Fix Error in reload.sql in QuickBooks for Windows

Learn how to fix Error in reload.sql at line XXXXX Sybase Message: when you open a portable company file or an accountant’s copy transfer file in QuickBooks for Windows.
Error in reload.sql errors have different sybase error messages. You see these errors when you open an accountant’s copy transfer file (.QBX).
- Error in reload.sql at line 29886. Sybase message: can not convert hex string to a varbinary
- Error in reload.sql at line 25514. Sybase message: Right truncation of string data
To fix these, you just need to create and send the file to your accountant again:
- Open the company file from which you created the accountant’s copy transfer file.
- Remove the accountant’s copy restriction.
- Create and send the new accountant’s copy to your accountant.
You might see this error when your portable company file (.QBM), or accountant’s copy transfer file (.QBX) is larger than 3MB and you try to open it across a network.
Error in reload.sql at line 40454. Sybase message: The file [file_name] is invalid when the disk sandbox feature is enabled for database '[database]’
To fix it, you just need to move your file to the computer where you use QuickBooks. Make sure you update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release before you continue:
Solution 1: Restore the file locally
Step 1: Move the file locally
- Open a local folder where you want to save your file. Then, right-click anywhere.
- Select New, then select Folder.
- Enter a name for the folder without special characters (! " # $ % & ‘ * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] ^ { | } ~).
- Go to the folder where your portable company file or accountant’s copy is saved.
- Right-click on the file, then select Copy.
- Open the folder you created. Right-click anywhere, then select Paste.
Step 2: Open or restore the file
- Press and hold the Ctrl key, then open QuickBooks.
- Restore your portable company file or open the accountant's copy.
If you still can’t restore the file, continue to Solution 2.
Solution 2: Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool
Download the QuickBooks Tools Hub, then run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.
Solution 3: Repair QuickBooks
- Close QuickBooks, then repair it.
- Once you’re done, open QuickBooks and try to restore the file again.
If you still can’t open it, your QuickBooks installation files might be damaged. Continue to Solution 3.
Solution 4: Reinstall QuickBooks
- Close QuickBooks.
- Uninstall, then re-install QuickBooks.
- Once you’re done, retry to open or restore the file.
