I just started doing freelance work and I bought the self employed turbo tax bundle online.  Can you tell me where I can watch tutorials for this product?

If I sign up for it today, would I be able to use it to file my 2021 taxes for no additional cost? Or would I only be able to start in the 2022 tax year?

Thanks for the response. If I want to manually change (add/remove) expenses after sending them to TurboTax, is that possible? For example, I paid for 2021 expenses in different ways. Not everything is a transaction in my actual checking account that I linked to the Quickbooks app. So if there are deductible expenses that aren’t showing up on my bank transactions that get transferred to Quickbooks, can I later add them from the TurboTax website?

Also, will transferring to TurboTax change any of the expenses I’ve already put into TurboTax? Because I spent several hours yesterday putting expenses in there and I don’t want to lose everything or have to do it over again.

Self-Employed Turbo Tax Bundle

Hello there, @jerbee02!

Let me share information about sending your tax profile from QuickBooks Self-Employed to TurboTax.

It is recommended to prepare your tax profile completely before sending it to TurboTax since you only got a chance to submit your taxes. This is to ensure we can file your tax return for you on time to avoid any penalties.

To learn more about sending your tax information, here's an article you can read for reference: Send QuickBooks Self-Employed tax info to TurboTax Self-Employed or Live.

However, if you need to change some of your tax information after sending it even if it's only a transaction, you'll have to contact our specialists online to do so: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support.

To add, I've got you these reference questions and topics about your estimated taxes: How QuickBooks Self-Employed tracks self-employment taxes?

You can always leave a comment below or start a new thread if you have any other concerns aside from your tax information. Take care and stay safe!

Self-Employed Turbo Tax Bundle

Ok, but that doesn’t answer my question. Will the progress I have already done in TurboTax be changed or removed if I get a subscription then transfer from Quickbooks to TurboTax? I spent hours yesterday getting everything right, so the only real reason I would sign up for QuickBooks now is to be able to file without extra charge, rather than signing up for Quickbooks later.

So if I understand correctly, it would be better for me to not get a QuickBooks subscription now because it would cause me to have issues with the data that is already in TurboTax?

Hello there, jerbee02.

I want to make sure you’re only paying for the services you need, especially in this current situation. Let me guide you in the right direction about your subscription concern.

Since your expenses are already recorded in Turbo Tax, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Self-Employed Care Team. They can provide detailed information on what will happen to your transactions when you move to QBSE. Then guide you on how to move the existing entries to QBSE without losing them in the previous program.

Here’s how:

  1. Press the Help menu in the upper right to open the support window.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a description about the issue in the field box, like importing data from Turbo Tax to QBSE.
  4. Tap the Continue menu to view the support options.
  5. From there, choose Chat for real-time assistance or Callback to speak with an agent.

To help you stay on top of your taxes and forms, this article provides an overview of the tasks you’ll have to do for the year-end filing. From there, you’ll learn how to get the year-end reports, prepare the tax documents, etc: QuickBooks Self-Employed annual tax guide.

Stay in touch if you need help with managing your data and other QBSE concerns. I'm more than happy to lend a helping hand.

Self-Employed Turbo Tax Bundle

Hello,

I am in the process of filing my taxes. I have the self-employed + turbotax bundle. I logged in with the same info on both accounts, but I'm still being pushed to pay $89 for the federal filing, $39 for the state, and an additional $39 on top of that for a total of $167. But I've already been paying this subscription since last year? Any thoughts?

Hello, TheGreatNate.

As mentioned above, with the Self-Employed Turbo Tax Bundle, you don't have to pay for annual filing in TurboTax. It comes for free with the subscription. You'll be able to file your taxes without having an extra charge.

Since you're getting other charges, I suggest reaching out to our Customer support team. They can check your account and look into this further.

  1. Click the Help menu.
  2. Press the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a description about the issue in the field box, like importing data from Turbo Tax to QBSE.
  4. Hit the Continue menu.
  5. View the support options, select Chat for real-time assistance or Callback to speak with an agent.

I've also added here some great resources about sending your tax data to Turbo Tax, and on what to do if the information is not showing up after exporting them:

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll make sure you're all set. Have a good one!

This isn't true. I have been paying $25.00 per month for the Quickbooks/Turbo Tax bundle and I am also being charged to file my taxes. I have been on the phone for hours and was just told it only works for 1040 ES. What a waste of money this has been.

Self-Employed Turbo Tax Bundle

I got your back, @mthann.

To isolate the issue, you can perform basic browser troubleshooting steps to determine if it is a browser-related problem.

Let's start with accessing your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account on an incognito mode to have a clean slate. Private browsers do not store cache and data files that might cause issues when running websites. Below are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

Once signed in, start our TurboTax return again. If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser. This will remove old files to refresh the background processes of your browser. If the same thing happens, you can use another supported browser. To optimize your QBSE experience, we always have to ensure that your system meets the required requirements to run the program.

However, if the issue persists, I highly recommend reaching out to our Customer Care team. They use specific tools to pull up your account and check your subscription status. They can also provide additional steps to resolve the issue so you can file your TurboTax return.

Also, running reports to get your federal estimated quarterly tax payment and annual tax info is easy in QBSE. To get started, please see the instructions in this article: Get quarterly and annual tax info from QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'm always around if you have any other concerns about processing your TurboTax return. Don't hesitate to add a comment below. Take care.

It looks like there's some kind of promotional pricing for filing early with TurboTax. I think that might actually have something to do with the fact that the Quickbooks + Turbo Bundle customers are unable to file for free.

I'm no software engineer, but if this promotional pricing was set to overwrite the prices for people who want to file early and within the promotional period, it's very possible that this is just a glitch that overwrites what should be "$0" for Quickbooks customers.

I was able to file for free for the last few years for $0 after being a Quickbooks customer, so I think this is just a momentary glitch that will work itself out after February 28.

Pick the product you want and at the end when your ready to file you'll see the discount on federal and state filing.

As long as your QB self-employed is linked with Turbotax you should be fine.

My Turbotax and Quickbooks are linked via the same Intuit account, but I can corroborate with the others above who are also Quickbooks + Turbotax Bundle subscribers that I am unable to file for $0 as of 2/20/2022.

Thank you very much for the response. As it seems to be a bug with no general fix at the moment (the solution mentioned previously did not work), I will reach out to the support team during business hours to get help with this issue in real time. I appreciate that you had actually read my concern and addressed it specifically.

I have seen so many instances of copy-and-pasted support responses that are wildly irrelevant that I hope more Intuit Staff model themselves after you. You have my thanks.
