Yes, you can still use the same company information in your new QBO company.
Just to clarify, your Intuit account is still there, meaning you can still use the same user ID and password. Only your QBO company / QBO subscription / QBO plan will be canceled or purged.
You can add as many QBO Companies under your Intuit account as you want.

You are allowed to purge your QBO account anytime during the first 60 days and migrate data from QBD, except QBO Simple Start.

Thanks but I cannot see any option like " Export your company file to Quickbooks Online". When I did it first time there was an option under company section.
On your Desktop Pro/Premier, navigate to menu File > Utilities > Copy Company File for QuickBooks Online.

It's nice to see you here in the Community, @hlambert.
I'd like to shed some light about purging data in QuickBooks Online.
The system only allows you to to purge your data if your account is less than 60 days. Know that this process only works for QuickBooks Online Plus and Essentials versions.
On the other hand, the free trial for QuickBooks Online is good for 30 days only. If you wish to continue using the program, you'll need to have a paid subscription.
To learn more about our plans and pricing, you can check out this site: Choose the right accounting plan.
If your account is less than 60 days, here's how you can delete the data and start over:
If you want to create a new account, here's how to do that:

I am an accountant who has wasted several hours on trying to help a client transfer from Desktop to Online. This process is very frustrating. There should be more support from Quickbooks to assist with start up and transfer problems. When you type "purgecompany" nothing happens. You should be able to wipe out the company data and start again. I will not be recommending QuickBooks to my future clients. I will be looking for another software that has better customer support. I am so frustrated.

For the cancelled accounts we can send the case to our cancellation or delete company Queue, you just need to contact us and request to escalate the company you want to delete, we may ask extra information to verify the account and to check if the right user is requesting it.
You can still sign in with the old credentials you have in purchasing accounts just click on sign in - directly and it will route you to a sign in page.
If you want to reactivate the account and just want to start new- you can also use the purge company file option to start over.

Who is "our" and "us"?
I tried adding this to the url and nothing came up on the screen to let me choose yes. /purgecompany.
You can only purge a QBO account within 60 days (excluding QBO Simple Start).

I'm using the desktop version not the online. Is it the same process?
Deleting a company file in QuickBooks Desktop is a different process from QuickBooks Online, @pharmacyshop.
In the Desktop version, you can create a brand new company file or use your existing company to create a basic framework for new ones.
To start, you’ll want to make a copy of your existing company file. I’m glad to show you the steps.
Once done, you’ll need to remove the transactions to start fresh. Here’s how:
You can run a Transaction List by Date report to ensure accounts are completely empty after condensing your file. See this article for more information: Create new company files from existing ones in QuickBooks Desktop.
I’ve included this reference in case you want to consolidate your reports from multiple companies: Combine reports from multiple company files.

Hello there. Your screenshot wasn't attached successfully ( if you've included it in your post).
May I know what QuickBooks Plan you're trying to purge? QuickBooks Simple Start and an account that is older than 60 days cannot undergo the purging process. That could be the reason why you keep getting an error when trying to do it.
If that's the case, you'll have to open a new blank QBO account and cancel your old one.
To cancel, you can follow the steps below.
On the other hand, if you're purging an account less than 60 days and it's not the simple plan, we run some basic troubleshooting steps to isolate the problem.
We can start with checking if your computer is connected to internet, and accessing QuickBooks Online in a private browser. This usually resolves any browser-related issues.
If it works, clear the browsing history of your regular web browser. This will remove previously stored browsing data that might have caused the issue. Otherwise, you can try using other supported browsers to be thorough.
Once canceled, we keep your data for a year. To learn more about it, I'd recommend checking out this article: What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?.
Also, your screenshot wasn't attachment successfully ( if you've included it in your post). You can add it in your next post. Just make sure to cover all important details.
Please let me know how it works for you. If you still need my assistance, just let me know by commenting below. Take care!

Im an accountant can i delete my company and start over?
We can have your company deleted and start fresh in QuickBooks (QBO), @guz843. I've got you the steps to get this done right away.
Before performing this task, you'll first have to export all of your transactions, lists, or reports from your company and secure them on your desktop folder. Doing so will ensure you have a copy of those data for future reference. Once done, let's proceed with the steps below.
To delete your data in QBO, your company must be less than 60 days old. To start that:
However, if your company is 60 days older, you'll need to cancel your account and start a new subscription. Let me guide you on how:
With that, this method will give you read-only access to view your data for a year. Thus, the system will then delete it after that period.
For more detailed information about these steps mentioned above, please refer to this article: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.
Moreover, I've got you this helpful article with different QuickBooks videos that may help you handle and manage your data: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos. This way, it guides you with the short step-by-step videos to get started with QBO.

Do you have a QBO Accountant account?
Hey folks,
Having just had this exact same issue and facing the exact same problem, I was just online with a rep and they seem to have solved the issue for me. So I wanted to take you through the steps that I did and that solved the issue for me. It is interesting looking at the online guide as it's ALMOST correct but there was 1 important step that, to me, seemed to be different to the guide and what I believe, ultimately, solved it for me.
Here is the guide ...
"Your next steps depend on your subscription level, and whether you've been using QuickBooks for longer than 60 days.
We noticed you have QuickBooks Online Simple Start, so here's how to start over fresh with QuickBooks Online.
Follow these steps to cancel your account. If you use payroll, you should cancel your payroll subscription too.
Note: Once you cancel QuickBooks, we delete your data after one year. This gives you some buffer time if you decide to come back to your previous account.
Follow step 1. as indicated above in the guide.
As for step 2. sign up online as suggested in the guide. HOWEVER, don't just sign up for a new online account (you'll get the 'username/email is already in use' error), ALSO do not just 'sign in' to your current account, it'll just take you to your account you're trying to purge/delete. You must sort of do BOTH. Start by looking at and selecting a plan as though you are starting new ( I was and still am using the Simple Start plan). Choose whether or not your using payroll. NOW, here is the magic ... at the option where it's asking you to now create your new QBO account, do NOT do this. Look down a little bit, just below the "One more step" option and you should see something like ... 'Adding a company to an existing account? Sign in'
Select that ... sign in via that option. It will still take you to billing and ask for information there but once completed it will now log you into a fresh 'install' of QBO via the same email and password as before. This is the part of everyone talking about 'starting a new company' under a current QBO account. This should work for people. Let me know how you go.
Cheers,
Derek.
Just resubscribed to an acct just over 1 year old. I understand that the info should have automatically purged, but it's still there. I understand I can't purge at this point (0ver 60 days), but need to cancel and restart. But didn't I just do that?!
Or do I need to cancel and abandon that email/acct and start over with a new one?
Frustratingly too clunky to just delete your info.
Thanks for joining the thread, @LM DeLa. Allow me to help share insights about purging data and canceling your account to start fresh in QuickBooks.
Yes, you're right. We're unable to purge data if it's more than 60 days. Since your account is over one year old, you'll have to option to manually delete the transactions or cancel the subscription.
Please note that you don't have to abandon or change email. You can have more than one QuickBooks Online company (account) with the same email address. To cancel the subscription, follow the steps below:
Once canceled, your data will be available in read-only access for a year. Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you save a handy copy of your data: Export or Print My File. For more details about the cancelation, please see this article: Cancel your QuickBooks Online Subscription or Trial.
Then, you can now start a new account:
If you have multiple QuickBooks companies, you can use the same login info to save time. This way, you can switch between companies easily.
I've got you this helpful article with different QuickBooks videos that may help you handle and manage your data: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.
I’ll be around to help in case you need further assistance in getting started with your new account or anything else. Leave a reply with more details about it, and I'll get back to you. Have a good one.
