Printing last years tax returns

How do I find last year's 941 quarterly reports?  The documentation is under E-filings, but there is nothing under Saved filings.  Where do you find a copy of the report in order to print a copy?

Glad to have you back, @Julie96.

I'm here to provide some insights about viewing filed forms in QuickBooks Desktop.

The 941 forms that you filed can be saved in a PDF format. This will be stored on your hard drive, not in QuickBooks Desktop. If you've changed your PC, this can be the reason you're unable to see those filed forms.

If you can recover the data from your computer, you'll still be able to print the form. If not, you can perform any of these options below to accomplish your goal.

First is to pull up and print the same form in QuickBooks Desktop, just make sure to select the correct quarter. Know that the form is displaying as 2020 since it's the current year. However, the information that will show up is for 2019.

You can check out this link on how to do prepare and print them: Learn how to prepare and print Form 941, Schedule B, and Form 940.

The second is to gather the 941 form's data and download the form from the IRS website. Lastly is to process it manually through the Tax Form Worksheets in QBDT. Please refer to this article for more details: Excel-based payroll reports.

I've also added here some resources about Payroll Tax Forms for additional reference:

I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about payroll forms in QuickBooks Desktop. I'll be happy to help you out. Have a great day.

Hi Julie96. To view the forms that you have e-filed, just follow these quick steps:

  1. Select Taxes, then Payroll Tax.
  2. Under Monthly Forms or Annual Forms, select View Archived Forms.
  3. Select the desired form.
  4. Select View.

Now the form will appear in a PDF format, now can save or print the file. Let me know if you need anything else, I'm always happy to help.

I do not see monthly, annual or archived forms anywhere.  Last month my computer hard drive crashed.  I had a back up of my QB account, but I am wondering if this is why I cannot find them.  Are the archived forms only saved on the hard drive?

I had intuit payroll last year for part of the year. I can't sign in because the account is not active this year. Is there any way to get a copy of W-2s from last year?

I still am unable to find anyone to help me get the forms I need. I was told to go to the help menu.

What site is this found at? I did not see any Quickbooks Desktop Help. Support hours does not show a contact number. I apparently had full service payroll.

I appreciate the details and the steps you've taken, Ace14.

Since your printer works fine, let's run the PDF Repair Tool to resolve this. This tool helps fix unexpected results when printing in QuickBooks.

Before proceeding, make sure QuickBooks is updated to the latest release and your computer is connected to the installed printer.

To start, we'll have to install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Once done, let's run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It will take about a minute to run.
  3. Attempt to print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

If the issue persists, I suggest following the steps shared in Solution 2 of this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print Problems.

Additionally, you can check out this article to know more about the requirements for printing W-2 forms: Print W-2 and W-3 Forms.

Please notify us if you have more questions about the forms. We're always around to help you out.

I can help you with printing your 2019 tax return, @Bigg-Head20.

Are you trying to print a copy of your previously filed form from 2019? If so, you can do it from the Payroll Center.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and select the Payroll Center.
  2. Under the File Forms tab, select the form and click on Create Form.
  3. Select your filing period and click OK.
  4. When the Payroll Tax Form pops up, you'll see the Save and CloseSave as PDF, and Print. You can click any of those so you can print and save them.

In case, you can't find the form from the Payroll Center's File Forms tab, try these solutions:

  • Getting the most recent payroll update. Find the detailed steps by going to this article: Latest payroll news and updates.
  • Making sure that the form is active.

To make the form active:

  1. Go to the File Forms tab, click the Forms arrow and choose Make a New Form Active.
  2. From the State list, choose your state abbreviation if you're looking for a state form, or choose Federal to look for a federal form.
  3. Click the form you need and choose Add Form.

You can check the following article for more information on print copies of the forms that you want: View and print payroll tax forms.

In case you’d encounter any errors printing your forms, you can check the following article on how to fix it: Resolve printing issues.

I'm only a post away if you have any other questions with your tax forms. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week!

its not there my 2020 W2

Thanks for joining in the thread, ap2178.

I can share additional details to locate your 2020 W2's form.

Before we start, please ensure that your QuickBooks software and payroll tax table are up-to-date to the latest release. If you have filed your 2020 W2's, it's probably the Automatically create an archive when I e-file or print checkbox is selected. It will create an archived PDF format on your computer.

Let's manually pull up your W2 form. I'll show you how.

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, then type in File Explorer.
  2. Select My Computer or This PC from the navigation bar.
  3. Go to this location C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.
  4. Look for a folder that contains the .pdf form.

Alternatively, you can download the W2 form from the IRS website and manually fill it out. You can pull up a tax worksheet from QuickBooks for the details:

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Employees & Payroll, then click More Payroll Reports in Excel.
  3. Choose the Tax Form Worksheets.
  4. From the downloaded Excel file, Select Annual W-2/W-3.
  5. Enter the tax year.
  6. Hit Create Report.

Let me share this article for your reference: Print W-2 and W-3 forms.

I've included this helpful material to help you fix common printing issues: Resolve printing issues. Here you can find the solution in resolving trouble when printing in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can add any details below if you have further questions or concerns about W2 Form. I'm always here to help.

  2. Select the File Forms tab.
  3. Under Filing History, select the Save Filings or E-Filings tab.
  4. Select the form to view it.

If you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll, here are the following steps to view them:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu, then select Payroll tax.
  2. Choose the Filings tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Filing Resources section and select Archived forms and filings.
  4. Locate and select the form you want to view.
  5. Click the View button.

In addition, if you encounter any problems while printing your 941 forms, please see the following article for guidelines to isolate them: Resolve printing issues.

Let me know if you have other questions about Form 941. I'll be right here to help you out. Have a great day, Crabtree Amusements Inc!
