Let me guide you in downloading the QuickBooks Online app to your laptop.

 

If your laptop meets the desired system requirement, you should be able to download the desktop app on your new PC.

 

You'll have to make sure that you're using a Windows 64-bit laptop and ensure that the user must be a QuickBooks Online subscriber or an accountant with a QuickBooks Online Accountant so you can download the app.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Gear ⚙ icon. Then select Get the desktop app.
  3. Depending on your settings, you might see the app install automatically.  If not, QuickBooks will prompt you to save the .exe file.
    • If asked, choose where you want to save the file and select Save. Open the QuickBooks Setup file to install.
  4. A shortcut to the app gets installed on your desktop. After you install the app, it should open automatically. If it doesn’t, open the app from the shortcut.
  5. On the sign-in screen, enter your user ID and password. Then select Sign in.
  6. If you see more than one QuickBooks Online company, select the company you want to open. 
  7. The first time you use the desktop app, you’ll see an option to select how QuickBooks is displayed on the main homepage, (you can change this later).
    • If you switch from QuickBooks Desktop and want a similar view, select Yes, let’s go.
    • If you’re already familiar with QuickBooks Online, select No, I already know how to use QuickBooks Online.
  8. After selecting your company, you’re now all set.

It's important to know why your items have gone back while the print entry areas have turned white. This way, you can fix the issue and get back to your business tasks in the QuickBooks Online Desktop App. No worries, I'll lay down the solution to help you get them back to normal.

 

This unexpected behavior could probably cause by accumulated junk files in the system. Thus, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve this. You can follow this reference as your guide in refreshing the app:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Once done, close and re-open the app.
     

 

You can also uninstall and reinstall the application if the same thing happens.

Hi there, Irene. Let's fix the program issues that prevent you from entering your password. We can use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to troubleshoot this.  

 

If you're unable to enter your password, we can utilize the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Ensure first that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release, and create a backup file of your company to prevent any potential losses due to unforeseen circumstances. 

 

To begin troubleshooting, follow these steps:

 

  1. Close your QuickBooks Desktop, then download the recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Please save it in an easily accessible location and open it (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). Follow the on-screen instructions to install it, agreeing to the terms and conditions.
  3. Once complete, you can access the tool hub by double-clicking the icon on your Windows desktop

 

Afterward, proceed to these steps to run a quick repair on your program:

 

  1. Choose Program Problems in the tool hub.
  2. Select Quick Fix My Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

To begin with, you're getting the error message Unable to locate the file may be due to your company file being relocated or renamed. This error can also occur if your QuickBooks file has been removed or your computer isn't connected to the location where the file is stored. To fix this issue, choose the method you use to access your company file, and then proceed with the following steps:

 

If you're using a network to access your QuickBooks file. Try these solutions:

 

Solution 1: To ensure you're connected to the network, ping the server

When I try to update per a recent notice that keeps popping up when I open QB application on my PC, I keep getting errors and have to back out of the update. Error 1328. Error updating file C:\Config.MS\PTFCAD.tmp. System error -1072807676, which give me the option to Abort. Then I receive Error 1712, then Error 1603

Hi App,

 

The error 1328 normally appears when you're installing, uninstalling, updating, or repairing QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). 

 

To get this resolve, I recommend uninstalling your QBDT account and then reinstalling it. Before you uninstall it, make sure you have your license number handy as well as the product year and version.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. From the Windows Start menu, search for “Control Panel”, then open it.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. Find and select the version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to uninstall.
  4. Choose Uninstall/ChangeRemove and then Next.  

 

If you cannot see this option, sign out and sign back into Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights). After that, install QuickBooks Desktop again.

 

However, if the issue persists, I recommend following Solution 2 in this article: Resolve Error 1328.
