I have been using QB Desktop for years and years. I currently have QB Desktop Pro Plus 2024. My Subscription expires in 30 days. If I choose not to renew the Subscription will I still be able to use Desktop pro plus 2024? I don't care about the online services. I just need it for my accounts, making invoices, and reports. I don't use the payroll services, the downloading of my accounts or any payment services.
Can I still do the basics but not have access to the online services or will i get totally locked out of using QB Desktop Pro Plus 2024?
Thanks for your help!
You cannot cancel your subscription unless you change your credit card detail to a dummy one before the renewal date. Otherwise, their billing system will charge your card and you must contact Support within 60 days to cancel your subscription and request for a refund. Then you will be in read-only mode for one year to access your data until the program locks you out.
If you don’t need to run any add-ons, you can switch to the older version of QB Desktop with a non-subscription license.
No, @MartyPhoto. If you do not renew your QBDT Pro Plus subscription before it expires, you will lose access to product features, online services, and basic functions. I'd be glad to discuss this further below for better understanding.
Since QBDT Pro Plus works on a subscription-based product, choosing not to renew will lose the ability to perform basic functions like creating invoices and reports. However, you will retain view-only access to your data for one year after your subscription expires. Throughout this period, while you can review your reports, you won’t be able to create new transactions. It's advisable to export your data before canceling your subscription.
Moreover, it’s beneficial to understand how to back up your accounting data in QBDT for future use. Should any issues arise, you’ll be equipped to restore your data using this backup.

I'm in the same boat and would like to switch to an older version of QB Desktop. How do I do this and preserve my data, so I can continue to do transactions?
You need QB Desktop 2019 license or newer. You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA to find one.
Data preservation is vital to maintaining the continuity of your business transactions, especially when considering switching to an older version of QuickBooks Desktop, Denise. Let me share some valuable information about this in detail.
Firstly, it's important to know that if you use a previous version of QuickBooks, you'll have to manually re-enter the transactions you have entered in the upgraded or converted file in the old backup file. To learn more about company file compatibility, refer to this article: Company file compatibility with QuickBooks Desktop.
Moreover, it's essential to remain on an active, supported version of QuickBooks Desktop. If you want to transition to an older version of QBDT, please know that there isn't a direct way anymore. However, if you wish to export transactions that can fit your specific needs, you can consider choosing QuickBooks Online. There are accounting products that can meet your preferences, from the simplest to the most complex.
Furthermore, as a QuickBooks Desktop user, you still own your data, regardless of subscription status. You can open and edit company files with a compatible license or active subscription. For more information, check this out: Renew your subscription or use view-only mode in QuickBooks Desktop.
Additionally, you can efficiently manage your QBDT account and subscriptions with the Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs).
You're always welcome to ask any additional questions about data in QuickBooks. Just keep me posted, Denise, and I'd be more than glad to assist you whenever you need it.
