Hi - Having issues since last night with QB download of AMEX data - something that had been working fine until now. This is super weird - hang on tight.
Tried to download as usual, got OL-206 error, and then QB started complaining about unfinished connection.
Used control key bypass to try again. Kept getting error.
Rebooted PC and router.
Tried to deactivate Amex for online feed, and couldn't, another error about unfinished connection.
Some combo of control key bypass and retries got it to deactivate online feed.
So now I have my Amex account deactivated - it no longer shows up in Bank Feeds.
Tried to reactivate, keep getting OLSU-1011 error (can't contact branding server), and when I try, it crashes Chrome on my machine, Chrome immediately dies if it's open. Chrome is default browser.
Weird, right? what's up? can anyone else download Amex data?
Thanks for letting us know, bitboyenterprises.
Yes, that's weird. I immediately checked for an ongoing issue after knowing about your concern with the error OLSU-1011, however, I wasn't able to find one. Let's run some troubleshooting steps to fix it so you can carry on working on your QuickBooks responsibilities.
Several reasons cause this error are the following:
Before we proceed, let's ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release. This ensures you have the latest features and fixes. Then, let's make sure that the default accounts are set up under your personal and company preferences.
Here's how:
If the issue persists, let's manually update your Financial Institutions Directory (FiDir). I'll show you how:
For your reference, you can read this article for more insights: Bank Feeds setup error OLSU-1011.
I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support if the problem continues. They can gather log files and submit a ticket for more investigation to determine the root cause of this.
I've included this resource for future use once your bank feeds are functioning normally: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
You're welcome to post again if you need further assistance with bank feeds. We're always available to help you.
Hi Giovann - thanks for your reply.
I have done all three of these steps, I think.
I updated QB Desktop to the latest version. When I check for updates, no new updates are available, and version reported in F2 window is QB Desktop Pro Plus 2022 Release R5P (64-bit) R5_101.
I have checked and made sure that the default accounts in Checking preferences are all set to my primary business checking account for each of the 6 entries.
I have downloaded and replaced the fidir.txt file as indicated.
No joy, I'm afraid. I'm able to login to my Amex account at the website, and I'm able to download transactions from Citicard for my one other online account.
But I still get a OLSU-1011 when I try to set up Amex again. I will contact support at this point. Thanks for your help.
Hi,
Please let me know if you come up with a solution. I am specifically having an issue with AMEX since yesterday.
Thank you,
Jason

Hey there, @mehrvarz.
Have you tried the steps provided by my @Giovann_G? If you're still getting the same error after performing them, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support team. They can take a closer look at your case and provide further troubleshooting. They can also raise a ticket to our engineering team if necessary.

As I suspected, this was a back-end issue. I was able to connect and set-up Amex for electronic download now after waiting a day, but when I try to download transactions, I get an OL315 error "Sorry this payment date is too far in the future". I will wait another day and see what's up. None of this inspires confidence in my now-three-times more expensive QuickBooks.
Well done! Thank you for the update. The idea of calling support and them blaming AMEX is not something I wanted to go through.
I am in the exact same boat as you are. I spent hours working on it yesterday and got nowhere. I tried to upload the transactions manually using a qbo file but that was a mess and nearly all of them were duplicates so I just deleted them from bank feeds and decided to work on it more today. Then this morning I was able to setup my AMEX feed again but when I clicked sync I got the exact same error you did.
You will be interested to hear this next part, as I am sure everyone reading this thread at the beginning of August will. While downloading that qbo file yesterday I was presented this message on the AMEX website:
Because of a recent change, you may need to update your connection between American Express and Quickbooks or Quicken.
It didn't show up until I selected quickbooks as the "download" type. So clearly something changed that Intuit has not caught up with yet. I suppose it could be AMEX's issue too. I just hope it gets fixed by the end of the week.
I did what you did @Joey-Phx - downloaded a QBO file and imported it, and got a few new transactions and some duplicates, and I did see the notice you're talking about.
I deleted the Web Connect connection to set it up again, and it worked like I said, but now this date error.
This is a situation I think where the problem is the lack of standards, and the lack of an overarching player to drive adoption of those standards. The banks and Intuit and Quicken (and other players in the financial software space) need to come up with something like Zelle, an organization and a standard for interchange of data that all of the players can agree to and participate in. Until that happens, Everybody is always going to be scraping websites and every small change in the code of the site is a potential stopper for data interchange. This needs to work much more like Office 365 where I can grant enterprise applications permissions on my tenant to do useful things. There’s definitely a good model for dealing with this, but we’ve just got to get everybody on board.
