American Express Bank Feed "QBDT" doesnt appear

I just started receiving a popup that AMEX downloads will stop working 3/30/23 (actually the popup is wrong and says 3/30/22 ,but it links to a correct web page that says this year, in about two weeks).

Refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking

The article basically says turn off your bank feeds and set them up using the institution account name "American Express - QBDT".   However, that account doesn't exist in the account list, only the old "American Express" which is going to break in two weeks.

Help?  Anybody else?

You're in the right place, @sdrevik.

With your post, I appreciate you for providing an article. The one you mentioned is right. And now, allow me to assist you in sorting things out.

"American Express" by March 30, 2023, will become "American Express Card - QBDT" in QuickBooks Desktop Bank Feeds.

This means that the updated name will only appear in the banking list on the specified date.

And the notification you're receiving right now is just a reminder of the said update. You don't need to worry about it as no action is needed on your end.

For future reference, if you want to learn how to fix some of the OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop, feel free to read this article: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to post again if you have more questions about managing your bank connections in QBDT. I'll be happy to lend a hand. Take care and have a good one!

Thanks for the fast response!    We appreciate the clarification (the article says "before 3/30", but I guess they didn't have the capability to run an overlapping period for both systems.    I'll set a calendar reminder to do it that day.

I wish this information were clearer in the instructions -- so I would have known that an action we must take "by 3/30/22 [sic]" is actually not possible "until" 3/30/23 -- and known this BEFORE I took the steps of disabling the previous banking connection.

We shouldn't have to come to the forums to locate this additional information.  Couldn't this all be properly noted here?  https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/bank-connectivity/refresh-connection-...

These "replies" don't help me know.   I'd like to download transactions, but following your directions I have now turned off my bank feeds.   WTF?

I have updated to American Express-QBDT link.

Under the "old" link, a memo field would appear and it would be populated with the cardholder name.

This no longer appears.

Also, you could select account or items and now only account appears.

Both are needed. The first for reconciliation purposes, the second for job costing.

Will this be corrected? If so when, it is causing issues.

American Express Bank Feed "QBDT" doesnt appear

Welcome to the Community, SteveC7.

On March 30th, 2023, American Express will change to American Express Card - QBDT in bank feeds. When this change occurs, you'll need to disconnect your old account connection, and reconnect it under the financial institution's new title.

If you're a Delegate User and Non-Account Holder authorized to connect accounts to Intuit products, you'll need to connect with the American Express Delegate provider.

When March 30th comes, you'll want to prepare to switch to Express Web Connect.

Here's how:

  1. Make sure you've updated to your product's latest release and created a backup of the company file you're working with.
  2. In your top menu bar, go to File, Switch to Single-user Mode, Company, then My Company.
  3. Sign in to the Intuit Account if prompted. In the event you haven't created one yet, or need to recover your user ID and password, you can do so anytime.
  4. Delete pending online payments and/or checks.
  5. Add and match previously downloaded transactions.

Next, you'll want to disconnect your American Express account:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to Lists, then Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click an account you want to turn off and choose Edit Account.
  3. Go to Bank Settings.
  4. Turn on Deactivate all online services, hit OK, then select Save & Close.

Disconnecting your account will make sure you don't have any discrepancies. Next, you can reconnect the American Express account.

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a wonderful day!

Yes, the American Express QBDT feed showed up a few days ago in the list of possible bank feeds.   They just wanted until the last minute to implement.

I'm using the most current version of QB for MAC and I don't see "American Express QBDT". Today is April 1.  Has the MAC version not been updated to include this?

Thank you for joining the conversation, chopper1.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is actually included in this update. Let me help you with some steps.

If you haven't already, you'll want to disconnect your bank account and reconnect with the new bank name. If it's still can't search for it, update your QuickBooks and try again.

  1. Open the QuickBooks menu.
  2. Select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  3. Select Install and Relaunch.

If it's still the same thing, please contact our support for QBDT Mac, so they can use more tools to check this further for you. They are available on weekdays from 6 AM to 6 PM PT.

  1. Follow this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/contact.
  2. In the Which product is your question about? field, choose QuickBooks for Mac.
  3. In the second box, enter something like cannot find American Express - QBDT and click Continue.

