Quickbooks Workforce inaccurately calculated YTD Net Pay. We are seeing multiple errors in the way it treats payroll items that it identifies as "Deductions" . Can someone please FIX THE ALGORITHMS? See image attached. I picked the 1st payroll of 2022 to make it very clear. Look at how it inaccurately puts the Owner Draws under "Deductions" and then treats it as an addition for the current period, but as a deduction for the YTD calculation. Very disconcerting honestly since "Owner Draw" is an addition to pay and NOT a deduction. This is absolutely ridiculous. And by the way, this is NOT the only example of inaccurately calculated YTD Net Pay. My employees have lost trust in our payroll and their payroll data.
Welcome to the Community, MelTilk.
Let fix your issue with miscalculated Net Pay in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
I advise updating your payroll to the most recent release. This downloads the latest recent tax rates and calculations into your account and is frequently used to resolve payroll concerns: Update payroll to the latest release

Did you even look at the attachment? If you had you would recognize that this is not a quickbooks payroll issue but an issue with workforce, as I outlined in my above question. My QB paystubs are all accurate. But my employees view their paystub’s through workforce and it is within workforce that the net pay calculations are inaccurate on certain paychecks based on the additions or deductions taken that pay period. Please review my attached image. And please do not send me generic (cut and paste articles from your library) as answers to address this. I am a very experienced a quickbooks user.
Hi there, @MelTilk.
I understand that this shouldn't be complicated as the paystubs are all accurate. I may haven't personally experienced what you've gone through, but know that you have the right to be heard and I'm here listening to you. Rest assured that I'll make sure that you and your employee can view the correct net pay.
To help determine the reason behind the miscalculation, I recommend letting the affected workers reach out to our Workforce Team. From there, they’ll review the setup and configure it to make sure they can access QuickBooks Workforce seamlessly. Just provide this link to them to communicate with our live chat support: QuickBooks Workforce.
You can also contact our Payroll Support team when you have subscribed to one of our QuickBooks Payroll software.
Here’s an article you can share with your employees to help them manage this Workforce account: How to change the user id or email address for QuickBooks Workforce.
On top of that, refer to this guide to learn how to print regular paychecks or Advice of Deposit forms: Print your paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop.

Folks - I know you are trying to help, but this is not about me being heard or an issue at the employee level with how to access or set up Workforce. We all already know all of that. This is a systemic issue with the way the payroll data is displayed to employees in Workforce when they click on the "SEE DETAILS" button to view their paystub data online. Please review my attached document outlining the error that is occurring in the way payroll data is displayed in Workforce. I just got off the phone with QB Assisted Payroll to review this and they clearly see the issue. What I need help with is for someone to elevate this to the right tech team. I opened a case with Intuit, but need this info to get over to Workforce.
Here are the issues with Workforce Onscreen Payroll Summary. Note the pdf "downloadable" paystub is correct as is the pay stub in QB desktop.
1) ADDITIONS ARE TREATED AS DEDUCTIONS AND CALCULATION OF YTD NET PAY IS INCORRECT
2) Additions and Deductions from pay are consolidated under “DEDUCTIONS” – this is not only very confusing to employees, but also plainly incorrect. It should at the very least display as "Adjustments"
3) Error in calculations probably due to #2 … Additions are not added to pay, but rather are deducted. WTH?
a) The “Total” under Deductions section is INCORRECT
b) The YTD NET PAY is incorrect
4)The NET PAY for Current period is Correct. Even though Additions are inaccurately lumped under “Deduction” section, the Net Pay for Current period is calculating those additions correctly. But NOT for YTD Net Pay. This indicates that there is a clear systemic issue with either data mapping and/or algorithms.
5)“OTHER PAY” is a misleading term for employees. Those are Non-Taxable Company Contributions and in QB are listed as such. Why do we call those “Other Pay” in Workforce? To an employee, it implies they are receiving pay (technically it is like pay, but that is not how an employee views it because it is not coming to them but rather those are benefits paid by company).
I can see how difficult this has been, @MelTilk. I'm here to ensure you'll get the right support to help resolve this issue.

Divina - Thank you for your assistance. I spent about 1 hour on the chat with Workforce and have made them aware of the issue. They said it was an issue with their website design. Wowza. That's a big one honestly. To me this means it affects anyone using the platform, but only if they have "additions to pay." Few would notice it unless they are looking carefully at their YTD Net Pay calculation, or take owner draws, like me and have a negative YTD Net Pay figure. They also said they should be able to address it with the next update. You would hope. Luckily, the downloadable paystubs are accurate and there is no reason to think the W-2s would be inaccurate either. They requested that I also upload this issue to their "Feedback" link on the website, which I have done. I think at this point, this is all we can do.
This issue is still going on. Our employees YTD amounts are still incorrect. When will this be fixed?
Hello there, @kim265. I can see the urgency of fixing the issue, and I appreciate you for bringing this to our attention.

I called the number that your post pointed to for payroll support. However, I was told they do not have any information about WorkForce, and there is no number to call about WorkForce. I have now been on a chat for the past 40 minutes to be told that they thought the issue was fixed, but since it is not fixed they will have to gather more information to re-open this ticket. The representative on chat has been very nice and understanding, but that does not really help the situation.
If anyone from Intuit QuickBooks actually reads these threads, please do something.
This ticket was opened by me previously as well, and escalated. It is certainly NOT resolved. I told my employees to DISREGARD their Net Pay figure in the summary and just download the PDF paystub. How is it possible that a company offering payroll services cannot get their cloud-based payroll information service fixed to ensure that the paycheck calculations shared with employees are actually correct?. They don't calculate correctly (see my prior comments outlining the specific errors) and they do not match the pdf file uploaded on the site. This does not apply to all payroll items, so not all employees are affected fortunately. I use my info as a clear window into whether or not it has actually been fixed because my paystubs show a NEGATIVE net pay because my Owner Draw is treated as a deduction (even though it is clearly an addition). And my most recent Workforce Summary still has a negative Net Pay figure. NOT FIXED INTUIT.
No one has reached out to me regarding this issue, which still persists.
I don't require any Quickbooks Desktop Help articles as I can probably train most of your staff.
I understand how time-consuming it is when something isn't applicable the way you need it, MelTilk. Getting this resolved is our priority. Allow me to share details to help you get through this and get back to business seamlessly.
For us to get things back on track, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Care Team to check the status of the issue. Also, to further investigate and provide steps on how to resolve this.
To guide you on how to reach them, you may follow these steps:
Moreover, I've added this link that may help you look for other references when performing QuickBooks-related tasks: QuickBooks Desktop Help articles.
We want this resolved as much as you do, MelTilk. Keep us posted if you have other QuickBooks-related concerns. We're here to help. Take care!
I am having this same issue. Have you gotten a resolution?
No. Apparently no one that monitors these chats can do anything to help, and the "people" this got escalated to are either unable or unwilling to help.
@kim265 ugh figures!