I forgot to mention that I get the same error you get. "OL315 Sorry, this payment date is too far in the future."
I'm hoping that it will be working by tomorrow. If not I'm going to have to spend many hours entering credit card transactions in manually 😒
Hi @Giovann_G
Per discussion above, both @Joey-Phx and I are pretty sure this was a back-end issue, but in the meantime we downloaded QBO files from AMEX and imported them. Now we're both in a situation where we were able to get the electronic download set up and connecting again but when we connect, we get a OL-315 error "Sorry, this payment date is too far in the future."
I did a test - I set up a new company file and linked to my AMEX and was able to download my transactions just fine. So it seems possible to me that one of the transactions we imported with the QBO file is sticking the download. I may try an experiment where I delete all the unreconciled transactions and download again. It's about 20 transactions so if I have to re-enter it's not the end of the world, and if it works ok. I think I'll wait a couple of days first though. If you have a suggestion to find the bad transaction, I'm all ears.
@bitboyenterprises Thanks for the info...I can't say I'm happy though because now I have to put a bunch of time into figuring this out. If I understood how it worked then I might be able to figure it out more easily. For instance, I have to manually upload transactions as a QBO file for my checking account. When I download the QBO file I am able to choose the date range. With AMEX, I cannot choose a date range; when I uploaded the QBO file I wound up with tons of duplicates. Our AMEX gets used a lot by a multitude of people and there are lots of transactions. I would have had to sit and go through them all one by one, which would have taken forever so I just cleared them out of bank feeds (ignored them). @bitboyenterprises, my friend, do you know how it works with AMEX? Does the QBO file have all transactions since the last statement, is that how they do it rather than allow the user to select the date range?
If that is the case, then when you said you were going to delete all the unreconciled transactions and then try to reconnect so your AMEX will sync automatically in bank feeds you meant that you were going to delete all the transactions that occurred after you last statement date. Is that right? My last statement was about three weeks; I would have to re-enter over 100 transactions. Many of them require speaking to individuals (who don't give me receipts) to find out what the charge was for. I think I will wait and see if that works for you. If it does work, I would be very grateful to you if you would clarify what exactly you do to fix it. As you can tell from my questions in this post, I am not entirely certain.
@bitboyenterprises Thank you for your assistance with this brother.
Something else I just noticed. When I hover over the little circle with arrows next to the bank/building icon it says "Last updated 3 day(s) ago." I didn't update three days ago, that is when I uploaded the QBO file. I only saved one of those transactions to the register. I immediately checked, discovered it was a duplicate, and then deleted it from the register. I think that when I click "sync this bank" it is trying to get transactions from Tuesday (3 days ago) and on, which is too far in the future because other transactions occurred between Tuesday and the sync prior to that (last Friday). I have no idea how to fix this though.
I cannot believe that there aren't more people on this boards with the same issue.
I have bad news @Joey-Phx - I tried deleting all the unreconciled transactions and it didn't help. I ended up restoring a backup from before the Amex issues and QBO import - I had not made a lot of changes, and it was easier than doing anything else. At that point, with the restored file (which was still connected to AMEX from before) I was able to connect and download my 7 new transactions without issue. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but maybe support has a different option for you. Good luck with it...
Oh no....I would have to restore a backup from last week. We have two individuals who spend their entire day working in QB. We would lose two weeks of work.
Do the QB support staff look at these threads? I have no idea what to do to fix this issue.
We're following the thread, Joey-Phx, and I suggest not doing anything at this point. You can, however, back up your file now so you can keep a copy of your current data.
If you have time, please contact our QuickBooks Desktop Support before 6 PM PT today or you can call in next week, Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM PT. This way, they can start a screen-sharing session and gather more details to investigate this issue.
I'm just around if you have any other concerns.
Have you guys had any luck solving? I have two company files that have the same problem and I'm at a loss. Intuit support is unbelievably not helpful (I've had two agents disconnect from our conversation with no warning) and one agent who answered the phone with grunts and never actually spoke. I can't believe that there aren't thousands of us with this same problem. Can't believe a company this size has this poor support for their product.
This isn't the experience we want you to have when trying to connect with our support team, @gregmac13.
Do you have a recent case number for us to look at? This will help us track and check to help investigate this further.
If you don't have a recent case, I encourage you to contact our support team. I know you've tried already, but they are the ones who have the necessary tools to check your account in a safe environment, and can help find the root cause of your issue and find a fix.
