no problem.  I followed your instructions below - twice and twice was rejected again.  NO ONE helps at Intuit.  What do I do?

Hello, Brewster.

I can see the reason you'd got a letter from IRS because your e payment didn't go through, Brewster. Since you've verified that you're able to log in with no problem, however, your payment status is still rejected.

I recommend reaching out to our Desktop Payroll support team so they can pull up your account and review it and further investigate the underlying issue.

Here's how:

  1. Tap Help inside QuickBooks.
  2. Go to QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. In the Have a Question? window, click Contact us.
  4. Enter a brief description of your issue, then press Continue.
  5. Choose Get a callback to schedule a callback from our support agent.

To make sure you get prioritized on your concern. Please check out our support hours and contact us at a time convenient: Support hours and types

Also, you can read this article for a reference on what to do when your e-filing or e-payment is rejected: Troubleshoot efile or epay rejection issues

Feel free to get back to me if you have any questions about this or need further assistance with anything in QuickBooks. I'll be right here to assist you anytime. Have a nice day!

I am so mad.  I pay a lot of money to this software.  I have been in business for 47 years and this password problem has happened twice now costing me hundreds of dollars in penalties.  My 940 and 941 payments have been being rejected because Quickbooks lost my PIN it did not change.  I had a problem with my Indiana Unemployment account and worked for hours with someone who had access to my desktop at Quickbooks right when this password was lost.

I think at a bare minimum your soft ware needs to send us a big bright red warning in bold print when our tax filings are rejected.  Running across this information months later by accident or getting a collection notice from the EFTPS system for penalties and interest is so angering!!!!  How would you like to thousands of dollars for a software program, have it loose you password that has not changed and then have to pay hundreds more in penalties.  I will definitely never recommend any business go with Quickbooks, there has to be something better or at least as good and less expensive.  I'm glad I will be retiring in a few more years.  I can't take much more of this.  And that there is no one to work through this with me.... what am I paying for?

It's not the kind of service we want you to experience, JeanneSmith

We always aim to help our customers and provide the best service. I know having an alert is a good feature to let you know about any tax filing rejections. I like that idea. I suggest sending it directly to our software engineers. They're taking notes of our users' insights and feedback. Let me guide you:

  1. Click Help inside QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Send Feedback Online.
  3. Select Product Suggestion.

If there's anything else that you need, don't hesitate to let us know. We'll be right here to help you. Take care!

Let's make sure you'll be able to E-pay your payroll tax, max129-ss.

Once you set up your federal e-file and e-pay, you'll have to get PINs for each. The e-file PIN is a 10-digit number while your e-pay PIN is a 4-digit number.  If you don't have one, you'll want to contact the IRS. Then, uncheck the Remember my information for next time box, and make sure to update your PIN. Select the Remember my information for next time box again to save the new information. I've attached a screenshot for your guide:

For more information on how to handle payroll e-file and e-pay rejections, read this article: Handle Payroll E-file and E-Pay Rejections. Moreover, you can go to the E-Payments tab so you can check the status of the e-payed federal tax. You can check out this article for the complete information: Check e-pay status. This contains instructions on how to check an e-file status.

Let us know if you have any concerns about e-filing your payroll tax. We're here to help you all the time.

How do you update your EFTPS password in quickbooks

Welcome to the Community, BG110.

You can update your Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) internet password on the official EFTPS website. You won't need to purchase a new version of QuickBooks to accomplish this process. 2021 still functions with electronic tax payments.

After you've updated your EFTPS password, you'll want to be sure to change it in QuickBooks before making e-payments.

Here's how:

  1. Update your books to the latest release and download our latest tax table.
  2. Access your Payroll Center, then open the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. In your Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, choose a federal liability to e-pay.
  4. Click View/Pay.
  5. Verify that E-payment is selected and hit E-pay.
  6. Untick the Remember My Information for next Time checkbox.
  7. Enter your 4-Digit PIN and new EFTPS Internet password.
  8. Specify any missing information.
  9. Select Submit.

Next time you make an e-payment, re-enter the 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password, then turn on your Remember My Information for next Time option.

You'll also be able to find many detailed resources about using QuickBooks in our help article archives.

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a fantastic day!
