I updated my IMac last week to High Sierra 10.13.2 Now I have been blocked or locked out of using my Quickbooks. I have 2012 Version and hadn't updated in awhile. Can I just get new Program installed and It will convert?

Hey @Integrity2007,
If you are trying to reset your password and regain access, you can try the Automated Password Reset Tool for QuickBooks Desktop to reset your Admin password. If that still doesn't work, let me know.
Hey @Felissa,
I'm not a Mac user, unfortunately, but there are a few threads about Sierra compatibility on the QuickBooks Learn and Support page. Most of the resources I found refer to versions 2014 and newer.
@MorganB, do you know who @Felissa can reach out to if they need to convert to a newer QB Desk version?
Hi there Felissa,
I appreciate you reaching out to us here in the Community. I'm happy to lend a hand.
JamesOng and alex247 have got it right. Upgrading your account to QuickBooks Mac 2016 would take care of the lockout issue.
If you're still running into this problem after you update, you may want to speak with an agent who specializes in Desktop support for Mac. Agents have the necessary tools to fix exactly what is causing the lockout. The number to reach support is 1-877-797-5806. The most recent contact information can be found here: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
You'll be back to business in no time. Keep up the great work and let me know if I can help with anything else.
Have 2015 Pro, have started upgrade to online, BUT QB have locked me out...NO ACESS to my buisiness info (5 plus years) unless I pay $500 upgrade. literally hold ny buisness HOSTAGE for ransom, support team second party hung up after they couldn't sell me!!! QB are turning out to extortionists...I paid for desk top software..now they are holding access for RANSOM $$$
Hello @Integrity2007,
Can you provide some more information so we can get you connected with the right people? Who did you contact to do the transfer? Thanks!
Yes have used QB for 7 or 8 years, had begun the move to online...while uising 2015 desk Pro, while working on estimate, i get kick off...ok no worries try t o sign back in...wrng password...ok hit forgot password...normally it would got to 'secret question" but must have tried to many times...ok..go to info page...license #...says incorrect info??? call support number...they entire pupose is to sell...informed UNLESS I PAY $499.00 I can not get access to even view my account!!! software is on my desktop...paid for...but QB seems to be holding my client info hostage unless I pay $499.00 this came with no emails or wanrings...I have been getting msg "what new with QB' and then this. $499.00 to trasfer account from one QB account to another QB account...same company...now thats GANGSTER!
Then after "support sales team" could not "close" they literaaly gave me another # and hung up! and they are representing QB?
Thats all I wanted to do is to view/access account with password reset!!!
Hey @Integrity2007,
If you are trying to reset your password and regain access, you can try the Automated Password Reset Tool for QuickBooks Desktop to reset your Admin password. If that still doesn't work, let me know.
@Integrity2007 do not pay that fee! The "support team second party" is most likely spam. I have never heard of Intuit charging for this. Be careful there are alot of scammers like that now. If you are trying to switch to Online and are having issues, call the support line 800-926-3667.
Please know, if you call a number for Intuit and do not get a recording first, it isn't Intuit. I know from experience.
Hope this helps!
Hi:
I've been using Desktop QuickBooks Pro 2010 for...about 8 years with great results. THEN, forgot my password and am locked out. The program "reset administrator password" doesn't work, and the online "automated password reset" doesn't work either. I called TS, they said this is an obsolete version and is not supported.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.

Update.....
Never mind. I disconnected my network adapter from the internet, the local password reset worked and I'm back in. Apparently it tries to connect to QB online data?
Don't care, it works....
@4bfox, glad your crafty self-triage did the trick :).
Critical Internet Explorer update needed |
This link won't help me. I have a QB Pro 2014. I knew it wouldn't be supported after June 2018 but I failed to remove the password protection before then. Sept. 24 '18 I had a pop up to update my password -- since it had been over 90 days since I last updated it ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''(standard stuff) Not thinking this through ahead of time I changed my password, but it wasn't changed. Forgot what the old one was (I erased it and wrote the new one over the area). Now I am completely locked out. This is just a "virtual file cabinet" for me for over 1,000 clients past records. Please help me get back in and then I can take the password protection off for future needs. I do not need to upgrade.

I am having the same problem. Been in Business for 20 years. After an update i have been locked out of my Business Account, They want me to purchase a newer version. I have not is there anyway to extract my Customer data. I am desperate as i cannot pay my bills without invoicing my custmers and the information is in Quickbooks.
This does not help me. "....QuickBooks Desktop to access Intuit services will need to meet certain system requirements after May 31, 2018. "
My QB Pro 2014 --- 2014 is not supported. BUT when the system asked to change the password after the standard 90 days it didn't take the new password and I had already erased the old password. The Reset QB Admin Password process won't work either. I get the error: "Unable to validate licence information. Please contact technical support." TS says they can't help.
SOMEONE must know how to by pass the old QB Pro password system?!!! HELP
Anyone ---- ?? I really need to get into this QB.
Hey @SLM13,
Sorry for the late response. Have you tried the Automated Password Reset Tool yet? I'd recommend reading the full recovery article, you should be able to recover the password by following these trouble-shooting steps.
How did you disconnect your internet adapter?
Hey there, @WB301.

6. Select the same QBDT version on the QuickBooks Desktop Products drop-down.
7. Click Browse for Company File, then choose the company file that you want to reset the password for.
8. Enter your New Password, then Confirm New Password.
9. Select Reset Password to complete the process.
Once done, you should be able to open your QBDT company file. For your reference, you may check out this article for further guidance: Use the Automated Password Reset Tool for QuickBooks Desktop.
That should do it! Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment down below. I'd be glad to answer if you have any additional concerns. Take care and enjoy the rest of the day.
God bless you. I was able to regain access through the reset tool. It took me a few tries as my QB2010 license and info kept getting a response that my information did not match. I had purchased QB2015 which I only used briefly as I much prefer the QB2010 simplistic format. I used the QB2015 product license to gain access to the reset tool download and then was able to select my QB2010 for the password reset. I am beyond relieved. Many thanks again!
You're always welcome, @WB301.
I'm glad to know that the Automated Password Reset Tool helped you regain your access to your QuickBooks company file.
Feel free to post again here in the Community should you have any concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success!
I have Quickbooks Pro 2010. Last accessed on November 22, 2018 with no problems. I tried to open it a couple days ago and asks for my password, which I entered. DID NOT WORK so I tried the challenge question, Still DID NOT Work. Went on Live Chat and after given them remote access to my computer, and 2 hours and 45 minutes later I was told they needed to send me to the next level of support, but they don't support my version. IF I were to upgrade they MAY be able to open my files but don't know for sure. PLEASE HELP as I have over 10 years of files I now can't access and need to do year end bookwork with Accountant. HELP! HELP! HELP! thank you