On the other hand, I can see that my colleagues have already shared some additional references that you can use as reference in the future. You may want to check them out as well.

Let me know if you have other questions in mind. Have a good one.

I am trying to re establish the connection between Quickbooks and AMEX. I am getting an error on QB saying

"The requested action requires account owner approval. Please have the authorized account holder provide authorization to proceed."

What do I do next?

Hi there, I appreciate you chiming in on this thread. I've come to share details and ensure you'll get the assistance you need.

With QuickBooks Desktop, if you're a Delegate User Non-Account Holder authorized to connect accounts to Intuit products, you'll need to connect with the American Express Delegate provider. This way, it would help you establish bank connectivity from AMEX.

Also, you can follow the steps shared by my colleague, ZackE, above to guide you through the complete steps. You'll want to visit this article for more detailed informationRefresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking

Moreover, I'm adding these references to guide you on how to match and categorize bank transactions once this gets sorted out on your end:

You can always reply in the comments below if you require additional assistance connecting your financial institution to QuickBooks. We'd be delighted to help you further. Take care!

I can get the connection to work with AMEX as a delegate connection, but it won't download any transactions.  We have 6 cards connected to our account and its not pulling the transactions from all of them.  When I get to "link your accounts" it will only let me select 1 account.  Any way to remedy this?

Thanks for joining this thread, Julie L2. I'm here to help you bring your AMEX transactions to your company file.

The system allows us to select one account per connecting account in QuickBooks. If the other accounts are associated with the parent account, we can link the parent one. Also, some missing data can sometimes take up to 10 business days to transfer to QuickBooks.

The other way around bringing them into the program is by using the Web Connect feature. Export the bank data from your bank website and download them as a (.QBO) file extension. Here's how to upload the file:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Select the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.

Also, feel free to use these articles for guides:

If you encounter issues during the import process, this article is a great help to accomplish the task: Learn how to fix the import errors

To keep them accurate from time to time, we can match and reconcile your account:

I'm always around if you have other concerns about linking accounts and handling bank data in QuickBooks Desktop. Have a good one.

American Express Bank Feed "QBDT" doesnt appear

Hello,

I am not seeing the new name in my drop down list. I started a support chat and the agent stated I should upgrade to the latest Quickbooks pro to solve the problem. My quickbooks license is still valid, I should not have to do that.  How do I get American Express Bank Feed "QBDT" to appear. I have followed app the steps on the refresh my connection article. Is Express web connect not an option for my "stand alone version" of pro 2021?

Thanks

I linked the parent account, its not downloading transactions.  Any solution? I'd rather not have to download and add the transactions as you described.

I have contacted support and they sent me an article to solve issue using a delegate user.  I have multiple cards through AMEX, but only one for this company file and no other employees have a card, so I do no feel the delegate user is the answer to my problem.  Why is AMEX QBDT not showing up????

I recognize how vital it is for your business to use the bank feeds feature, KJG27. I'm here to help ensure you can connect your American Express account to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Let's update your Financial Institutions Directory (FiDir) to get the latest information from your financial institution. You can perform the process manually or automatically.

Before we begin, create a backup copy of the company file to prevent accidental loss and the following tasks:

Next, head to the Bank Feeds Center to update the FiDir. Here's how:

  1. In your company file, go to the Banking menu at the top bar to select Bank Feeds and Bank Feeds Center.
  2. Select the Refresh account(s) icon and choose Sync all for this bank from the drop-down.

For more in-depth information about the process, see the following reference: Update the Financial Institutions Directory in QuickBooks Desktop.

Regarding your concern @Julie L2, you can set up a bank or credit card account with multiple sub-accounts to easily link it to your bank and reconcile downloaded transactions. When connecting the account, you'll need to know first how your Financial Institution (FI) sends the downloaded entries.

If your banking data download to one account, link only the parent account. If the transactions download to individual accounts, connect the sub-accounts and not the parent account.

I've attached an article that will help you link your account in the desktop program: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop. You can also follow the troubleshooting steps in this article when you encounter bank feeds errors and reconcile your account:

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help. If you have other banking-related concerns, drop a comment below and include my name. I'll jump right back in to assist you further.
