We recently did an upgrade from 17.0 to 20.0 and when we use statement writer we are getting some errors (see attached).
Error 1:

There was an error during installation.
Downloading file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Intuit/Statement Writer 2017/FsdStatement.vsto did not succeed.
It looks like Statement writer is pointing to the 2017 folder and not the 2020 folder.
Error 2:

We have tried the following things and still not working:

After working with Live Chat (Beau H) they said those Statement Writer files were generated with 17.0 so 17.0 needs to stay installed but the end users could continue using 20.0 with no issues. We just deleted the 17.0 icon from the desktop and turned automatic updates off on the 17.0 version.

We can't get this to work (no updates involved). In QuickBooks Desktop statement writer, we can create a new Statement Writer .QSW file, save it, and close it, and that works fine, but when we turn around and try to open the same file that we just created it won't open with this error. We are using the default path, not a network path, QuickBooks Desktop Accountant's Edition 2018, and Excel 2016.

Hi! I'm having the exact same problem using QB's 2019 and Excel 2016 (no updates involved). I create reports and continually get the "Only ISW 2009 files can be imported..." error. I've tried the "fix-it" items recommended without success. What ended up working for you?
Thanks!
I have the exact same problem using QB's Accountant Desktop 2019 and Excel 2016. I create reports and cannot reopen them. The error is the same "Only ISW 2009 files can be imported..." I tried going through the recommended "fixes" without any success - still cannot open anything I've created. What ended up working for you? Any help is appreciated!
In case it's applicable - I have several full versions of QB's (from 2010 onward) loaded on my machine due to many of our clients' using different version years.

Has anyone found a resolution to this problem??? I spent 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support yesterday and had absolutely no resolution! STILL having the exact same problem! We upgraded from Pro version to Accountant version AND bought the Quickbooks Statement Writer! This is absolutely ridiculous!!!
Hello, @Ashleyk33.
I would feel the same way if I get this issue when using QuickBooks Statement Writer (QSW). We currently don't have any ongoing investigation about this error yet in most cases, the steps provided above or in this article should fix issues encountered with QSW. For now, I recommend following the instructions from there step by step from updating Quickbooks to the latest release down to editing the QBDSK.INI file.
I also understand that you've already contacted our Support Team yet you're getting the same error message. I would suggest getting back to them so a representative can open the previous case you had and be able to help you troubleshoot this error securely following the solutions given from this link: Fix problems with Statement Writer.

I spent two hours on the phone with Blue, or Beau, or whatever her name is, yesterday. We went through every single step that is detailed in those 9/10 steps. And this was after I had already done that myself according to those exact same steps from the referenced article the previous day. After 2 hours, I had to leave in order to make it to my next obligation. She said she would contact me today at 1:00 so we could try further steps. So I drove 58 miles back to my client’s location today, and she never called. It is now 3:30, I’m back home, and she STILL has not called.
What would be the point in calling Tech Support if we’re just going to repeat those 9/10 same steps all over again? Is there, or is there not, a fix to this problem? Should my client receive a refund for his purchase? He had been using QB Pro for years but upgraded to QB Accountant in order to be able to design his statements according to his needs.
Good Evening, @Ashleyk33.
This isn't the impression I want to leave you with. The best way to get this issue fixed is by contacting our Customer Support Team. I know that the agent you spoke to yesterday was supposed to call you today. However, the next time you call in can take less time.
Once you're in touch with our Support Team again, you can give them the case number from yesterday's phone call and start to work on new steps/instructions to help resolve this problem.
Let me know how it goes. I'm only a post away if you need me. Bye for now!
